today's Daily Bread was such a very relevant one for those who are dealing with painful afflictions that I thought to draw special attention to it

today's Daily Bread may be just what someone "fearing the worst" needs to read, and also could encourage someone to draw alongside of a friend going through something that is causing them fear and anxiety

The message in today's Daily Bread really made me reflect deeply

So often we bear such a heavy burden of guilt over unforgiveness of ourselves for things that God has already forgiven us, or we carry those burdens of unforgiveness toward others....

time to clean out the files and keep no copies!

Thanks Cheri. That was a good one. :)

Seems like the more we try to bring comfort and convenience into our lives, the more hectic our lives become. I try my best to stay in the moment and cherish that time.

A comedian on TV (can't remember his name) told a story about his little boy at a fountain. He told the little boy to make a wish, then toss the penny into the water. After the boy had tossed the penny, he asked the boy what he wished for. The boy said he wished to toss the penny in the water. :p :D

When things don't go as planned or if I'm stuck waiting for something for long periods of time, it's best to just go with the flow. It's a great opportunity to learn the art of patience - it has it's rewards. :cool: I prefer to use that time for reflection and prayer on other matters.

That was a good one Cheri.

I had to drive out to Indiana one day, but my car had been acting up. I was really scared because it was very cold outside, and I didn't have a cell phone.

As I was about to enter the toll way, I said a prayer to God. It was my usual vague prayer asking that he give me no more than I can handle. I learned not to specify because he seems to know what's best for me. What I want isn't always what's best for me. :o

About a mile or so along the toll way, my car breaks down in the left lane. I managed to get it to the shoulder, but not completely. I put on my hazard lights, stayed in the car and tried to remain calm. Then I looked into the mirror and panicked - there was a bend behind me and traffic couldn't see my car until they were right on top of me. :eek:

I decided to get out and wait on the shoulder, but then I realized what part of the neighborhood I was in. I saw a group of young men at a nearby park that should either be in school or at work and realized my vulnerability. :eek:

Boy was I mad. You should have seen me out there yelling at God, lol. "Thanks a lot, DAD" :D

A few minutes later a tow-truck pulls up. He takes us back to his shop near our home and gave me a ride home. He's honest and trustworthy, and he's been our mechanic ever since. :cool:

I had a good laugh when I got home. I handled it okay, I was unharmed, and apparently I needed a good mechanic too. :p

today's Daily Bread has a really good message about growing attitudes...and sowing and reaping what we nurture!

done a lot of reflecting today on the fact that, where today's Daily Bread was talking about sowing and reaping emotionally and spiritually, yet so many are dealing with physical ailments that are by no means a reaping of what they have sowed

similarly, sorrows and turmoil and disaster can often strike those who most surely have not sowed such seed in their lives........quite the opposite is often the case!

so

those are the times when we find ourselves before God asking a big :mfr_wha:

yet
during my reflection, I realised once again that God can and does turn such times when the unexpected and undeserved have knocked us down, into occasions for Him to lift us up and put us in a better place than where we were before

sure seems to have worked that way in my 5 decades on this ole earth:)

Worry is the interest you pay on borrowed trouble.

Psalm 23
A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

today's Daily Bread was such a timely reminder for me about taking troubles to God instead of carrying their heavy weight alone.

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even Time began
My Life was in His Hands

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call

I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
Nomatter where I roam

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call

today's Daily Bread held a very special message of encouragement for me and I hope it does for you too!
So often we are so busy being busy (even sometimes busy about "God's business" :rolleyes: ) that we forget to make time for what matters! Loving God, caring about other people and the simple pleasures of life and nature........ah! those blessed priorities:)

Here is today's Daily Bread

today's Daily Bread speaks much to me, as I am a prodigal who was blessed to be welcomed home by our Father 25 years ago.

I dont think we can ever fully comprehend the depths of God's love for *ALL* of His children, and I pray we would never ever begrudge anyone His blessing and acceptance.

Here is the link to today's Daily Bread message:

http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb-11-27-07.shtml

Welcome Home by Tammy Trent
I was taken back when You took me in
Just to wipe my tears away
You made no demands chose not to blame
Though I knew You had the right to
And I saw the years I wasted
Searching everywhere in vain
Finding nothing to believe in
Until I finally heard you say

Welcome Home My mercy's waiting
Welcome Home to open arms
There's no shame in your returning
Though you may have wandered far
Welcome Home

That was years ago so far away
At an altar on my knees
But I can still recall like yesterday
How Your love forever changed me
Oh I see how You've been faithful
Though I've often caused you pain
And I've learned you won't forsake me
When I need to hear you say

Welcome Home My mercy's waiting
Welcome Home to open arms
There's no shame in your returning
Though you may have wandered far
Welcome Home

You know, I'm glad I stopped in here. As I was trying to cheer myself up today, I was reminded of something I read somewhere, "Count your blessings, not your problems." I tried to take that to heart yesterday when I was feeling bad about being alone at Christmas. I did make me feel better to realize that I do have some blessings. Even though I have been unemployed for almost a year now, I have my own home, heat and food. Some aren't so lucky. Trying to have faith and courage and believing in myself is the hard part.

Thank you so much for this.

Encouragement today for all who give of themselves to help others along the way :grouphug:

A word of encouragement can make the difference between giving up or going on.

http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb-12-30-07.shtml

Sometime in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise we know that there's
Always tomorrow

Lean on me when you're not strong and
I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride if I have things
You need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
that you won't let show

Just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long till 'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road, I'll share your load
if you just call me

Just call me when you need a friend
Just call me when you need a friend...

Thanks, Cheri for sharing this with me an the rest of the gang. It really hit me close. Nine years ago we lost a granddaughter to SIDs. My hubby and myself didn't shut the door on God, but our daughter did. Everyday prayers were said for her by many Christians. It took a few years for her to come back into God's arm, but she did.

Again, thank you.

and get my priorities back in correct order :)

The Daily Bread message for today is so spot on about "Ending Escalation" that I wanted to share it here as a reminder for all of us who may be in a position where someone else has hurt or angered us

To return good for good is natural; to return good for evil is supernatural.
