I suggest we do two things:
1) Swap email addresses with people in your chosen forums now! Before it happens.
2) Agree now that in case of emergency the survivors will gather at Yahoo. First one there starts a Group starting with the letters "BT" and then your particular forum title. A couple of dozen Parkies found each other that way.

The temporary chat forums (see my signature) will be available until BT gets up and running again and probably a little while after that.

Quite a few folks have stopped by already :)

Thanks so much for setting up these temporary forums and for the update on John Lester. Many of us have been lost without the forums. Those of us from the LKS (Landau Kleffner Syndrome) forum are still lost. If you can find a way to make a new forum for us, we would be grateful. Also, is there a way that the new forums could be listed for people who use a search engine (such as Google) for BrainTalk? It might help people find the new forums more easily.

JL has just posted an update at the old forum address stating that the new equipment will be in around September 5th. He states that "chat" is once again up and running.

Gasp! And me with inadequate computer skills or memory to "gather at Yahoo." Wouldn't know how to begin; wouldn't understand/recall if you told me! God Bless You for this information, however! I recently stumbled upon Neurotalk. Since then it has been my primary social support system. Yes, other support systems are accessible to me. However, I find the supreme intelligence and humor of Neuro participants, many of whom have good reasons to be neither bright nor funny, to be far superior to either agency support systems or "normal" friends at a social gathering. And Community leaders and others offer such invaluable information. Thank You, NeuroTalk, and may you . . . please . . . live forever. :grouphug:

Just letting you know Billie that this is a very old thread from way back in 2006, and was posted when NeuroTalk was in it's infancy, after BT went down for an extended period of time.

Many of the members who contributed to this thread don't post here any more, so with that in mind and it's age, this thread is fairly irrelevant now.

And let me just reassure folks that since I've been doing online community on websites since 1996, I have never lost a forum to a database crash or any other computer problems. We backup regularly here, we monitor our systems 24/7, and we take our responsibility to you very seriously.

NeuroTalk and the Psych Central Communities are not going away. We've run the PC main community without interruption or crash since 2001. That's eight continuous years, including a major switch to its current software (again, without losing any messages).

Thanks so much Doc John for keeping NT here for us, and for keeping PC up for those members too. I have thought about joining PC but I haven't had much time to spare, it's su mmer after all with the lil man home it's difficult to find time. But I LOVE NT and will post here for as long as you've got it up for us to post on! Thank you for taking it so seriously here and on PC, I as a member of NT truly appreciate your efforts. We need safe places to discuss things and to support our online friends as well as get that all so important support from them when we need it. :)
