Hi,
I have a cold, took over the counter drugs, nasal spray, yesterday. Had sz last night. Do you think it may be related?
Thanks

It could very well have been just a sign your body was 'tired' from the cold itself. However, I always check the boxes of cold medicines before using them as some will say not to use them if you are taking any AED's and other various types of medication.
You should check with your doctor and see though, seizures happen due to many reasons, sometimes without reason at all. For now, I'd check with your doctor and get a prescription for your cold that they are sure you're able to take if you're on any seizure medication or prone to seizures.
Hope you're feeling well soon!

This is why it's always a good idea to ask the pharmacist what to take. It's their job to know.
I hope you feel better!

Hi,
My epileptologist told me to stay away from any over the counter cold meds that had an antahistamine in it because it slows up the seizure meds you take going through the bloodstream which can trigger a seizure. It's also been proven that some people who have epilepsy will have seizures when they are sick with a virus or cold because it can throw the body chemistry off which can sometimes cause seizures. I've found just drinking a lot of hot fluids like tea and taking vitamins with minerals have helped reduce he getting a cold or virus of any kind. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Speaking of this topic, kind of. The other night I was feeling like I had a cold coming on, so I decided to take a Benadryl. I was rather paranoid to take it since 15 minutes prior I took 1,000 mg's of Keppra and didn't want it to devour my stomach lining.
Long story short, I don't think I have slept that well in years! Not sure that is good or not, but I was out like a light for a good 8 hours straight. :o
