Wow...watching helicopters rescuing people from the flood waters...that's a lot of water!
Dear Goofy, I'm really sorry you're having such awful pain. Gall Bladder pain can be horrible. I'm also sorry to read about the flooding there in your state. I hope you're all safe and sound there where you are. I've been wondering about all our friends in the path of the hurricane. Seems as if Texas has been totally inundated this year with bad weather. I hope the storm lessens in intensity before crossing the coast. Be prepared and keep safe.
 goofy, hope you're feeling better fast.

Me too. I'm sorry you're in pain. And yes, chronic pain really sucks. In fact, I was thinking about chronic pain last night and I'll be darned if I don't fit the bill. I often wonder why I don' hang around the chronic pain forum. It just sucks.
I think I have a circus of pain that just moves from spot to spot. There is never someplace on me that doesn't hurt. If it stops hurting in my feet, it moves to my back, then moves on to some place else.
Yes, gallbladder pain sucks! AND, it presents differently in women than in men. My final major presentation with gall bladder was my chest. I really thought, okay, I'm having a heart attack. So, spent the weekend in the hospital all hooked up. Then my doc said, let's do an ultrasound of her guts along with the heart tests. That's when they discovered that my gallbladder was 100% packed.
After reading up on gall bladder symptoms, I realized I'd had a few different symptoms over the 2 years before the removal. I never would have guessed they had anything to do with it.
Do be sure and let us know how your test goes!!!!
If you have gall stones, get those puppies outta there!!!! You'll feel better.
DARN... I'm so sorry to hear of all your troubles right now dear Goof
I watched the rescue on TV, too... I am amazed at how swift the current is! If i remember correctly, Goofy, your house is on higher ground?

We had some minor flooding in our neighborhood. our garage had water in it, but not bad. All of ricks wood working machines and wood is in the garage, so he's got like 3 fans blowing trying to dry it out. We're on high ground.
as far as the gall bladder stuff goes, i think i've been dealing with this for about 6 months, but the bad pain started last month. I'm glad they've decided to do an ultra sound. I got on the scales at work today, and i lost 4 pounds in one day...Thats how much i was throwing up last night... :( Whats so weird is i didn't start having problems until i went on that low fat diet LOL.... My first visit to the ER last month, i thought was because i was eating to much fiber to fast as last month when i started my diet.... I guess not LOL
ANYWAY i've lost 15 pounds so far :) i'm not counting the 4 i lost yesterday because i know most of that will come back when i start eating again... which may be a LOOOONNGGGG time!!!! actually i did get down a baked potato today without feeling nauseous... ok.... i'll hush....

and thanks for the well wishes...

I saw some round thingies on the screen and asked the tech if that was what was causing me such pain and he said he didn't know. I told him yes he did and he just smiled.... ANYWAY i guess i'll find out on Wednesday.

Gall bladders are such TINY things and cause such BIG problems.
Please keep us updated on all that is happening and know that we'll keep you updated in our prayers. :grouphug:

Dear Goofy~
I'm so sorry you have been suffering so much with this pain! I have chronic pain, and can sympathize with you somewhat. Although, I still have my gall bladder, and haven't had to experience what you are going through. I hope this can be remedied quickly, and without anymore complications! My prayers and thoughts are with you!! :heartthrob:

I'll take good care of you if you come here.......
So sorry you are going through this...the GOOD news is....the surgery is immensely easier now than 20 years ago.
I hope you get this out of the way and recover quickly!

I'm glad you're having this done dear friend! When they removed mine 2 years ago they said it was 100% packed.
The surgery is relatively simple now, but I hope you have good support for your recovery. You'll need someone to just help you get up and down. You'll be quite sore, and I'd plan on easy not working for 2 weeks...please! I went back after one and ended up having to stay home again, so you make sure someone is going to help you!!!!!!!!
Bless you heart.

2 weeks!!!!!!!!
LOL ok.... maybe i've got an unrealistic expectation.
MY PLAN was to have it done on a Wednesday as i'm off on Weds and Fris.
That way i'd be off Wed miss Thur, off Fri, have Sat and Sun then go back to work on Mon.... LOL.... i guess we'll see what happens.... ANYWAY i've got my appt with my gastro dr on Wed to find out when she's going to do it.

At least a week of rest! (shakes finger at goofy) *grin
Have to tell you that Danny Boy was awesome...thank Scott for me!
Surgery Wednesday, back at work the next Monday? hmnnn I wouldn't set that plan in concrete. lol
Depends a lot on what type of surgery you're having too. Laparoscopic surgery leaves you with much less recovery time, but not all surgery can be done that way. Depends. I'd be planning a couple of weeks off too. Gall Bladder surgery is not a picnic although some people obviously recover much faster from any surgery than others. You'll feel so much better once you get rid of that thing. What I would be planning is organizing certain things that you know you're the only one who usually does them. If you're the only one who cooks, then get cracking and freeze up some meals. Make sure everyone else in the family knows before you go into hospital for the surgery that you are not a martyr and that you will feel pain and that you are not invincible despite them thinking you are and you are going to find their help essential in the weeks post-surgery. ;)

ok... after talking with those who have had it done i guess i'll shoot for a whole week. only one person i talked to said he had it done on a Friday and went back to work on a Monday, BUT he was a dr. I've heard DRs are bad patients LOL...
Thanks for the suggestions too Lara, The day of my surgery, i've got a good friend who has already volunteered to bring the evening meal over for Rick and the kids. I'm big on cooking stuff up ahead of time so that way all Rick has to do is get it out of the freezer and pop it into the oven... oh, and crock pot meals.... so easy.... even RICK can do it.. LOL
