It's been getting very intense on here the last couple of days, so lets try to lighten things up. I just cannot read another 3000 word web site paste!!
Being from the UK many of the acronyms and abbreviations used by the predominately USA based users are lost on me. I get the easy ones:
PWP - People with Parkinson's
PD - Parkinson's Disease
Meds - Medication
After that I am struggling so come on PWP help me please.
Any contribution's welcome including new ones.
My suggestion for a new one with more P's in it:
PP - Painful Pasters (that's a joke before anyone takes offence!!)
I am British so I have a strange sense of humour, well being British I guess I am just strange! And being a PWP makes me even stranger.
Thank you
Chris

LOL - Lots of Love or Laughing out Loud
BRB - Be Right Back
LMAO - Laughing my a-- off :ROTFLMAO:
yw - your welcome
ty - thank you
sec - means one second (but usually more!)
k - means okay
MYOB - Mind Your Own Business
and there are many, many more!

Chris, here in Spain PP are the initials of the right-wing political party Partido Popular and, yes, they would fit the profile of painful pasters!:D :D

I'm with you Chris. Although I am married to a PWP, I find myself too depressed at times and that's when I plunge ahead and write stuff, hit that send button, and wonder "why the hell did I do that"? After I read what I wrote, I come out sounding like a whinning baby. I always enjoy your reading your posts, so keep up your attitude.
When I try to follow some of those long postings, I start to get a glaze over my eyes and can't continue. I want to know what they mean; however, I get too bored and overwhelmed. A few jokes wouldn't hurt and Steve is great with keeping it light no matter what difficulties he's been dealing with. This isn't to say this isn't serious business, just sometimes a breadth of fresh air is necessary and something to put a smile on our faces.
Sometimes out of curiosity, I will read messages that people write when they're looking to meet someone and I don't even know what kind of person they're looking for because they have abbreviated everything and I can't figure out what the abbreviations stand for. Good thing I'm not trying to date again, I would be Abbreviation Deprived Illiterate.

So that would be ADI then Maureen.

Chris, you have no idea how long it took me to figure out what lol means. I was sitting at my desk and when I had the epiphany, I said to myself, God, you are really stupid. I kept getting emails from people, but I wouldn't ask what lol meant, because sometimes the message wasn't all that funny.
When I had my first job at 18 for a large corporation in NYC, I had no knowledge of corporate abbreviations. I had a boss I hated and when I would go into his office to get papers from the outbasket, he would have F/U on everything. Being the genius I was, I thougt he was cursing me out and I would think what's his fff'n problem? It finally dawned on me he wanted to Follow Up!! I look back and think how could I have ever been so dumb. Now I share this embarrasing story with everyone.

This current world of Text messages, chat rooms, internet forums and corporate speak has all gone acronym/abbreviation crazy and I am sure there are times when we all think what is this person talking about.
There is no hope!
But at least this thread has been declared a PP free zone.

Love this zone, and no PP's need apply.

...that, henceforward, if I reach for the glue pot, I will start my subject with "PP" as notice. :)

Thanks for that one, IAH (I Am Hysterical). I can definitely see myself calling someone by the wrong name, never realizing it was an abbreviation for something else. And when you realize your mistake, you relive each and every time you made that mistake in your head, it replays and replays.
Looks like I just posted the same message twice. Not getting any smarter. Take care, M

As two of my closest friends are Yorkshiremen I'll take that as a compliment.

You children may run along and play, but be sure to maintain correct posture and take your meds on time! You know how I worry!

I thought LOL meant Lord oh Lord - it often fits.
I never never use it - can't seem to get over growing up in Denmark where l*** means sh***. Sincere apologies to all you English speaking types, it's a very unfortunate translation. But then Mad in Danish means food, Slut means finished and Gods means freight, so what can you expect?
And I get completely lost in acronyms - can't stand them.

You won't find much there I'm afraid. Perhaps the other end? Would LOL be more appropriate here? Thanks Pacem. I like your user name.

being latecomer I missed the boat on explaining common acronyms, but I thought you might like this one. Enjoying a pint in a pub I saw a wooden plaque hanging by the bar inscribed WYBMADIITY.
After fruitless puzzling I asked the barmaid, and she said "Would you buy me a drink if I told you". And I said maybe, but what does it mean? She just smiled. It was an offday for me obviously
