View Full Version : Women at War

What's happening to the women on here?

Lara, Thelma, Vicky, Steff, even one of the administrators - so much anger.

We are all critically ill with PD, the symptoms of which notoriously worsen with stress. You/we all search constantly for anything to ease our suffering (obscure herbs, oils, hoppy ear candles (lol), anything) so PLEASE stop fighting.

The recent exchanges have made the spats between Rick and Daffy look like a tea party!!

It's stressful just reading it (and before someone says it I know I don't have to read it and I know debate is healthy). But PLEASE stop.

We need Carolyn back urgently with her 10 new threads a day to drive these negative exchanges off the front page.

Someone please start a light, funny thread ......................

Chris

I noticed that the male contingent kept a very low profile the last few weeks. There was a different flavor when the Noble Duck took the field. Who would have thought that he would be missed? :D

G'day Chris,
I'm very sorry if any thing I had written came across in an angry way. It wasn't written in anger. I'm actually a very calm and placid person. I remember how I was feeling when I wrote my posts about the Comings/TS information and I was actually being quite "matter-of-fact". My apologies to you if it appeared otherwise.

Actually I think people can read words in all manner of ways. I know that I don't always read people correctly on the net. Words alone don't tend to always show how a person is feeling or why they write the way they do. Everyone is different I guess.

;) I'll just stick with the part I said... calm, placid and matter of fact. I'm passionate about some things for sure, but I'm certainly not voluptuous and my emotions are quite happy. Someone else can own those ones. lol

I am quite tall and I have long feet. Does that count? I have an excellent grip on Australia. :)

Lara

Surely you can't be Australian without being passionate about everything.
I thought that was the no.1 national charactoristic.

Ask the English cricket team !!! lol

You have a G'day Lara.

Rugby world cup.

It will get real ugly real quick, (it'll have to as we probably won't be in it that long !!).

Neil.

The Rugby world cup is only a month or two away and the All Blacks got dicked by the Aussies before 90,000 screaming fans at Melbourne Stadia Saturday. Things are gonna start getting real ugly in here pretty quickly if the ABs don't smash the Aussies in a fortnight in the return match on our home turf.:(

The women are/appear more passionate about issues. So what's wrong with a bit of a dog fight now and again. Gets the mind off the daily grind of sinemet, Tolcapone, and year 11 of the disease.:D

Looks like the anglosaxons and the antipodeans have taken over, oh well in for a penny in for a pound. Is this the "swearing thread"? Goodie
Don't expect an answer soon from any Kiwis, national mourning for the the double whammy of the Woefull Wallabies thump, then the Allinghi America's Cup drubbing.
Will be in France for the WC, am taking a spare set of Black kit (posted to me from a Kiwi client) in case we don't make it to the quarters, but could easily be persuaded to wear white with red, except without a "johnny", they may be languishing with the Green and Gold in the back benches. The Boks pose a decided threat, but I refuse to go there.
Let's see what the Nth Americans make of this? Might as well be written in swahelii I supect! Happy 4th USA it's to-day!
Love yers all! Am still very involved with PD, you cannt get rid of me that quickly! Big hug to old mate Lara.

How did we get from "Women at War" to The Rugby World Cup?!?

Anyway for those that enjoy our women at war the battle has opened a new front with Sheryl, Ann, Thelma, Vicky, Jean and Paula slogging it away on the Pro Science Agenda thread (watch from a safe distance).
And Cheri (Administrator) bravely trying to hold the line.

Oh and while we are on The World Cup I thought I might remind our Antipedean members that England are still the reigning World Champions.
Ok probably not for much longer, but currently we are.

Chris (a man who likes to put his head in the lions mouth lol).

"Men, are we better than women or wot - Discuss"

See, I always have the harmony of the board at heart :)

Chris,

If women were running the world, there would be no physical war - just verbal ones and not speaking to each other. No use anyone getting killed over anything.

 paula

Bella - how nice to hear from you; glad you haven't forgotten us and hope you are doing well. You're right, I need an interpreter to read your post. lol

of Australia Chris? I would love his salary. What do these individuals do anyway apart from attend cricket matches, and argue hoplessly on some irrelivant subjective political agenda law that inevitably demands yet another bogus government institute paid for by guess who.....you and me:(

And Bella has completely bamboozled our U.S. friends with her fantastic post. A bit like the Aussie backs who did a similar job on our All Black backline last weekend. That sidestep by Mortlock that bamboozled our young centre and McCaw which set up the winning try (touch down)....you coulda heard a pin drop across the length and breadth of Kiwi Land. Still, the Allblacks have had a fantastic run of wins over the last couple of years against all the top sides on the planet, and the AB's get to redeem themselves when they come up against the Boks and the Wallabies (who aren't so woefull anymore Bella) on our turf over the next three weeks.

And then the Biggie....The Rugby World Cup.....bring it on, the red and whites, le blues, the abs, the green and gold, the Bok, one of em will be the new champion, my monies on the ABs...I wonder why. Incidently does anybody know who the current champions are? They seem to have disappeared off the face of the planet without a win since 1993:D Da gloves are off lads trench warfare has begun.

In the meantime....

Many of us work hard as pd advocates - and we feel strongly about the issues that affect us. Frankly, if someone regularly posts in a manner that I find objectionable, I simply quit reading their posts. That's certainly the best way to deal with posts (and posters) that you don't like.

the tone of this thread is meant to be good natured and in admiration of the spirit and drive of the (predominantly) female contributors to some recent threads. I am in awe at the efforts of a number of PD advocates.

No offense is meant.

Best view this thread as the (predominantly) boys sat in a corner of the bar, gossiping about anything and everything.

Neil.

p.s. If this thread upset anyone remember Chris started it so its his fault not mine, he led me on :)

p.p.s Bella and Lara, sorry, I did say "predominantly" boys.

p.p.p.s Perhaps I'd better stop digging now.

Looks like the US may get a chance to test your theory with Hilary being the favourite to replace dear old George.

Howard

I do not mind them watching cricket and rugby it's when they start wars that it bothers me.

Aftermathman (Aftershaveman sounds better, lol)

Thanks for your support (not) but then there is only room for one mans head in this lions mouth!

I spent a week about 18 years ago fishing with my eldest son (who was then 16) around Evesham and Harvington. A lovely part of the UK, nearly as nice as Suffolk.

At least we can sit in the corner of our pub without choking to death on cigarette smoke now.
