Before I proceed any further, I need to know if I am in the right forum.

I have had off and on tingling and numbness in both hands and feet that started on March 8th, the day after I started physical therapy for neck and back pain. I had been to a chiropractor prior to PT and am now under the care of a physiatrist.

I am a 61 year old female with a lot of back problems - you name it, I have it: scoliosis, degenerative joint disease, spinal stenosis, buldging and herniated discs, etc..

I have had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands 8 years ago. Solved that problem pronto.

This is different.

I do not have diabetes.

Is this the correct forum to discuss this problem? If not, can you direct me as to where I can go? Thank you. :)

Thanks for the information. I did see a neurosurgeon in January (before the current numbness and tingling in hands and feet) for back related problems and numbness in my left thigh resulting from a herniated disc 8 years ago. He said there was nothing he could do - the nerves were already damaged after 8 years. And for my other back problems - he said there wasn't anything he could do - fusion would not be indicated.

I guess if the physiatrist can't help (he ordered a cervical MRI) and did some steroid injections for other problems (neck and shoulder pain and occipital neuralgia) and is going to do some nerve studies - I guess I will move on to a neurologist. This all started out with just neck pain and with each medical provider something new developed. It just keeps snowballing. But the numbness & tingling is the hardest to live with.

Again, thanks.

When do you get the Cervical MRI?
It will help to know what it shows or not..

Ask for a copy of the report to be sent to you so you can look up some of the terms to ask better questions when you have the follow up appt later on.

He just ordered it Wednesday - the insurance company has to approve it. And I always get a copy of all my test results. My last MRI was of my back and that was June 2011. It was what the neurosurgeon looked at in January and said he couldn't do anything.
