It will be hard for me to trust John Lester's intentions after this long, long incommunicato wait. Let's hope there will be better communication and much more community empowerment if and when the original BrainTalk comes up.
what is said in the welcoming message, if there is any.
Thanks for posting this, I tried the plain link, and it was a blank screen
for me...but this one did work!

so that we can know what it says.

Okay, I get the same message some of you got when you clicked on the link.
Mine said "MAC OS X SERVER FILE NOT FOUND.
I have absolutely no idea why some of us get this message and others can read a message from John Lester.
Someone should copy and paste the message from John lester into a post on these boards. Maybe then we'd find out what happened to the original Brain talks.

were also chronicles and data regarding the progression of my neuropathy. I never kept any notes or journals, and would often refer to my old posts to see what was going on at different times.
When the forum crashed and all the archives and posts disappeared it was very discouraging. I'm not blaming anyone in particular but I do beleive that some sort of weekly or fortnightly communication would have been in order.

The message he HAD on was that he was busy loading all the software and reloading all the databases. It was dated 9/24. The message went off line about 1/2 hour after my posting. I should have known better and saved a screen print and just attached it.
Unlike others, I'm starting to get seriously irritated with John's lack of communication with us. Others have been seriously irritated for a long time.

Hi David~
Was the message he had up similar to the email some people got? I didn't get one, but someone posted this here, on BT2, and I copied it. ( I took out his email address.)

Aussie99,
There are ways of accessing the old posts through google by doing a search and then clicking on the link that says "cached" under each search result. That brings you to the google cached page (basically a copy/picture of the page) where you would be able to see your old posts and copy/paste the text to your hard drive to save then if you wish.
Here are the results of a google search i did by using your screen name and telling google to look only for pages on hastypastry.net (the braintalk server).
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=aussie99&num=10&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=hastypastry.net&as_rights=&safe=images
If you click on the blue text that says "cached" under each link you should be able to see some of your old posts, and you can change the search criteria if you are looking for a specific old post.
I hope that helps, but if you are looking for a more specific post just let me know some of the details and I can do a better search for you :)

In the last year plus, other support sites have had histories of total crash and burn...some for SEVERAL, rather than a few months....In some instances, ALL prior histories were lost. It happens.
I don't know about anyone else, but trust in the administratiion/administrators has little to do with it..trust in the PROGRAM= hardware & software is the issue. We all work with what we have and do our best. Be grateful for what we have, it's not perfect but it sure beats nothing! - j

Hi Melody:
I got that "OS" odd messge too and finally Googled Brain Talk Communities and found a link to the new Brain Talk 2 Forum. Is Doc John a different person from John Lester? I think he probably is, but this sure is confusing.
So glad to be able to read the Forum again and your posting. Melody. Hope you are doing well.

Wittesea, I did what you said & found my old posts. Thanks (I found out when I joined  )

dahlek,
Thanks for restoring perspective. When my PN started 13 years ago, the internet was pretty primitive compared to now. There was no Google. Also, it took me three years to get a diagnosis so I wouldn't have known what to look up.
I remember the feelings of being isolated and frightened in my agony and ignorance. Besides no forums, there weren't many non-computer resources for the lay person. Even "Numb Toes..." hadn't been written. Now there are several forums and many good books, any one of which would have been a precious lifeline to me back then.

rainzy, I'm glad I was able to help you find your old posts :)
Silver Swan (Shirley), Yes John Lester and DocJohn are 2 completely different people. DocJohn runs a website with support forums called PsychCentral. When DocJohn noticed that BrainTalk was offline for so long, he set up this community because he was concerned about all the people who depended on BrainTalk and had no support.
This is the message that DocJohn originally posted on his psychcentral website
http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2006/08/11/what-happened-to-the-braintalk-communities/
As you can see from the conversation on that psychcentral link, DocJohn decided to set up this place for us, and then later decided based on member feedback that he would keep this place online permanantly no matter what happens to BrainTalk.
So, this support community is here to stay.

I put this into my browser, and got a list of sites that had au s in them. What should I do to get the ones with my posts?
Or, say, the B12 posts Rose put under the stickies?

Lizajane,
There is a post in the Community & Forum Feedback forum about finding old posts.
http://forums.braintalk2.org/showthread.php?t=1699
If you scroll down to post number 8 in that thread there is a post from me that better explains how to do the google searches, and how to refine the searches to find specific things.
If that doesn't help, just let me know what old posts you are looking for and I can try to find them for you :)

Thank you for your help, but I am unable to access any of these posts, as I am constantly getting error messages. I don't even get "cached" come up in order to click on it.
Thank you
