This story was on NPR this morning about this reporter who tested his blood for 320 chemicals. Read about what he found out. He also tests how he spikes his mercury blood levels by eating swordfish and halibut! You can get to the link for National Geographic, where this article is featured, from the NPR website:

Add our daily chemical load to GMOs and it's a wonder why we develop cancer, autism, and autoimmune diseases!

That is a really good article Claire - but very frightening. With all the chemical exposure and all the processed foods, do the kids have a chance  I wonder what my DDT levels are. I loved the smell of it and would sneak into the room after my mother sprayed. She would spray it in the bedrooms a few hours before we went to sleep.
I have been reading lately that increased lead levels and exposure to tobacco smoke before birth are linked to ADD. The levels of lead that were causing problems were lower than what is considered "safe" by the FDA.
The study's estimate is in line with a National Academy of Sciences report in 2000 that said 3 per cent of all developmental and neurological disorders in children are caused by toxic chemicals and environmental factors and 25 per cent are due to a combination of environmental factors and genetics.

What a great article...I am bookmarking it...
And you know the "smells" from my new car are giving me the
heebeejeebees!
Just lately, history wise we are seeing many more MALES with thyroid
issues. This is very unusual, as women have always been the most affected.
The flame retardants are the culprits...I have seen articles to that effect.
And my son now is having such cold hands/feet..that I am urging him to
see a doctor and get tested! (besides me I have 2 relatives on my side with
thyroid disease as well).
Thanks so much for posting it!
