John,
Thank You so much for the Colloid Cyst site. Hopefully others will make it over to this "new" forum.

Would I be asking too much in requesting a Tramatic Brain Injury site, and possibly a Brain Tumor/Cancer forum? I know you are working on so many right now, and these were not high volume forums on the old BT site, but they are very worthwhile and helpful to those who have dealt with, or have family members dealing with these issues.

Thank You so very much, Dodi

Also, can you give me instructions on adding stickies? I may have some additional websites that would be helpful with some of these issues.

Thank you again, Dodi

docJohn, thank you for the caregivers room. I feel it was needed when so many are caregivers here.

I had asked for an Alzheimers/Dementia forum, but several other posts posted that we needed a cargivers room, which we did.

thank you for making a place for us all. thank you, Jo

Is there a reason for not giving us a Cancer forum and Abuse forum?

Shotspine,

It's more likely ... not that the forums are being denied, but simply "missed" since DocJ. said that if he missed any, please post them here ;).

Is there a reason for not giving us a Cancer forum and Abuse forum?

Hi Shotspine, I see where we need a cancer forum, but of course I am no the "doc"

My mom had brain cancer, and of course there are many forms. my sister has breast cancer. the list goes on. I hope that it will be granted.

I guess I sound stupid, but what type of Abuse do you mean? Many forms as we all know. Shotshine, I have been treated for Chronic pain for many years and I can say that I never got "high" off any of them. I've takes some pretty strong stuff too. but, some do.

Theres phsyical abuse , I was trapped in that one for years, but one day I said NO MORE! I walked out took my 4 kids and left that sob!

I hope the Dr. will talk to you about both of those causes. I can see a need for both.

good luck, Jo

Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you as well for the new home and all the work you've put into it. It is greatly appreciated. :)

Hi DocJohn, hate to be a pest but I also asked for a Pet forum, comic relief forum and most of all an art/poetry forum. If I missed that they are already here I apologize but I kind of have to check in here for short periods at a time until late nite...when I use this site to keep me awake between turns and meds LOL

OMG DocJohn, I may have to post this under an emergency thread! I just noticed we have no kissing or hugging smilie. How can we be supportive without one of those. Please drop everything or and fix this immediately or I might be driven to the point of over-reacting to this crisis. Thank you. ;)

OH JO....
I guess I didn't think it thru. I didn't specify either Cancer or Abuse types due to so many. I never even thought of drug/med/alcohol abuse, was thinking mental/emotional/physical like you AND me have lived thru. OBT had Domestic Abuse but seemed limiting. If you have a suggestion for a name, I'm all for something else.

Cancer has so many different areas also and granted there is lots and lots on the web. I was thinking just generic for the posters that already are members and have their support systems on these forums if/when they have to deal with cancer for themselves or loved ones. My thought was letting members already getting their support here to have a place to go without having to look for new support systems on Cancer only forums.

I've been pretty sick from Med s/e so please excuse my mental absence. I hope my explanations above make sense. If not, please feel free to add anything.

PS I also take my share of narcotics and have never gotten high. That was the last thing I was thinking when I suggested an abuse forum. I'm so sorry.

Trekker....I agree with your requests!!!! Especially Pet forum and Hugs/Kisses smileys......lots of them

lol @ you, don't apologize for THAT. I tell you, I feel so draged out some days I can hardly function. now Dr. want me to go or Lyri spmething or other, and everybody says it makes them forgetful. I said not to the change, but he says it will help the nerve pain. I can't take anymore right now. lol

Shotspine, I didn't know if you had certain forims or not, thats why I mentioned it. You see, I was asking for Alzheimer's/Dementia/caregivers forum. the Doc. did the caregivers and I don't see anything on the Alzheimer's Dementia. I was glad to get the caregivers but I think we need the other 2. On the BT forums they had a caregivers, many times it was a place to meet, but no support.. I never felt comfortable talking there.

Maybe they are trying to put things together, but I saw something earlier, the memory thingy again, but I would think they would put disease forums before some of the others.

I don't know Spotshine, I'm nuts anyway. I do hope they do the Cancer one. Good luck, Jo

Hey Jo.....
Bet your Doc is talking about Lyrica. Heard lots of pros and cons. I am so med sensitive I spend half my life trying meds and getting sick from them. No one listens, just wants me to try others. I have a boat load of bottles I can't take. Now I'm on this stupid road again because my ins. co. demands I take 4 different pain meds before they will authorize LIDODERM PATCHES!!! Long rant would follow if I felt good enough. It took 4 years of every pain med on market to find 2 I can take (and I already do). Don't need......just want the stupid lidoderm.

I always hung out at Chronic Pain mostly and Spinal Disorders. I didn't post a whole lot though but my life revolved around the info and support for many years. When I needed the caretakers forum, it hadn't been born yet.

Don't worry about being nuts......you have a lot of company (speaking for myself only:eek: )

I hope you get your forums soon. Keep posting........bigger font maybe????

Many Hugs and Blessings for you:)

Please, could you add a forum for Parents with Disabilities?

I have MS, I use a wheelchair, I have three young children. Anyone with a disability already faces issues of isolation. Add children and the issues become more challenging.

Because of my issues, I have almost no real-life contact with other parents. I have zero contact wth other parents with disabilities. I have tried repeatedly to find online sources of community for parents with disabilities and been unsuccessful.

If you added a forum here for Parents with Disabilities, I would be thrilled. I also know there are plenty of young parents with disabilities and chronic illness who could use a common place for support.

To make it clear: This would be to support disabled parents, not parents of children with disabilities.

I had asked before at BT, but I think it may have been confused with child neurology.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I think a good idea and adding one word might be good too. :) "Parents with Disabilities" or "Parents Living with Disabilities". I, personally, think that a great idea for a forum.

I know many times my pain issues were difficult for me, but also difficult for my family to even understand, let alone help me with. It didn't matter how I felt, the children still got sick, still got in fights, still needed dinner... Then when I would have to have a surgery, or procedure, dealing with their fears and helping them with understanding was HUGE.

My children are grown now, but I have my little man that I'm raising who will be 4 next month. I would certainly contribute.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Please, could you add a forum for Parents with Disabilities?

YES! I second and third this! I am not "disabled" in the clinical sense, but when you live with a "hidden" condition and are trying to raise children (esp one with a disability as well), keep a house, maintain a marriage, etc., something like this is very needed and much appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Shotspine, you dare doing just fine. I had thought about the Alz. room then someone mentioned Dementia and I hab not even thought of it. the 2 are alike in so many ways, He did put up the A&D Forum today. now I don't know what to say lol I hope people will use it. Many came by caregiver today. Some real urgent needs there. Glad he made that one.

They have an addiction forum, but if you're thinking about meds. we take I know many take them just for the fun of it. I know the street name and price of many on the streat. the price is staggering. Yes indeed, that kind of abuse needs addressing.
I hate to even say it but My DIL is addicted and she has done some really bad things. Has 4 kids and my son, her hubby a policeofficer. She seems to be doing better but she still tskes the pain meds, but son has to dole them out. I know she can't be the only one, you kow? well good luck and I think they will think of itwhen they can do it . take care shotspine, Jo ((((shotspine))))

I originally participated on PTSD forum on the OBT quite a while ago, but stopped because it was no longer helpful for me, in fact, at some time in time it can become detrimental. At least, that is my opinion. I often thought that what was so difficult about being involved in a PTSD forum is that you have many people who have experienced many different types of trauma and who also are at different stages of recovery, as well.

Anyway, there came a point in time, that I knew I did not belong there anymore. It wasn't right for me. However, I still need a lot of help and encouragement in exploring this thing called "my life." I am suggesting to have another "Forum for Emotional Support" like in the OTB. I believe this could be helpful to anyone that needs a little encouragement in their own life journey, no matter what their challenges may be.

Dear Doc John,

Dystonia affects people with all sorts of neurological diseases and conditions (MS, metabolic disorders, cerebral palsy, TBI, tardive dyskinesia from meds for all kinds of disorders, etc etc)

We really need a dystonia forum! Movement disorders is nice....don't get me wrong. (thank you!) And maybe that will be enough, but I wonder if it isn't too much to throw together (esp. considering spasticity is often described as an md!)

maybe others have an opinion about whether MovementDisorders is too broad, or whether we need dystonia/myoclonus/tremor forums?

Okay, maybe 3rd time is a charm.....

I would like to see the following, or an explanation why they shouldn't be included.

Cancer forum.....pretty much everyone has someone in their life that has/is dealing with cancer. Some members from OBT got cancer while participating on the forums for other reasons. It would be nice if they had a place to meet with the support system they already enjoy on this board. Personally, as my friends go thru treatment it would be nice if they had a forum where they could discuss their treatment and provide links/info so those that wished to could follow along. It would help to offer support in a more informed manner.

Abuse forum.......I wasn't clear before and it got off the track I was thinking about. I would like to see PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL/VERBAL ABUSE forum. A link to PsychCentral would certainly be appropriate as a sticky.

The Meralgia Paresthetica Forum on OBT was extremely helpful. I know many doctors and people have no knowledge about "MP". Just having people to talk to that undersatand and know what MP is helps a great deal. I did receive a lot of information on the forum. It can be a very painful illness. I am hopeful you will consider adding it. I guess it was not always as active as some others but I am making the request with hope.

If enough of us MGers find BT2, it would be kinda nice to have our own Myasthenia Gravis forum, like we did on OBT. But otherwise, being in the autoimmune diseases will probably work out fine, since so many of us also have other autoimmune problems going on.
I'm easy to get along with, you see! I'm just tickled pink to have found BT2 at all, I'll take any forum you want to stick us MGers under! :D :D

I would also like to see a forum on this. How about one on "Integrated Medicine", my own daughter has cerebral palsy spastic quadrilegia and G-Therapy which has recently been spoken about in The Times of India has been the only therapy after trying a great many that has given us any positive hope. Dr. Oswal is treating many different neurological disorders from toddlers to adults.

Is it possible to have some kind of review forum where we can report our experiences with different treatments, medical products, maybe meds (or maybe meds should be seperate?) I know Lyrica is being used for several conditions and there are discussions about it right now on several forums -why not have a single forum to report side effects/results so any person whose Dr is prescribing it can go to that forum and see what others have experienced?

I just had an Advanced Bionics SCS implanted yesterday, and wd be helpful if there was a forum to record experiences for future patients considering SCS to go directly to, rather than searching entire site. Same for pain pumps, infusions, etc, etc,.

You might be able to see which brand of a product has higher satisfaction among members, or get answers to questions, or relieve anxiety between Dr's hours. Other people's experiences are often more valuable in making a decision than a Dr's off-the-cuff recommendation.

It wouldn't mean people couldn't discuss such things in the forum, it wd be in addition to, to keep sort of an archive that could be easily accessed. What do you think?

Doc John, thanks lots and lots for BT2 - I'm lovin' it!

I agree that Myasthenia Gravis, LEMS and CMS should have a separate forum. Autoimmune diseases have very specific differences and treatments and it may get confusing to have them all grouped together. All three of these are considered neuromuscular junction disorders/diseases.

MG (Myasthenia Gravis): An autoimmune disease that causes an antibody attack to the neuromuscular junction.
LEMS (Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome): Also a disorder of neuromuscular transmission.
CMS (Congenital Myasthenic Syndromes): A group of genetic defects that cause a variety of disturbances at the neuromuscular junction.

I have CMS. It would be more likely that another person with CMS would log on if it was in the title of a new topic category. I now know of no one with CMS and it would help tremendously if I did.

Thank you!
