View Full Version : About the most romantic thing my hubby said to me lately

My husband and I don't have much a romantic relationship anymore. We both believe in marriage, we are comfortable with each other, have learned to ignore a lot of the others faults. We sleep in seperate bedrooms but that started when I had to quit work and my sleep pattern was terrible and he snored so. The kids were al gone so I had plenty of rooms to chose from. So he even has the master bath and I have the hall bath!
Anyway. He has always said that he would die in his 60s or 70s just because that is the history of the men in the family. So we were talking today and he said he hadn't checked the lent in the venting from the dryer lately. So I told him he can't die before I did because I wouldn't have even thought to check that. So he said I couldn't die before him because I do all the bill paying and he wouldn't know where everything is. And then he smiled at me.
Sometimes it just takes a little thing out of the blue to make you feel appreciated.

I'm sure there are young people who wouldn't get that, but I get it.

I totally get it. Thanks for sharing the simple but important things we should be thankful for.

Please keep a check on your dryer lent trap.......it's a fire waiting to happen if it's not cleaned out regularly!
Now that I've sounded totally like my mother :o I did enjoy reading about your romantic exchange. I totally get it....understand it.....and I'm just a little envious of it! :)

A conversation about a year ago:
Me: Why don't you ever say anything mushy to me anymore?
Bob: I figured I'd quit while I was ahead.
Me: Bob. You were never ahead.

Silver haired also! He is very protective of my MS. Made sure he got a luggage rack for our vacation so I can make sure I have my wheel chair. We don't know if we are going anywhere that I would need it but he wants me to make sure I have it. He does all the grocery shopping and his laundry. He will take my laundry down and bring it back up after I hang it up. He takes care of me he is just afraid to say those words. I learned a long time ago that with my man that actions speak louder than words.

Honestly, I'd much rather have the actions than the words. Words are empty without actions to back them up. Sounds like you've got a good guy, Doydie. :)

Yes, saying I love you is cheap. I say PROVE IT..:p
My DH was always there for me, my cheerleader and also took good care of me. He used to say I love you by squeezing my hand 3 times.:)

Mine said it alot early on in our marriage. Later he didn't say it as much but he did do things that showed me he loved me. I guess after so many years we just get comfortable and assume that it's known. It's still nice to hear it once in a while, though.

I get it, too, and I think it was a sweet exchange between people who love and care about each other.

I get it too- I know that having my coffee pot filled and ready to go for first thing in the morning (and he HATES coffee) is my husband's way of expressing his love for me. I could care less if I never get flowers again, as long as he does the little things that say so much. And he kills the bugs too:eek:

Lent vs. Lint? I'm thinking you guys are Catholic??? J/K!!!
I couldn't help myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=WEJJUGJZxpU
I actually know someone whose NEW home caught on fire due to the lint thingy being installed incorrectly. Instead of directing it out the roof, it was left to collect in the attic.

We did have a fire in our lent thingy one time a long time ago. That's why my husband checks it as often as he does. And I'm sure it's still not often enough.
