I don't know if this is the right term, blanket lifter...... Let me describe this a little better. When you are in bed, flat on your back, sometimes the blankets seem heavy on your lower legs/feet. It would be nice to have some kind of device that would lift the blankets slightly at the end of the bed, thereby taking the pressure/weight off of the legs/feet. Would anyone know of such an item, and if so where it could be purchased?
Thank you.

When my PN was at its worst....even a kleenex was too heavy for my feet. I thought I was going crazy....I had no idea what was going wrong and why a soft light weight blanket caused unbearable pain. I had never heard of Peripheral Neuropathy until I was diagnosed.
IT was too cold to simply stick my feet out so this is what I came up with.
I purchased cheap white plastic PVC pipes and connecters from Home Depot store....any home repair will carry these...and some will cut them for free!
I cut them into proper size and made a 16 inch high tent type support that kept the blankets and sheets off my feet and at the same time offered warmth by creating a "pocket" of warm air.
I think total cost is less than $2. The PVC piping is light weight, easy to cut with a sharp knife of saw. You can "fashion" the pipes into any size or shape that is needed to keep you comfortable.
Hope this helps.....the other product Wittesea posted looks great too. Probably easier to just order this for less than $20 and not have to hassel with making something like I suggested. But sometimes cost is a factor.
The B12 has been the biggest help in turning down the burning. I'm now able to withstand even heavy blankets on my feet....but the bottoms still feel like I've walked across hot coals....fire walking! Just not my cup of tea!

Crytearszzzz, thank you very much. I will keep this in mind. My husband could probably put something like this together better than I. Can't beat $2.00.
I hope you can get some relief for the bottoms of your feet. Hot coals are not good!

Also called a "foot cradle". Some people just make one out of a cut-up cardboard box.

How very clever of all of you.
Very good ideas. I know blankets; even lite ones and sheets, etc. can really be a problem. Thanks much for all the ideas.

You can also use a piece of plywood at the base, this willl lift the blankets off the feet and give the feet a flat place to push against, eliminating painful, ankles and feet.
You can expand this by using a box, but when I was a nursing student eons ago, we just used to make "foot boards" out of anything flat that could stick down between the mattress and the regular footboard and extend 12-18 inches above the mattress.

I just make my husband stand at the bottom of the bed all night and hold the blanket up. Just kidding! Thanks for the ideas, I've put off doing something to help at night for too long. I just need to get it done!
Best Wishes to All,
Nancy
