When I click on my link for this community, here's what my screen says:
Brain Talk Community
The Brain Talk Community is Temporarily Back!
Check it out at the BrainTalk2 forums.
Now that the Braintalk community actually is back and running, this ought to be changed. Thank you so much for providing a temporary haven. I appreciated it so much and expect to still come here to participate, although I hope it will be clear that it is *not* a replica of Braintalk. :-)

I think bluesky is just pointing out it is an obsolete message now that OBT is back up.

I found "Brain Talk 2" through google. Because of that message I thought it was BrainTalk. It was only when I tried posting and couldn't log in that I learned it wasn't actually BrainTalk. The wording is confusing.

I would like to thank the people responsible for this site. you have done a service that is worthy of praise by all.
From what I have seen of bt and bt2 I already know that this system is far more open and that is something that will promote the free exchange of ideas.
I hope that now that bt is back bt2 will remain as a viable alternative for those of us who have been given the impression that we are no longer welcome there. This attitude wasn't only with the users and posters but with the mods at bt. It has been sad to see what bt has become in the past year. I stil recall that bt was a place (at one time) where opinions could be expressed and people would ask question before making broad generalizations that were based on nothing more than garbage and rumors spread by other users.
With the sincere hope that this site will never become that. I think that can happen because there is a great deal more transparency here and it is truly refreshing
Thank you all for all you have done and are doing for all of us out here who care so much about the free exchange of information and ideas. May it last for many years to come and may many be helped in the process.
Regards

A forum like this needs good leadership, and I think that Doc John and KD are here to provide that. It takes an investment of time and energy, and of course the personal qualitites needed to be a good leader. So, I join in the thanks to Doc John and KD :).
In the absence of good leadership, things can get a little like a school classroom when the teacher leaves the room, despite the assignment of student room monitors ;) .

Thank you. :)
Doc John has done some amazing things by having a goal/dream/inspiration a few times in his life. I've known him (or of his work by being a member of online communities he either created or helped to create and maintain) for about six years now. Early on, I would ask myself "Who would want to help to such a huge degree...because?" Over and over and over again in these years that question has been answered with, "John Grohol, that's who." He's been more than consistent in his care, concern and help...unwavering. For the last year and a half I've been volunteering in an attempt help him achieve only a part of his visions and goals for others. I can only say, in all honesty, that he's remained unchanged in his care, consistency, dedication and concern. He's never surprised me...never been unavailable or uncaring...never been far away in a sense of separateness. He has my respect and then some. I just wanted to say that.
I wanted to help in any way that I could to bring people in need (even to the smallest degree) together with like people for sharing, caring, helping each other. I wanted to help because when I was going through some of the most difficult times in my life I found relation, caring, information and concern when I needed it the most by participating in an online community created by John Grohol. There were people who could understand. I found I wasn't alone and haven't felt that way since. There were people who wanted to care about me and share with me. Those people would not have been there, though, had they not been given a "place" in which to do all of those things. I knew I wanted to help, but that it was also my calling to do so; to use the skills and life experiences that I've acquired in this life to help/care/share even in a small way.
When I was given the opportunity to help here, I didn't hesitate. It wasn't only to help, though; it was also to participate. Once again, I've found a caring, sharing and help that I hadn't previously known. Once again, in an area of my life where I felt isolation and alone, I see and feel that I'm not. See, I've lived with Trigeminal Neuraligia for 22 years now. I'd never, ever spoken to another person who lived with this diagnosis. I never knew that people could understand or even better, share and once again help me. Once again, because John Grohol gave a place, I found understanding, caring and sharing.
I'm thankful to Dr. John Grohol on many levels, and for many things.
I can't say how much the moderators have helped this community to run smoothly. They're caring individuals to also want to help...because. They bring their knowledge, experience and understanding and lay it on the table to help in any way that they can.
The members not hesitating to speak about their needs here for comfort, or dislikes and concerns, is key as well. I have already found so much valuable information and ideas that apply to my life. That couldn't happen without participation, giving, caring and a desire to help...because.
I really like my chair. :) It's so good to see all of this come together in a workable, helpful way with all doing what they can as they can, determined to build and maintain this community.
I'm so excited to be here and honored as I get to know more of you. As this continues I see what an extraordinary and exceptional community we're becoming. We're all volunteering ourselves in some way to both give and gain; to share and care...because.
I know this may sound korny or simple. Most of all I hope it sounds honest, respectful and appreciative. :)

I hope that this site remains viable and helpful to all who care to use it. I would hope that the people dealing with it on a regular basis will know when they may need a break from the operation of the site and have the ability and thoughtfulness to hand their mod position over to another for a break so that things won't become bitter and spiteful and out of control as has been the case in others sites like this one.
You provide a very valuable service to us all and I am greaful that you are here and will allow the public the opportunity to find and provide answers. some sites suffer from lack of leadership and the entire site suffers as a result and the people taking part in the site lose confidence in the people in the site and the site itself. I hope this never happens here becausethe service being provided is amazing
Thank you all for making this site possible and I hope that I will get to know you all better as time goes on.
We can all learn from what others have to offer and I hope that I will make a small contribution to the other areas of this site as the days, weeks and years go on.
I know I have made an impact in the lives of others because of my experiences and it is nice to see a place where those experiences can be put to good use and be of help to others

KD truly is the best... I doubt I would've continued with this site if she hadn't stepped up to the plate to help run things over here, because, truly, the most "expensive" part of running a community is simply having an administrative/moderation team that understands its role and is compassionate, caring and thoughtful in their work helping out.
:)
