I have a ton of these but will start with
iHerb (http://www.iherb.com)
because I really appreciate their
HEALTH ENCYCLOPEDIA (http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductsList.aspx?c=Herbs&cid=health)
as it gives great info on supplements, conditions and supplement-drug interactions etc etc
and their
NATURAL PHARMACY (http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetContent.aspx?token=e0498803-7f62-4563-8d47-5fe33da65dd4)
plus
MEDICAL LIBRARY (http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetContent.aspx?token=0a1af489-5b4c-4f2d-978e-3930be13b1f6)
and
DRUG DATABASE (http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetContent.aspx?token=0a1af489-5b4c-4f2d-978e-3930be13b1f6&docid=/lexidrugdb_English/alpha_A)

and sooooo much more on just this one informative website
(I also order a lot of our supplements from them because I find their prices and shipping rates to be really low, and they stock most of the brands and products that we use :) )

Also there is the Linus Pauling Institute. They just revamped this site, and it
is much more complete, and "newer". But it does not have everything on it.

http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/

The educational material at iherb, remains excellent. They have the German
Commisson on Herbs, as well as other things there too. The German data is
still thought to be the most complete world-wide.

I'll be updating this post, as I have time with other references.

ACN/Latitudes (http://www.latitudes.org)is an excellent resource for alternative treatments and lots of other useful info related to Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders, AD(H)D, Autism/Aspergers, OCD and Learning Disorders
and Sheila Rogers, the administrator of the site has just published a most informative and comprehensive book on Tics and Tourettes: Breakthrough Discoveries in Natural Treatments (http://www.latitudes.org/book.html)

to see how times have changed. From being flamed endlessly for suggesting
alternative, useful things for people, so that they can have a good quality of
life, to now, seeing people who have accomplished just that...a quality of life that they deserve.

Now we have so much more public info, and data (which is no longer hidden
in the ivory towers of research).. that people really do have options now
to take control of their lives..to improve the quality of those lives.

The rapid and positive responses here are so wonderful for me. For so long I felt like a lone "voice".

The government has put up some interesting and useful websites lately:

http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information/Information_About_Individual_Dietary_Supplements.a spx

The main page:
http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information/Health_Information.aspx

The information on magnesium is excellent, and explains elemental issues..which many places do not.

This particular database moves around from University to University.

My old link to one closed, but this one just opened up:
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/

There are really interesting things on this site!
The depletions section is very complete.

And the Vitamin/mineral depletions by drugs is also useful.

I put the university site in my favorites :) , but then I emailed them about the incorrect :( B12 and pernicious anemia information. Groan. Please all, do not rely on their B12 information.

Thanks, as always, mrsdoubtfyre. What would we do without you. :) My aunt just benefitted greatly from a change in magnesium type.

References for medication/drug induced vitamin/nutrient interaction/depletion are included below, information from some of which is referred to by other posts (reference threads) within this forum. In certain instances, you may find a number of different internet sites that utilize information from the same primary database provider (e.g. Healthnotes, Inc.). Only one reference site is included for each of these instances (alleviating redundancy). The internet sites believed to be the most recent/complete are nearest the top. Most references here list information by drug:

I found a blog today with some useful information on it.

Here is the link to supplements and the most common drug interactions for this blood thinner:
http://www.drug-injury.com/druginjurycom/drugdrug_interactions/index.html
Starting with the herbs and supplements, Dr. Paauw had an easy-to-remember bit of advice: be particularly careful with herbs and supplements beginning with the letter "G". Garlic, ginger, and gingko biloba, all increase the anticoagulation of Coumadin (warfarin). Meanwhile, ginseng decreases the anticoagulation of Coumadin (warfarin).

Drugs commonly involved, but by no means ALL of them:
During his presentation, Dr. Paauw listed several other prescription drugs that are likely to interact with Coumadin, including these:

* erythromycin,
* amiodarone,
* Diflucan (fluconazole),
* Nizoral (keotoconazole),
* Sporanox (itraconazole), and
* mentronidazole.

Dr. Paauw also mentioned that the use of Prilosec (omeprazole) or Tylenol (acetaminophen) while using Coumadin at the same time can affect a patient's INR.

Basically almost EVERYTHING can affect warfarin levels..the list is very long.
But the ones listed here are the most commonly found.
Left off the list was Cipro... and I am concerned about that.

Here is a more complete listing:

The following laboratories specialize in the testing of vitamin/nutrient deficiencies and metabolic dysfunction. These labs have a somewhat different approach as compared to traditional laboratories and target the body’s biochemical/metabolic functions:

Genova Diagnostics http://www.gdx.net
SpectraCell Laboratories http://www.spectracell.com

I found a website recently that has the information from the
reference I use on their website. It is not 100% complete like the book, but very close and very useful:
