I am looking for a used slider type shower/commode chair to use when my mother comes to visit my new home (it has a tub and I want to avoid having to put in a roll-in shower for their visits which are only a couple times a year).

I am looking for products similar to these:

http://www.disabledshopper.com/Bathr...w_it_works.htm

http://www.nuprodx.com/chair6000tx.htm

http://store.yahoo.com/am/slidtransys.html

If you have a used one, please respond here or send me a private message. Thanks!

K*L*D, will you let us know if you do find what you're looking for? :)

Too, I was wondering: If you don't find what you're looking for, would the idea of a med. equip. "loan closet" possibly work for your Mom's visits? Some, I was noticing, don't have a time limit on the duration.

I have to say, I'm afraid to give it up!
Here's the site to the one I have:
www.dynamic-living.com/moen-transfer-bench.htm
It's liteweight, in that you can move it out for others' normal use, easy to assemble & my DH found it at one of the hardware chains for about half the quoted price. My only complaint is that the seat is 'really MOLDED!' in that getting in is far, far easier than getting out...but I'd two bum feet at the time...
It was also good for selective showering after some surgery..that and a super long shower head on a long or double hose work great...along with some velcro tab-strips I'd found at same chain to keep the hose from becoming unruly.

Another similar source-looking a bit different is:
http://aids-daily-living.medical-supplies-equipment-company.com/product/PPF/ID/12858/new_... A 'blow-molded transfer bench'
I hope this helps you find what you need. The one I got was easy to assemble and adjust...The tub side I put higher than the 'out' side part so I could get out- it was easy to adjust, even for PN fumble fingers - Please let us all know..we never know when we will need something...especially if there's a better resource out there. Great minds at work & all! - j

Dahlek, yes I am very familiar with those devices. I am a rehab nurse with over 30 years experience in that field.

For my mother's situation, the only thing that is really workable is the type that I have listed or gutting my bathroom and putting in a roll-in shower. She has PPMS (EDSS 8.5) so is totally dependent in both the transfer and bathing. We use a lift for transfers, which won't work with those devices. We need the same device to roll over the toilet. My parents gutted the bathroom and put in a roll-in shower in their home, but I can't justify the expense when they only come to visit a couple times a year. When I travel with them we only stay in hotels or cruise ships that have a roll-in shower and use her own rolling shower/commode chair.

Thanks for your comments though.
