Hi Everyone..A warm welcome to our new community members!!..Please continue to join us and contribute

The weather has been great, and the kitty's get to sit in the open windows..I cut the grass for the first time of the season, and have been doing yard work while trying to fit in some fishing as well..I stepped on a board with a nail in it this afternoon..owch!!..The nail didnt go in that far, maybe a 1/4 inch, but my foot hurts so bad I cant hardly walk on it, and theres a swollen spot the size of a half dollar around the tiny puncture wound..Ive been soaking it in epsom salts and icing it..the ice works better..I didnt think much of it at first, so I kept working..I should have quit for the day..I must have irritated it..Dumb move on my part.. ..Anyway, I am going to get to a Dr tomorrow because I cant remember the last time I had a tetanus shot..And on top of all this I have another nasty cold..:( ..I just got over one last week!..Maybe Ive been pushing myself too much

How was your week?

Steve, you'd better run to the emergency service and get a tetanus shot right away. Rusty nails are no joking matter.
As to your colds, when I was on Mirapex I had a runny nose all the time, induced rhinitis so to speak. Check out your meds, you might be taking an incompatible cocktail of them...?

Tere is ABSOLUTELY right.......you need to get to the ER ASAP. When I was 8 years old, I stepped on a nail in the ball of my left foot. I didn't tell my parents until nearly three days later because I was somewhere I should not have been when I did. By the third day however, there was a red swollen area around the puncture wound, was so sore I could not step on it, and it was throbbing like crazy. Also, I had a red streak running up my leg almost to my knee and climbing. I finally confessed whereupon I was rushed to the hospital where it was determined I had blood poisoning among several other things. I nearly died ! Was in the hospital 11 days. This is not something to mess with. Scrap the epsom salts and get your sweet self and sore tootsie to medical attention PRONTO !!!

wounds on the foot need to be thoroughly cleaned, try soaking with bentadine-thats what they use at er.
i've been busy at my farm and with my wife sarah and 4.5 yr old daughter ruthie. sarah has orchistrated new kitchen cabinets this week so we've been eating takeout and sandwiches. we finally got some rain. mothers day today so time to go-
i love this whole forum, brain talk, and try to read it all. i've learned more here about pd, pwp, caregivers, issues, research, politics, art, people helping each other, medical, pharma... more than i could ever learn from just my doctor or reading literature. :grouphug:

I'll chime in and say GO! If the speculation about your immune system adjusting itself should have some truth to it, then it is critical that you do so, Steve. This is time for Mainstream Medicine.

First... FREE PARIS!

Kidding.... :p

Steve, get that shot ASAP! Everyone is right with their advice. Not worth the risk.

Weather has been perfect here and it sure helps me feel better. I hate the cold weather but fortunately we don't get much of it in my part of the world, so that's good.

I'm hoping to start Azilect very soon. I've been fighting for months with my insurance carrier and working with the Teva pharmaceutical reps, so it looks promising. Now watch, after all my fighting, it won't work for me.

Gearing up for the NPF Young-Onset Conference coming up in Chicago July 5-7. The program turned out nice and registration is humming right along, so if you're thinking of going, get registered and/or get your scholarship requests in ASAP. Should be great fun!

Other than that, just working on the business and getting ready to start teaching at the college level soon. Really looking forward to it.

Have a great week everyone! :D

I just got back from the ER..They checked it out..x-rayed it..Gave me a Tetanus shot..It worked out better that I went to the ER because I can get finacial assistance and they said to come back tomorrow and see the social worker and get my Rx for Keflex and Cipro filled for free..My Medcare unfortunately doesnt go into effect untill June 1st..If I had gone to my Gen Dr I would have had to pay for the whole deal

Glad you're okay, Steve.

Todd, I can hardly wait to hear about my scholarship or non-scholarship. It's been quite a while, should I give up? You guys must be soooooooo busy! There's going to be so much good info and the atmosphere is so friendly. Seriously. I mean in a fun way. Well, anyhow, I hope I get to go.

Hi Everyone,

I had a very busy week this past week. We had company all week.

I had my Mother's Day Tea for my students and their mothers on Friday at school. I went all out on decorations, gifts and the program. I stayed up late many nights during the week! The children sang songs, recited poetry and did motions to some songs. I played an imovie which I had made from pictures taken throughout the year set to music. I burned each mother a dvd to take home as a gift, along w/gifts the children had made, roses, a love letter and a globe decorated w/tissue paper, glitter and decoupage. We decorated w/live flowers, ivy, clear lights, table cloths, candles, etc. It was very nice and very special. I meant it to be as this could be my last year teaching (you never know).

I have tons of end of the year things to catch up on at school, as I have gotten a bit behind on schoolwork.

Tomorrow is my birthday....(Happy birthday to me..........)

Life can be good at times.

LOL

Todd, I do hope Azilect works for you. I tried it and felt like it made my PD symptoms a little worse.

Where do you live? Maybe someone nearby on this forum could help you wirh transportation. Steve, you speculated in your post that maybe you were doing too much. I find that the more I try to do the more stupid accidents I have. I have to do things slowly so I focus on everything and remember I can't do things on auto pilot any more.

My sweet husband bought me an adult tri-cycle for Mother's day. I tried going around the block yesterday. Steering is going to take some time to relearn. Am looking forward to relearning how to steer and look forward to trying my bulb horn.

Hello Mary,
You don't know me because I've only recently started posting. My husband is the PWP. I read your posts and enjoy each one. I just want to add my sentiments to wish you a very SPARKLING BIRTHDAY! You sound like a wonderful teacher and your students and their parents were so lucky to have had you as their teacher this past year.

The birthday sentiments Chasmo expressed are inspiring and wonderful.
Thank you for making everyone feel better.

Again, Mary, Have a Wonderful Birthday!
