There's no place like home, if it be BT 1 or BT 2. Thank you for bringing supportive friends together again. My computer went for good during the time of the BT tragedy. I am checking email as I can with the old 233Mgz computer. Takes me an hour to open and read send off a reply so I struggle for time. Paying bills takes forever.
Missed you all dearly!

Law surely hope you start feeling better, but glad those lolly-pops help! I was wondering if anybody else had this happen.... when I fall asleep and drop the pillow that I usually hold my ar straightens and my last 3 fingers curl up more so than normal. When I do wake my arm is straight my fingers bent and I require my wife to message my fingers to straighten the and her to help me bend my arm a few times before I can do it by myself and at times while she is doing that I am in actual tears! I have not had an appointment with Dr Togut, though have talked with him and he said it has to do with the Fleor nerve/muscle!

Unil later I wish all a pain free day !!!!!!!!

am kind of sad about all the bashing on the forum feedback- suggestions are great- but many are just complaining and not offering ideas for improvement.
I'm wondering if their postings will have repercusssions when we return to BT1???
I hope not.
I think the banned ones are inflaming the others- i think they forget that anyone can read here.

Hi kids...

boy did I miss each and every one of you.

Mark, I am so glad to see you're back to your welcoming duties - you are our "greeter" of choice! smooch and hug.

Also, very sorry to hear of your AM finger problem. I do not have that per se. But sometimes the hand is such a claw, and hurts so bad, I leave it that way. I will pray that this will pass for you and ease up.

To every single one of you, big big kisses and hugs!

I am also grateful for the others who are diligent to this forum, who continue, year after year to try and lift others up with words of encouragment, personal experiences, and by sharing their own TOS situations so others can learn and be helped in their own healing process.

This is a wonderful family of people!!!

I did not do anything here that anyone else would not have done! We have always been strong together and if we did not have an answer to a question that we did not know there would always be somebody there could help out. I am fortunate to have found this site myself and think it is nice that we all share our weaknesses and also our strngths! Has anybody had any new outcomes with there TOS? I myself have found out that my workmans comp judge has put a deadline on all the stalling their judge has been doing and he must have any and all dpositions in by Sept. 19th, unfortunately, I found out after him getting this info in it may take another month or two to before a decsion is reached. I have been without any for of income for a year, which is an insult to me as I started work at the age of 13 picking apples and always had a job regarless... my first car was purchased by me at the age of 16 as well as paying my own insurance. I never expected at the age of 42 to be in this boat, however I am in the boat with one oar and spinning around in circles!

I was invovled in a work related accident on 4/2 in which my truck rolled backwards and smashed into a SUV behind me, how exactly how it happaned I do not know but it took place. In the matter my back smashed inti the door frame, I mentioned it ti both of my boses but down played it because the company was taken over by a nre company on 4/1.... by the 7th I could not take it and went to see their occupational doctor after taking 2 PT appointmants got worse. I met with on of their neuosurgeons, on the first visit he spaent 10 minutes with me and said it should clear up within 6 weeks. The second time I seen him he wanated to do immediate surgery.
Upon receiving home I typed my symptoms into my computer search engine and each time an it ket coming up with a brahial plexus injusy more over TOS... after several searches I came up with a doctor in my area, Dr A Togut and he told me he cold not be sure what it was over the phone, however he would be be willing to see me an should it not be TOS, he would help me in finding a doctor who could help me and if it was not TOS he would help in finding me who could treat my condition. After a three hour interview with him that day he came up with the diagnosis of Bi-Lateral Diagnosis of TOS.
The New Company sent me to see one of their indepedent doctors, after spending 10 min with her reviewing my condition, I than spent 5 min with the wife would have the permission that my wife would not be permitted in with me and in his orders felt he had something to hide !!!
My basic wish would to be rid of some of this pain and return to some form
of normal life! I am not planning on doing any sort of doing any moto cross.

Until all My Best to all,
Mark-n-Goober

I am sure that there are a lot of people who have been in the same situation. I am not looking for a free ride, I am just wanting to be treated by a Dr. who is tops in the field of TOS. I have not had the money to fly out to colorado, but found a way out to see Dr Sanders and after a 2 1/2 to 3 hour interview he came up with a diagnosis, this after being twisted, turned injected in various places he came up with the the diagnosis of bi-lateral TOS due to a work related accident.

hello friends,
i added some search info for how to find some of the old BT1 info up in the sticky/useful link thread.

but if the cached results have more than 1 page - i don't know how to get to the rest of it.
If you click on the next page in the cached results it will go to the present BT announcement page.

I found this info in one of Liz/wittesea posts maybe she has some more ideas on that part of it.
have a nice day all.

want to say hi to everyone. I am still waiting for surgery, and if at all possible I seem to be getting worse as time goes by. Just to refresh memories, I have bi-lateral TOS as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Aug. 28, 2006. I have done the physio and chiro. I still see my chiro 1x per week, and he is the only reason I function at all. I feel the best when I keep my hands and arms curled up closely to my chest. This unfortunatly is leading to some amounts of muscle atrophy.

My lawyer developed cancer, and has passed my case to another firm. I am very nervous about this as he had come so highly recommended, and I don't know anyone at this new firm.
TamaraShadow, any advice on questions to ask the new lawyer?

I can't drive anymore, and am finding it next to impossible to run my daycare. If I have to pick up one of the children, I find it really painful. I want more than anything to get better.

Hi trix,
as much as possible try to keeep some amount of movement - keeping arms curled in is not to good for circulation or maintaining muscle as you mentioned.

slow and gentle movements to keep your range of motion as best you can.

Have you tried the laying on the floor thing?
I'll repost it here-

For passive gentle stretching - try
Laying on a rolled up towel or foam cylinder {approx 6"x30"}
or flat on floor if that is more tolerable for you
let gravity drop shoulders and open chest
{pectoral muscles } and use diaphramatic breathing to relax and release into the stretch

lay the length of the spine on the cylinder /or floor with a small pillow for head & neck if needed {pillow was recomemended for me because of the c-spine issues}

just relax and let shoulders drop and chest and armpits will release and stretch - place arms at a comfortable position 15-20 minutes as often as you can.

If you have mild low back troubles put a pillow under knees or raise them.
If you have any spine problems check with doctor before doing this.

I need to go do this myself - haven't been able to since we had everything crammed into living room while redoing kitchen.

Want to say Hi to Barbarea and tell her how sorry I am she had a bad day the other day, I hope the wedding goes/went well and she does not spend days recovering it as we TOSers sometimes do...

To Trix I send my best wishes and a hope that she can find an attorney that can help her get through the quagmire of W/C to aplace where she can receive the proper care and get on the road to healing...

Patience dear one, I sympathize with what you must be feeling and going through, just be patient, because the stress that you are describing can wreak havoc on your body and recovery. Is their someone else who can lift the children for you? Do you have anyone working for you that can do that? Be mindful that any thing that HURTS as you are doing it can be a RE-INJURY... AS much as you can, avoid doing anything that hurts!! Even physio. exams and p.t.!!

I had inappropriate P.T. at the beginning that worsened my injury!!
Dr.Ellis and Peter Edglow say NOTHING should cause pain!! Good luck ... and God Bless...

Hello to Jo55, and wishes for a good day.... I am grateful you are here to help us all on this forum...

Mark... SOOO SORRY TO READ YOUR STORY!!! It is very similar to mine!!! All I can say is Hang tough !! You have done nothing wrong !! You deserve PROPER CARE!!! I refused to let them push me away and demanded tests I new would diagnose my condition once and for all. W/C denied my requests for tests and my Private Insurace paid for them on a GREEN LEIN and gave me positive results for Bilateral TOS. A conclusive test that I am aware of is a specialized MRI/MRA of the brachial plexus area.

I don't know the rest of your circumstances Mark, I just hope and pray you can find a way to have this test peformed. Maybe Tam can help or has she suggested anything??? I will keep you and your wife in my prayers...

Which reminds me, the only thing they can ask your wife not to participate in is a pysch. eval. she can be present, take notes and audio tape EVERYTHING else you go for...AND SHE SHOULD!!!! You need a witness because these Quacks are the enemy!! They don't want to pay for your help!! They want to save money at your expense!!

Unfortunately you really have to FIGHT TO GET HELP!! The last thing you want to do when you are in as much pain as we experience!! So again, hang tough and don't take their attitudws and actions personally. WE know you are a honest man!! Who cares what they think!!

I wish I could write more today to others but I can't sit any longer, my arms feel like they will fall off...:(

But wishes are extended for a wonderful weekend (under the circumstances, as horrible as they might be) to all...

Hugs and Hugs,
G~

wish a good start in a new week to all readers!

The wedding of my cousin on friday was a full catastrophy: in the night from thursday to friday I woke up with a mega big migrain and at 03.45 in the morning I took three meds and I was dizzy but still in pain when I got up in the morning.
We missed the train (was to 30% my fault because I was so slow..), the next train was 30minutes delayed, then the underground was stopped because of a technical problem.....we hurried in the hotel to change clothes and we arrived at the church 10 minutes before the final amen. +embarrassing+:eek:

I am still in TOS pain and I am really happy that I can start with the cure on september 19th. I will be far away from all and everything for three weeks and I will receive a lot of therapies and dinner will be served and the room cleaned up everyday - as in a hotel. It sounds like holidays and I hope it will be like.

I want to say to all here in this thread:
I hope you are fine and feel better!

All the best and nice greeting

DiMarie

Hi Trix,
I think it is the different language words, Barb;s is working toward getting better the word "cure" "fix" "better" "relief". Treatments to help, I bet.

barb, so sorry to hear about the folly, but gal, to be hurtiing like you and even attempt to make the church is a wonderful try.. Did they have a reception you could relax at. Often when traveling and not a immedicate family member here in the states people opt to go to the reception fowlling the ceramony and they are folks without pain issues.

I hope that you feel better today and find relief in the treatments to come.

To everyone, Happy Labor Day long weekend. I put in time last week to go with the kids out of town this weekend. Back late last night and beat with tons of house work today to do.

Appointments tomorrow, eye, attorney, doctor.....Busy week, My son has an IME again... Just wraped up De's case and now they are staring with the son.
He has not filed for soc sec and has been off work since 2001, he had work hardening and return to work once but ended up with a fracture in the facet joint of spine from lifting a passanger. His weight restrictions form comp said he coould lift with assistance, well he couldn't.

So really busy week.
Be as well as can be,

am sorry that I use the word "cure" - but I want to explain what this means:
this is in a health ressort and you have to send a demand with your doctor to the "prevention center" of the social security and they allow you to go there.
There is a amount of ca. 250€ to pay for the 3 weeks and the rest takes the social security and I will have a single room, all meals and the treatments during 22 days.
For those who want to see where I will be (if you click on the english flag you can read the page in english):http://www.kurbad-althofen.at
I have already been there and I was so satisfied and relaxed when I came back home.

am happy to be catching up with some of my favorite people! Mark, I completely agree about Dr Togut! Just wish we could make him 20 years younger and clone him so one could have an office near me! Hate it that I only get to see him every 12-18 months :(

RSD is the same as CRPS, but CRPS is the newer term, stands for complex regional pain syndrome. Type 1 is the old RSD, type 2 is what was called causalgia, or RSD due to nerve damage. A lot of Drs still use the RSD term, but they are the same.

Schwartzman is an expert in this field, and a referral from Dr T will probably get you in to see him fairly soon as they are colleagues, otherwise the wait is something like 2-3 years! He has a lot of experience with TOS patients who develop RSD.

Dawn, that is GREAT news!!

Jo, good luck retreiving your data. I HATE crashes, so time-consuming and v. frustrating!

Wishing everyone low pain and a good night's sleep,

hope that the repeat fusion works out for you dawn, I hd C6-7 done app14 years ago, by a Dr down in Philadelphia, fortunate for me it worked out perfect. I did act as my own host for the plug vs cadavar, I felt less of a chance of rejection.

Jo, glad to hear that you are up and running... I learned on my first system to have a reputable virus protection that runs at all times... plus I try and stay away from spam.... I guess if a hacker/spammer wants in, they will!!!

beth, I do really like Dr T. , all I am saying is the RSD dx seems to be accepted more readily aand may help in me getting a jump on my benefits... though wish I never heard of TOS, RSD, CRP...let alone live it ;) As far as Schwartzman is concerned, I am just holding my own with money as it is let alone another Dr bill!!!

Unto all, my wish for a good and pain free day follow each and everyone !!!

Mark, The last surgery I had for my fusion took a cadaver bone.. Which didn't work so the Dr wants to take the graph from my Hip... How did you do with that.. And how long did it take for the discomfort of the graph site to ease up.. I know they say that the graph is more painful than the cervical surgery itself.. I'm just getting the jitters about that..:eek: The surgery is no big deal since I have been through it before and know what to expect.. Just curious what the other is like..:confused:
I hope that everyone is having a good day and that everyone is comfortable and having a low pain day..

Dawn, that is true that the graft site is more painful than the neck however, my Dr had me up adn walking hours after surgery. He told me that exercise eliviates the pain quicker and after about 3 days the pain pretty much so vanished. Unfortunately this Dr does not practice medicine anymore, last I heard he was teaching at the U of P .

Unto all passing by, my wishes for a good day!

Horizontal One,
My heart just aches for you.....You've been through so much and I hate to hear that you're going through so much pain and I think you have every reason to come here and vent because all of us here know that you're not one to just come on here and complain all the time. You've always tried to stay upbeat and you always encourage others and I think that all of us admire you for that. Yes, there are people much worse off than all of us but that doesn't make your pain any less important to you. I'm hoping that you can get through this hard time and will feel better soon.

Today I.......was wondering if anyone else suffers from the flexor nerve/muscle problem where fall asleep with your arm straight the last three fingers curl up and you need somebody to bend your arm and staighten it out your fingers, or yourself slowly because the pain from fingers to neck make you dizzy????

Just a question in the whole scheme of life itself............:confused:

mornin' all- well west coasters anyway - afternoon to east coasters- and hi to everyone else -- LOL

Mark-
I found a few mentions about - I think it's termed "claw hand" or clawing???

googled this - site:brain.hastypastry.net claw hand

click on the cached versions to get the info

we can use this same search and change the topic or a name after the .net part to get to some of the old BT1 info

[The way PT explained it to me, if the tendons start to tighten, it can pull the muscles. My tricep and biceap are "shortened" so I cannot straighten my arm all the way. I have tendon glide exercises I do with my hands, so my tendons in the hand don't shorten and I don't end up with a "claw hand." Look online googling for "physical therapy" "tendon glides" and leg. Do some of those to keep the tendons limber. It's VERY important to do them.]

[ Not a TOS expert but
I've had two trigger fingers, where they bent down, particularly at night, and I had to pry them open in am, fixed with injection of steroid and lidocaine. Neither ever came back. Sometimes it is from a problem of that particular tendon not gliding properly on it's path.

Alot of these weird hand things are coming from nerve involvement in your/our cervical spine. Hand problems are quite a bother aren't they.

I find that with time, my fingers have all gone to a natural position, flexed inward a little - can't lay hand flat on table, no biggy with me at this point.

[Old 09-22-2005, 07:37 AM
You brought up a good issue here with the fingers bent in... my middle, ring and pinky all are closed and to straighten them out actually hurts in my forearm. I also would like an answer as to why this does happen... I know my EMG said something about slowing in the ulnar nerve, however unsure if this could be part of the cause!
God Bless and Good luck!
~~~Mark-n-Goober~~~
very likely the cause,
although the orthopedic surgeon who did my carpal tunnels and injected trigger fingers, said no, but that was AFTER I'd had my surgery, he ran such a busy, busy clinic, and never had time to talk to me. After my injections however, I was fine.
----------------------------------------------------
I think others have this too
I think that's why curldfingers picked it for her name and some others mentioned it also.
you might try doing a search for that with the "search this forum " feature above the list on the main pages.
if I recall it can be from the nerve irritations sending a wrong signal to that nerve. tells those muscles to contract.
But I'm not up on any details of it - haven't had that issue.
you could try a google type of search too.
--------------------------------------------------------
The "official" name for this is claw hand. Search for it in Google and add the name of the nerve affected.
It is often a bad nerve that paralyses the small muscles and that paralysis produces contractures which pull the fingers into these positions.
If you have tendon problems that show up in similar ways, it is not quite as bad as there you can get rid of it with exercise and patience whereas if you get it from a pathological nerve, it is much more difficult.
An interesting description of all sorts of nerve injuries is here:
http://www.studystack.com/studytable-10342
click on "show all" to show them all.
And another good site with pictures showing the effect of ulnar nerve palsy:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/wnor/c...iderations.htm
TODAY I........
Have to say thank you to Jo on the links and info she provided, hopefully it not only aids me, but also others who are going through this! Once again this moring bending my arm after sleep with it straight caused great pain bending it, but was able to do it with out waking my wife :cool:
I know you will do just fine Dawn with your surgery.... there are a lot of people ove here pulling, thinking, and praying for a quick return in health for you:) Dawn to be exact it is the illiac crest (top of the hip) where they take
the bone from. If you are into vanity, you may want to check with your Dr what and when you can start applying something like cocca butter to this site to help not scarrring, me I just look at it like another part of me:D
Read back in this post and would like to remind BOTHRed and Horizontal One, that this forum is not always here to share or talk about the good things in one's life (though that is always a nice thing when that happens) but also a place to come and vent to others who live like we do!;)
Was nice to see some of the regulars from BT 1 moviing about like Law, Krankiegirl, Tam, Gromlily, Edelweis, DiMarie, Beth... some new people like Orthomolecular, hairdresser, Bobbi.... so sorry if I missed anyone, and if I did please do by all means pop by and say Hi or if you know anybody from the old boards that need a hand moving over here please do help them find the way HOME
I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to move a Post over here to the top so that when others come about they see it first.... I do beleive That Drs list that I created should always be on top as well as "Useful Sites" started by Bobbi. Personally I think Churchgirls Doctors list was more inclusive than what I could dig up, but trying to share tried and proven doctors and that was all I could come up with!
I pass along a bit of extra hope for DiMarie.... had a personal E-mail from her and at the moment her life seem to be in a bad spiral downhill fast, truthfully I do not know how she handles some of the things she does!
am highly upset with my bank.... they put a freeze on my account due to lapse in child support *(which my support officer knows)* once I get things straightened out my guys will be taken care of.... Kind of hadr considering I have had no income since 10/10/05 and WC is pulling delay after delay! Well when we were told there was a freeze on the account the banks rep said they would cover all checks till things were straight! NOT we have been getting service charge after service charge from the checks we had out before we knew there was a hold on the account! We always had a good credit rating and I always paid above and beyond on my support!!! Even though I am sure she used the money elsewhere.... infact, whne my guys come down, they do not bring a change of clothes, I always purchased a wardrobe for them here!!!!
Oh Well.... need a time out fingers and left side is starting to hurt hope to hear back in the mean time as it rests !!!
From Mark-n-Goober, we wish all a good day !!!!!!!!!
Dawn good luck with you upcoming surgery.
My son nearly had to have a graft when he shattered his wrist- but dr was able to use many pins after all.
Dimarie - I hope all gets smoothed out soon , you have such a full plate- we miss you here.
Mark - fees and bills - grrr---
It's almost like that old saying about death and taxes!
my vent - found out my WC atty "fibbed" or was incorrect , when he said I could submit my left over bills to my pvt ins carrier..
they did pay some of them but when the big PT bills showed up ---they declined
I appealed the decision and got a letter with an enclosure of the policy-
they do not cover any work injury bills - but as a courtesy they will not ask for repayment of those that they did pay.
well at least that is a break.
so the next step is to see if it goes to collections?? and if they will negotiate for a lesser amount.
wittesea has found links to the drs list {cached} I copied all the info from them to both of my sites.
http://forums.delphiforums.com/TOSRSI/start
http://pub36.bravenet.com/forum/3018365670
or you can ask docjohn to make a sticky for a Drs list and we can get them all in one place.
Amen Mark,
This is an extremely sad day for our country and it's hard to sit and watch all of the tributes that are on TV today and also the video tapes of that day- the planes hitting the buildings, the twin towers collapsing, people jumping out of buildings, people who were covered in ashes leaving the buildings, the plane crash in PA, and so on.....It's hard, but we NEED to watch this over and over, so we don't forget....We need to remember the police officers and fire fighters who lost their lives trying to save others, and our soldiers that are fighting and many of them losing their lives, for our freedom- which also includes freedom of speech. We need to remember that things have changed forever and there are people in this world who would like to wipe us off the map, along with any other country that is different from them, and they would do this without a second thought- we need to pull our heads out of the sand and realize this..... I have to admit, I'm stunned by some of the things that are being said on forum feedback on this very subject, but I've just stayed out of it. We do all have the right to say what we think and to have differing opinions and hopefully we can allow others to have a different opinion without attacking them or their opinion. But, no matter what we think about the war or our government- and while this country isn't perfect, it's still a wonderful place to live, otherwise why would so many people across the globe be trying to come here to live? And I thank God that we have the right to say what we think and live in freedom- because in many of the countries in this world, people aren't allowed the freedom to say what they think- especially if they're criticizing their government. I support our country, I support our president even though I don't always agree with everything he does, and I support our troops who are dying for us to have the rights we have. I hope I haven't offended anybody- this is just my opinion.
TODAY I.....have to make mention it wa nice to see somebody else find their way here.... ROZ, although now she is going under the username of Buckwheat.
Wonder who ever made up up the work comp system... seems as though I have been placed in the center of a spining tub ! Their side came up with a witness who said I was no where near my truck when it rolled, though when she gave her depo I was no where near.... it was the customer who I was delivering to and I would have really liked to look in her eye when she gave this testimony! I wont get into the whole scheme of things, but there is no way I could have made it out of the truck on such an angle and been at the side of her house when it rolled, second of all, it requires someone to add air to the brakes (letting off the parking brake) for it to move thus me in the cab... regardless, I am in need of closure on WC before I lose it... MORE THAN I AM ALREADY :D !
Hope the day is good for all that pass by and if you feel inclined feel free to pass along a HELLO :)
Double OUCH!! :eek: That doesn't sound pleasant - the bone harvest part. I imagine you will have more post-op pain from this than from the fusion site, is that right? Do they do the harvest and then immediately do the fusion repair? How many days will you be in hospital afterwards? Is there someone who can let us know how things went and keep us up-to-date with you?
Will keep you in my prayers for a successful surgery and short&sweet recovery!!
I think some hair loss can be thyroid related, has your beeen checked lately?
Is your hair loss in an area where you have a lot of symptoms or pain?
{swelling or parenthiesia?/ i butchered that word- i think}
could be a partial explaination if so.
No Jo the more I talk to people.... it does seem the finger nail growth and the diminishing hair all has to do with RSD (which I do not have )... my doctors call it CRP which from my understanding is the same thing. Old heck, I think we all change age from day to day on our age. Here again being the opposite gender (male) my age has not progressed from the age of 13 or 14... except now my toys cost a bit more... we all like bright shiny objctes that make noise:D
redjpwranglergirl said Yes, here's hoping that everything goes well for Dawn. How are you doing Gromlily? I hope you're having a good day too and I wish we had your weather here! It sounds wonderful!
Yeah she is in my thoughts also, though once she getspast the pain in the illiac crest (the area where they take the graft) I think she will be back on the board in no time ! ;)
Dawn you will probably be in a triage area by the time I get this written... just in case please remember I am pulling for you !!!
Hate to say it but when I looked at my Thermometor outside at 4:00 am it was 42 F (appx 6 C) God I hate winter, should it not be for my childern I would be way dow south!
am wondering if Dawn is in recovery yet, and hoping she has plenty of pain meds.!!
I also want to say Hi to Redjp and thank her for thinking of me! I am doing allright; just the usual aches and pains!! Hubby is about the same. I hope you are doing well and am so glad to see you here!! It is good to hear your thoughts and insights again!!
We do have wonderful weather right now. It is harvest season for the grapes, so we have been watching the big trucks come from Korbel and other wineries to pick up the grapes and take them to the wineries.
Mark... I was teasing Jo about the old lady peach fuzz we women unfortunately get!! I am however having trouble with my nails; they used to be so long and strong and now they split and peel. I think it is more related to my thyroid though, as I am hypothyroid and take a replacement hormone for it.
I hope you are able to find out about your nails and hair loss. It would be interesting to know if it is a symptom of TOS as well as the RSD.
Thanks for your thoughts and good wishes!! I hope you are able to enjoy the week-end, even if it is cold!! I don't like winter either!! Especially now, it causes so many aches and pains!!
I used to love to wak Gromit in the rain before all of this! I know, stinky wet dog but it was worth it!! We had fun!! :p :)
Best wishes for a wonderful week-end for all!!
got my trial spinal cord stimulator! They were able to get both arms covered from fingers to top of shoulders and both underarms, and a bit of relief in the scap areas as well, so that was a success. It's weird to get "zapped" when I change position, will take getting used to, but supposedly better with permanent implant once it's scarred in place.
I think it's going to work for me, seems to be much less pain in my arms and shoulders!! YEAH!!! My neck is VERY sore tho, had to hang it off the edge of the operating table for entire procedure, over an hour - OW!
Will keep you posted as to how this works for me, get the trial out Mon afternoon - need to take some Tylenol now, then off to my daughter's Homecoming football game, at least for a bit. Taking a nice WARM blanket - brrr, getting chilly out there :(
Wishing a low-pain weekend to all,
...had a checkup with my state-supplied Dr. - She's very good and competent. But I really don't think she has the time or desire to understand what's happening to me.
My last pain episode (2 wks ago) was the worst yet... threw up all my pain meds; pale; heart palpatations/flutters; shaking; couldn't see (could only open rt eye); could hardly speak; freaked me out enough to start getting my final affairs in order. I asked the Dr. today if I should go to the ER the next time this happens. She started to order a head CT and pain mgmt...HAHAHAHA. If I had the $$ for that I wouldn't be in the clinic seeing her! At the clinic from 2:30-5:30 today for that. At least I got all meds refilled. Her answer - which isn't a bad idea - is a suppository for nausea along with meds when this happens. Guess I'll give it a whirl! :rolleyes: (was she sending me a subliminal message?)
Wishing everyone here more pain-free days and lottery winnings!! :p
beth
10-04-2006, 09:19 PM
Anne,
How did the episode start? If I wear a bra, or sometimes even just sleep on my side, I irritate the brachial nerve that branches off the plexus. It was injured by the vaccine reaction and then irritated or injured again during surgery. It runs down along the rib cage, with a branch between the first two ribs and another branch that runs across the underarm and down to the elbow (don't know where it goes from there).
When it's irritated, the branch between the first two ribs causes chest pains (faux angina). When these start I get pale, clammy, dizzy, can hardly draw a breath, and very nauseous. If I have a bra on, it has to get off, right this minute! If I can get into fresh air, that helps, and I have to consciously use relaxation breathing, deep breaths from down low.
The bad part was when these attacks started happening when I was lying down, trying to sleep - just from the pressure of my arm against the nerve. I'm not sure if there was a link, but it seemed like the nerve flare was linked to anxiety. I practiced using deep breathing and being purposely calm and letting go of things during the day, and the nerves calmed down shortly after.
Which was good, because it's hard enough to get sleep anyway, without panicky attacks of chest pains and breathlessness.
This nerve is also what causes the burning elbow pain and underarm pain, that surgery and other treatment hasn't been able to resolve - that's because it's a permanent nerve injury. I just finally learned this from a visit to Dr T in May. However, the trial SCS DID cover both the pain in the elbow AND underam, and brought an amazing sense of relief! How I pray that the permanent SCS surgery is successful!!
Your description sounds so similar, I wonder if maybe this nerve wasn't damaged in your first surgery? Do you think that's possible?
Think of you often,
beth :)
Anne
Anne, I have had these type of attacks. (about 14 total in the past 3 years) It would start with the left arm pain and then left shoulder and upper left cervical and shoulder blade. The heart palps would start, weakness and dizziness would follow, could not speak and had to lay down for about 45 minutes until they passed. I do not know what triggered these but when one of these hits you again, go to the ER room and ask them to take heart Enzymes, i.e. Troponin and CK-MB to make sure it is not your heart. If these heart Enzymes are normal a good ER doctor will repeat them in 4-6 hours. This is a must. They MUST be repeated in 4-6 hours if the first set is normal.
It is not unusual for women in their forties to have heart problems brought on by other conditions. Many ER doctors frown when a younger woman presents with "unclassic chest pains" but more women are presenting differently than men and are not being taken seriously. Peace of Mind is everything. I know. Wishing you better days ahead.
I have become an outspoken advocate for women and heart disease. I will be listed in a book coming out in April/May 07 and am currently writing my own and also an article for a magazine...(Time to be determined). As much as we all dread Breast Cancer, BC can be cured if found in time by getting regular mammograms and good monthly self exams. I know of 5 breast cancer survivors (10 years plus now) 1 in 9 women die of breast cancer. One in 3 women die from heart disease. HD is the no. one killer of women. Don't let any male doctor intimidate you when you present pain or "anything" that does not feel right. Act upon it and get your records and view results yourself. Get educated on this disease and especially if there is a family history and one is diabetic. You may be saving your own life.
astern, I surely hope all is normal with and that you can avoid the DR;)
Beth... well I never tried the bra thing (just not me:D) however it is like I have brought up on other threads and asked my doctor... how the heck are to know when we are in the throughs of a heart attack or stroke, at times, the pain I get spreads across my chest numbene down both arms and seating ane elevated pulse just brought ou by the pain at times goes up the left side of my nec and causes my left eye to fltuuer and not focus proprly aka stroke? anymore I just assume everythin above the waist to be RSD or TOS hope all works out
flippin... I think therapy incresed my TOS as does my Doc, hope who ever is working on you has TOS experience
Dawn, truly I hope your fussion is set in place and the graft site is feeling OK! They have you in a Philadelphia (STIFF) callor or soft the phila makes it har to turn and the smell from sweating undr the foam gts bad:mad: all in all, I think you will do fine;)
Lisa, when I worked in the lab the cariac enzmes were done X3q12hr, because a peson with an athletic heart will be high... though you are correct and a 12 lead EKG are great thinggs and as on TV it is stated # 2 killer of heart attacks are women so guess safe than sorry fit this bill
Hi Mark, No. One Killer in women is HD. Not use to be but is now. Why, because many of the doctors do not take women's symptoms seriously.
Emzymes: If a person comes to the hospital with RECENTchest discomfort (within an hour or so) more often than not...Heart Enzymes will be normal. That is why a second set of Enzymes should be taken 4-6 hours later. If these are elevated then usually the Cath team is alerted and Heparin started or another blood clotting med. If one has waited for hours to get to a hospital after having chest pains and it is truly Heart related discomfort, the Enzymes are usually elevated on the first try alerting the doctor that this is not just the start of a possible heart attack but may be in full blown Cardiac Trouble. If the same patient waits for hours before going to the ER room and then Enzymes taken and they are normal, chances are that the second set will be normal also but this second set still needs to be taken. Normally in a patient with two normal enzyme readings and no risk factors, they are sent home after the second set of results. And with risk factors and two normal enzymes the patient may be monitored for 24 hours before being released.
I have been through this both ways. I have it memorized. :o
Hi,
When nursing if someone had chest pain (and in Canada HD is #1 killer of women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) we took Cardiac enzymes.....ck and trop1 every four hours x3!! That way you get a good look at what is going on. If you ever have chest pain go to ER immediatly and get 12 lead ecg and then ck and trop's......not sure if they are called the same is US......but when I went in with chest pain KILLER I thought I was dying and all was normal.....I was working at the time and my colleges sent me to the er to get checked out. I was working out and doing millitary presses.....and that was squishing brachial plexus....extra rib and all............ no heart issue thank GOD but still needs checked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ANY CHEST PAIN GO TO ER....GOT IT GUYS....DO I HAVE TO BE YA'LL'S NURSE....NOT THAT I MIND I NEED PATIENTS!!!!!!
We only have one that is afraid of loud noises - our middle one.
neighbor likes to shoot out back of his property, the guard jets flying over after practice, fireworks, thunder.
she's getting worse too this 4th of July we had her in the back porch while we were gone. came back to let her out and she had torn the trim boards off the house door-trying to get in.
I think we have to get doggy tranquilizers for next year.
Have to mention Jo, are previous Dog which was smaller (about 110 lbs) was afraid of fireworks also, the Vet gave us alprozapam and she did not handle it well, she was in a stupor for several days after. So after that experience we never gave her those again... she used to hop in the tub for some reason so we just let do that and we would sit in the bathroom with her and pet her to calm her down.
...... do not know about cats weights, though from past experience think 10 lbs of cat could be a terror if it chose to be :D Good night Victoria
I am cleaning up the birthday party mess :o Ever since the Heart issues, what use to take 10 minutes now takes me 30 minutes. Thanks all for the birthday wishes. He was soo :eek: It was a great party.
Jo, they lived west of Roseburg close to Crater lake. It took all day to get there from Texas. Planes, Trains and Cars. :( Pretty country but Bod said no more. :p When they decided to come home, it took me only 10 minutes to call Mayflower and get them packed up. His home sold in one day.
Red, I sent over two big pieces of cake late last night. Look on your front porch. Hurry before an Armadillo gets it....Hurry~!~ :)
Happy belated birthday back to you, Beth.
Now it's time to get ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Xmas. I love this time of year. :)
A Crater Lake trip was in our plans for 2003 summer- another thing that got put off due to my RSI/TOS injury that year.
well someday - at least we finally got the kitchen remodled!
Mark - rest up so those TrPs injections last longer for you.
{I know it's hard to do that though}
I've got TrPs in my rhomboids now from stacking firewood & R shoulder is complaining from that and pulling out English Ivy and Blackberries!
Hello again,
I have been off from the forum for nearly one month - and I am happy to be back again.
I read your conversation in the "today I" thread and so I am up to date what happened.
My "cure" was really fine and I enjoyed the treatments: lymphatic massage, physiotherapy with 1) trigger points and 2) mobilisation of the first rib, phonophorese etc etc etc
I was able to switch off my brain: I had a timetable when and where is what kind of therapy and the meals were served and the room was made - so I had nothing to do besides beeing there at time. Really great.
Of course, I didn`t return "cured" - I still have my shoulder and TOS problems but I am in a good mood and relaxed and I hope this holds on.
The doctor told me to see and apreciate the parts of the body who are good and healthy and not to focus the part who is sick. This will help me to come out easily from acute pain.
I cannot answer each thread here, so I wish you all a good day and all the best with your situations.
Best wishes
Barbara
want to share something with you:
in the "cure-center" I had a therapy called "Energy Island":a color-aromatic-sound therapy for a) relaxation b) vitalisation or c) anti-pain
I asked how the piece of music was called that helps again pain, and I ordered it and yesterday I got it.
I will insert the link and it is number 2 "Hörprobe 2" that helps against pain.
Today I... found one CD of intrest over at the site you put up Barb, unfortunately with EURO to dollar conversion and shipping, not even a thought, this one being...Hektik, Betriebsamkeit und eine ständig wachsende Informationsflut bestimmen den Alltag. Die Zeit ist so schnell geworden, der Mensch kann ihr kaum folgen, kommt kaum zur Besinnung. Jetzt einfach innehalten, für einige Minuten dem Alltag entfliehen, aufatmen, träumen, ganz du selbst sein: AUSZeit !
Danach kehrst du mit frischer Energie, klaren Gedanken, mit neuen Ideen und Impulsen zurück in den Tag. Though hope your therapy is still lasting and helping you through your days! :)
.....Must say Victoria, as refreshing as that sounds may get costly if she repeats any test! If you would like please PM me with the doctors name and location and I will post it up on the Drs. list in the correct area... my best of luck to you, you sound so excited with this new prospect and treatment ;)
.....am highly frustrated with the pharmacy that, I usually go to and dropped off my scripts last week, called last week and was told call us back in a few hours... time to change pharmacies:mad:
Wish all my best and certainly do hope all are having a low pain day !!!!
I am weary after last forum Mark. Who knows what is read by whom.....?????? anyhow.......sorry the massage dosnt work but what about the oil.....could it help or would it aggrevate as it stimulates??????:confused:
MarK....Pharmacy is sooooo key as I have learned....if they don't recognise you or know you by name or help you with your meds.....time to find a new one I find the small ones run independantly more efficient and friendly...just my own observation up here in the north........
Take care all
strokes and seizures in children:
Orange 3D Cold & Allergy Cherry (Pink)
They are asking you to call them at 800-548-3708 with the lot number on
Thanks for posting this Mark. I will call my DIL tomorrow morning and tell her about this since we have a 3 yr. old gr'son. I was thinking that Phenylpropanolamine was taken out of sinus/allergy medications a long time ago but it must not have been. I can't take most of these kinds of meds because I have high BP- I'm wondering if that is the ingredient that people with high BP aren't supposed to take or is it something else in these meds? Does anybody know? BTW, how are you feeling Mark?
Jo*mar
i didn't see anything on the FDA recall/alert site.
http://www.fda.gov/opacom/7alerts.html
but when i googled key parts of the message it seems many others have had the same message sent.
It seems someone is resending an old email about this or perhaps a spam of some sort
I did more searching- and found this info-
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blppa.htm
[2005 Update: Most if not all of the products listed above which formerly contained phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride have been reformulated to eliminate the ingredient. Consumer questions about phenylpropanolamine and its potential health hazards may be directed to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration at 1-888-INFO-FDA.
Some manufacturers of over-the-counter medicines containing phenylpropanolamine have offered refunds to consumers who purchased the products before they were voluntarily recalled in late 2000. To inquire about the availability of such refunds, dial the 800-number for consumer questions listed on the product packaging.
Comments by Carla Homan: This email has it mostly right. In November 2000, the FDA issued a public health advisory about phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride (PPA), the drug mentioned in the email. This drug is found in many over the counter (OTC) medicines, specifically in cold and flu remedies, as well as appetite suppressants. The drug will likely be banned, but because this process takes time, the FDA issued the health advisory in the meantime ]
http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/
[The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is taking steps to remove phenylpropanolamine (PPA) from all drug products and has requested that all drug companies discontinue marketing products containing PPA. In addition, FDA has issued a public health advisory concerning phenylpropanolamine. This drug is an ingredient that was used in many over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription cough and cold medications as a decongestant and in OTC weight loss products.
In response to the request made by FDA in November 2000, many companies have voluntarily reformulated and are continuing to reformulate their products to exclude PPA while FDA proceeds with the regulatory process necessary to remove PPA from the market.
was once again denied a Rx that I have been using for...foreven now. This is how they get the ball rolling I guess. Things have been quiet in the world of W/C and I guess they needed to start things up again( Naturally for the holidays)They first begin by not covering 1 of my 3 rx's that I've been on for 18 months...then I get a letter for an IME...in Philadelphia, as usual....next I guess they will be following me. That seems to be the routine. Hopefully the next $$$$offer will be one we should take and I'd like to be rid of this whole W/C thing. Then maybe I can feel a little more normal. It is almost 4 years and I just want my life back...a life without IME's, FCE's, IRE's , EMG"s , hearings...notices........judges.......sleepless nights, not because of the TOS, but because I wonder if this time they will stop my checks. Sorry everyone, I just needed to vent. I use to cry and get worked up when they did this to me, but now I just get mad and I have realized that this is part of the drill. Anyone relate????? I really would love to have Dr Sanders out in Colorado take care of me after meeting him in person and being examined be by him... though can see the insurance companies denying his care even though I would be cover my own travel, the lawyers, Ins companies and IME Doctors saying he is incompetant even though he has caovered 5000 cases and only had to do surgery on 3000 cases.... unfortunately on the the left I fall into the surgical story, than again this may only by minor surgey.... this also goes with the right in only having the minor !!!!
We took gr'son to "Zoo Boo" at the zoo today. All kids were encouraged to wear their costumes and they could trick or treat at booths that were set up. Our weather has been beautiful the last few days- much cooler than it has been, so all of the animals were out enjoying it. Several of them, such as the bears, the tigers, and the lions had been given pumpkins and they were really enjoying tearing into those pumpkins!:D Unfortunately my feet are killing me this evening- but it was worth it. Hello to Everyone,
It is so good to see old friends talking again. I hope everyone is holding up well.
I am doing pretty good. One year now since surgery,
Still have some flare ups. I still feel there is still some impingement somewhere. It seems though if I keep the walking up, I feel pretty good.
I walk 3 miles a day. That has also helped me to drop 10 pounds too, so that always helps.
Glad to be back and to have my family back!
We most definately had very strong wind and rain yesterday...blew out through the night. At least now we have some autumn leaves lying around.
Twas the night before Sunday, and all throught the house not a creature was stirring except for the cat, sounds of velcro torn apart, as claws not retracted padded about!!
Today I....feel in fun mode, though the pain is no better. Very cold last few days and I have felt it. It had been very mild until recently, with plants coming back into flower when supposed to be asleep!!!
Take care all.....sorry about pinching the rhyme but just thought that it was appropriate given the cat has not been retracting her claws of late...think she thinks she is a fishing cat!!
T'was the night before Sunday (technically Sunday it seems) and my terrible headache invaded my dreams. I kept thinking "if only I'm able to sleep, this pain will subside - I'll continue to dream". But 5am came, no relief coming quick. My pillows weren't fluffy, they felt more like brick. I made myself get up and take a big pill. but 3 hours later and I'm feeling quite ill.
So here I am typing to my support group: seems this bad weather system's thrown us all for a loop!
My best prayers and blessings to all those in pain, and hopes that the next system will bring ONLY rain!
Love,
Anne
casting us about
like leaves upon a raging sea
just keep us all afloat
But I seein your posts, I am not alone with my painful weekend - and this helps me.
I hope that all those who suffered this weekend can start in a new painfree week.
The worst of the wind storm went to the south of us - we didn't even lose power.
But the Oregon coast had max wind gusts to 104.
Others had outages - most fixed the next day.
want to add some weather informations too: here it is again mild (too warm for the season they say) during the day. In the morning and in the evening it is fresh/cold but the real winter didn`t start already. It is fine but on the other side a lot of people catched a cold.
I am not in a big flare but the whole day my arm gets cold, then hot, then it is like electricity, etc etc etc. I think my arm is going mad but I ignore it as good as possible.
Mark, thank you for the good advice (eins, zwei, trinken!) - I apreciate the humour, it is the best medecine.
Wish you all a good automne day without pain.
TODAY ....
Am wondering if Victoria has a bit of extra room for a big package in her luggage:cool: some warm weather and a soak in some warm salt water would do one good... enjoy !!!
Barb, unfortuately, I am sensitive to the cold all-in-all. doc says it has to do with CRPS and aldonyia. My hands actually burn from the cold and causes my chest to tighten that at time think I am having a MI and yes I have had an EKG, CXR and blood work... Troponin, and CK-MB were normal, however my ESR was off the wall:) So happy you enjoyed my suggestion :D
Wonder if anybody else gets pain radiating from the shoulder up affecting the Occipital area of my head, however at times my jaws, temple and at times causes my left eye to twitch.
Certainly hope all are well... My hopes to all that they have a great weekend !!!
Mark, I don't have trouble with my eye(s) twitching but I do have TERRIBLE pain sometimes in the occipital area. The pain travels up around my ears to my temples and around my eyes. If I press on those areas it's very painful- almost feels like those areas are deeply bruised. PM dr. told me it all tied into the the chronically spasmed muscles in my neck (cervical dystonia). Whatever it is, it's very painful and I sympathize with you.
Mark,
Wonder if anybody else gets pain radiating from the shoulder up affecting the Occipital area of my head, however at times my jaws, temple and at times causes my left eye to twitch.
This so accurately describes my pain I am amazed that your telepathy can reach that far!!! Can you bend spoons with your mind??? Should I call you Uri G????
My headache starts at back of neck…or shoulder and works its way up the back of my head and is always muscularly hard as a rock (is that a word?? muscularly??) and then goes up and around the front to the side and to my eye it causes vascular spasm in my eye and it sometimes makes my face go numb as well as my ear ringing.....and my face and cheek to go numb. I can't believe it is only me....Oh the horror of the pain you suffer I know your plight.......I can only say I understand 100% and offer condolences as this headache sucks the worst almost as bad as my migraines, but I can usually stop them before they get too bad with the right meds.
oh and by the way.....would if I could in the luggage....hoping to bring back something big...but on my finger not in the luggage and it damn well better sparkle in the sun.....hopeful as always...but not sure it will happen.......
hope all with the bad weather are staying dry and warm around a fire which is just what I am about to do after my super hot bath with a damn lot of epsom salts and lavender oil and a plate of blue cheese and melba toasts.....ok now you all KNOW I am a freak......
take care all...hugs,
Victoria
Today I've been married for 1 year - in that year i've had left shoulder surgery, developed (or just noticed) what we think is TOS, had a pilonidal cyst removed, not had a good night sleep, and have become the proud father of a beautiful baby girl! I'd say it was a pretty full 12 months.
TODAY I.....
....... Victoria, just want to scream when that pain takes over. it seems to originate from GOOOBER(which is a real entity/swelling that I get in my traps the size of a golf ball)! It travels up the left of my neck, back of my head to the temples into my left eye! Like you said if you do not catch it quick enough with meds, it can ruin ones week, as it is tender to touch and laying down is an impossibility. I can not lay on either side, because of shoulder arm pain, which was a hard adjustment as I used to lay on my right side spooning my wife (and get your minds out of the gutter guys:D ), just being close. Hope you get the sparkles you are looking for, my wife has all the sparkles I can afford now and when I got it... a 1 1/2 kt diamond shaped center stone with 1/4 kt bagets on both sides... can not ever see being able to do that again unless the lottery "GODS" are on my side;) than again the price I paid was worth every cent for a sweet, caring and special lady who beside my children is my life and am not able to say enough good about her!!!!!
......think Dabbo, that from the sounds of it, you lucked out in the realm of love and that you have a fine woman, that when the going gets tough your bonds get stronger!!! :) Hope each succeding 12 months/years bring about more joy less any more pain!!!
....... Would like to send out to all of our spouses and signifigant others in our lives a true and heart felt **THANK YOU** for dealing with the roller coaster ride of emotions we go through on a daily basis!:) I do not know about others, but at times I do become self centered with my TOS/RSD world that I forget about my wife and be consumed with myself and ignore the ones who are there for me day-in-day-out! In short, those of us fortubate to have this support are so darn blessed that words can not express and am thankful to all my fellow TOSers here that remind and humble me in the fact that there is always somebody who has it worse than I and not have the nurturing support at home!!!!
God bless one and all and my true and honest wish that all can be pain free and life may become that prior to this pain we live with on a daily basis.........~MARK-n-GOOBER~
Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to share my parents 50th wedding anniversary... well it is actually Wed the 22nd though to get all the family together celebrated it than. We had no idea what to get them so we wnt to a Hallmark shop and got them a guest sign in book that had pages in the front to list family tree, pictures through the years and 2 pages that they could fill in the good times and such that they spent together! DiMarie may be able to elaberate on where we had the affair "Wild Flower Manor" and the food and atmosphere was excellent! It was great that we were able to share this day with them... though than again they have more of a life than we have golfing, traveling and forever remodeling the house.
My prayers, thoughts and hope go out to all who suffer with the maladies that cause pain and wish that these aches lessen up AND THAT TOMORROW IS PAIN FREE!!!!
I know the feeling, our son is 6'3"- I'm 5'5" and hubby is 6'- so he looks "down" on us! He's 26 yrs. old and is married with a 3 yr. old- it also seems like yesterday that he was learning to walk and coming down the hall every morning when he got up and giving me "morning love" (his words). Glad the big day is over. I know you like and love the support and caring wife gives you, maybe it is just like I pick up on things with my kiddo she does not notice. I can feel her getting sick or something not right in her moods and all. An instinct, far before she sees it. The medications sometimes mask things we do not see that others can just feel. maye doses need to drop down a week and go back up, or different medications.
I am glad that you have her, so much! It is tough now with the wait and see game with w/c and soc sec. but many prayers are with you.
I was able to get some work done here for the holiday, am totally wiped out tonight, hurt to bad to sleep. I am sleeping in tomorrow with the husband, the first day he had off in almost a year. He didn't even get to Disney with us. Then off to watch the grandson while the gang goes off black Friday shopping.
Hope everyone had as good a day and manageable pain levels as could be.
great dabbo,
keep us updated on how it is doing for you.
here are other books available in most libraries along the same line - if one doesn't help much try some others.
I think a multi pronged approach is best - TOS is very postural related so add in something that works on that too {Alexander etc}
I found some older videos at the library about somatics {Tomas Hanna{sp} }and Alexander tech- i think both were interesting and helpful to me.
Posture is one thing that I absolutely have to work on. I know I have bad posture, and have HAD bad posture for quite a while. Hope everyone is having a relatively pain-free day!! :rolleyes:
I am also trying to work on posture...!!! It is Sooooooooo hard. I have been soooo bad for so long.
At Conster's suggestion, I am trying a posture corrector now for work when using the computer. I also have very bad posture- and have found that all my muscles that are supposed to hold me up complain when I sit "properly" for too long b/c they are so used to the old ways....
Might be something to consider.
This is the one I bought, there are many out there...
Hi Everyone,
As most of you know I moved to the country less than a year ago. I love the area. But my husband does not have a job here. So he only comes here on weekends.
I feel horriable because my husband rented our house in the city and they are good renters, and my husband is giving them notice. I feel bad for them.
But I had major surgery a bit over amonth ago. Cervical Spine surgery C4-7. I also had TOS surgery in March. It's to much on me to be out here on my own all week. I can barely take care of my youngest son here on my own.
Not to mention their are no Docs to help me out here. I guess it's back to city life for me. Hugs, Roz
Today I..... read a read a good article in the Wall Street Journal (needed to fall asleep:rolleyes: ) about a lady in N.E. Tennessee who had insurance, got kicked off TennCare, added to BCBS, died and then was declared disabled. Sad story, but a good article about the struggles of those without insurance. I attached it in pdf format (i think). Had a bad night last night- I had to leave the dinner table to lay down - i thought my arm and/or was going to explode. Its tough to explain that feeling......
The first neurologist that I was sent to, was WONDERFUL....But, I wasn't able to keep going to him because he was "kicked off" of our insurance plan. Why? Because he raised holy h%@# with them because they let one of his patients (who had insurance with the same co. I do) die by denying them care.....Isn't that just typical....
Today I realize I need to check out this thread everyday because this is where all the action is!! LOL!! I have missed so much!! Alot I could learn and use, and alot I would like to respond to! I will try and stay on my toes from now on!!
Hey all, just a thought... when you post a site or share helpful info., how about also starting a new thread for those of us that don't always make it through all of the threads posted. That way you can find things to read that relate to you quickly! Also newbies or slowpokes like me might miss out on good stuff like the things you have posted in this thread.
Thanks you guys, and wishes and hope for a good day for all!!
