I am losing my bi-pap machine after 2 years of fighting with my insurance company. If you could help me locate one in which I could make payments it would be a life saver....no joke! My name is Chris Zimmer and I live in San Antonio,TX. I saw your ad and thought I would send my request out. Thanks in advance. P.S. I am an emt and work for a private ambulance company so I would not have a huge down payment, but I can get references.

Chris;
Sorry - I just saw your thread. I donated the machine I had back in '06. HOWEVER, my husband may be switching to a different kind so his would be available. I should know something in the next month or so. Let me know if you are still interested.
Take care,
Nancy-H

Hi, I'm new, sort of. Used to be here a long time ago. Came back in because I saw a thread on Bi-Pap on a Google link. I don't use a Bi-pap but am aware of the difficulty patients have in obtaining one because of insurance problems. I'm in the process of getting started on a campaign to lobby Medicare and other insurers to reconsider guidelines for insuring the bi-pap. While they are useful for treating sleep apnea, they are vital to some patients with respiratory failure due to muscle weakness as opposed to lung disease or other ailments. I would be grateful if you would share you experiences with me. Perhaps it would give me some ammunition for this appeal.
Thanks, Helene, my screen name. My real name is Marika

Chris, you probably already know this, but Craigslist and a few other places list used machines.
You can go to CPAPTALK.COM and ask around. They are probably the largest CPAP/BiPaP forum around.
CPAPauction.com sells them, new and used, for a lot cheaper than many retails outlets. I was just in it and there are 5 units. I do not understand the pricing but one is listed for $100.
If you cannot find the website PM me.

I need a bipap machine. I lost my insurance at the end of May and just got a denial from a grant I requested to buy me a bipap machine. I am low income and had to give up the machine my former insurance company was renting for me. Thanks, Clark aka SantaBear:hug:

Hi, Clark. I'm in the same boat that you're in....my insurance denied me after a year with a bipap that was being rented. I had a sleep study done with a result of 124 times I stopped breathing over a 7 hour period. Insurance doesn't care. I'm still searching for a used bipap or some way to get a grant. I'll let you know if I locate anything. Good luck to you!!

If you go to CPAPTALK.com you will learn the sleep centers/doctors, et al have one billing code and get paid the same amount, whether you get a $200 CPAP or a $800 BiPAP.
It it not rocket science to figure they recommend an inexpensive CPAP for nearly everyone.
I bought my wife a Respironics BiPAP Auto and tracked her breathing with Encore Pro's software. When the Sleep Center recommended a titration of 6 cmH2O I handed her doctor 30+ days worth of Encore Pro. Her EPAP was averaging around 6 and her IPAP was 10-14. I also gave him an ad with the EXACT spelling for the unit, the billing codes (from Apria's people) and so on.
She got the BiPAP because the doctor specified it. I called their specialist, offering to let him look at her Encore Pro print outs but he said no thanks. I asked how they could arrive at a titration of 6 when she obviously needed a higher one. He clammed up. I told him I was only trying to learn. He quit that company later.
E0470 is the HCPCS (Hix-Pix) code for a BiPAP...starting in 2006 if memory serves me correctly. You would be surprised how little the experts know. Finding a person who really knows the system is akin to finding the "Holy Grail"...or a good parking spot at the grocery store. :)
Being proactive is critical. I am still a HUGE pain in the rear for Apria. Three screw ups and I email corporate with the names, dates and what the problem appears to be. It has usually worked well for me.

I have a respironics bi pap machine with carry bag. I am a private party with only one machine, I do not need to use it anymore. I had the same fight with my insurance company when I first got my machine. They said breathing was not medically necessary. Instead of leaving the machine on a closet shelf I would like to pass it on to someone who needs it. I would be willing to sell it for way below the cost of an new machine from a medical supply company. If interested post contact information and I will supply the necessary details. Thanks

Have you sold your bi-pap machine?
I am very new to this site so if this is not the proper procedure please forgive me. I have a bipap machine for sale. I am a private party and only have one machine. It is a respironics bi pap pro. I also have a black padded carrying case.
I have the original owners manual and instruction book. I have no idea how many hours are on the machine. I used it for about 6 months and it has sat on a closet shelf in the bag for some time now. I have the tubing and mask but I would strongly suggest you buy new tubing and mask. I know a good supply company that you can order those things at a more reasonable cost if you are interested. Thanks Akua5058

I am very interested in purchasing the machine, if still available. I have a friend in desperate need of a bi-pap machine and I want to do what I can to assist her.

Hi Rubleaux
Yes, my machine is still avail. Let me know how you would like to proceed.
Thanks

I am glad you found each other!
I would suggest you take any details, or email information to
private PMs. (not visitor messages, which can be viewed by others).
If either of you post an email on this forum a computer bot will pick it up and it will appear on Google eventually, and stay there a LONG time.
So do be careful. ;)

Thank you MRS D I am new to this site and did not want to discuss private matters in the open forum and was not sure what the proper procedure was.

The best way is to send a PM with contact information. I am new to the site as well, so I have to figure out how that works. Let me experiment and get it done.

Hello. I am new here as well. I have a brand new Bipap machine that was prescribed to my mom and she was never able to use it. It is an older one, it is called VPAP 111. However it is still in the original box. It has all the tubes and the manuals. It comes with a padded carrying case as well.
I really hope that someone can use this. I know they can be quite expensive even with insurance. If someone is interested please let me know. Thanks
