I get the vampire thingy done tomorrow....it sure is beautiful here in Portland today! We could see the Cascade range from Mt Bachelor all the way north to Mt Rainier! It was gorgeous!

I had received "Blue" tickets to attend the campaign speech of Bill Clinton. Several tickets in fact, enough to take Boy Scouts with me. So fine, found a few that needed this badly for a merit badge and off early in the morning we go.

The best part was being patted down by the Secret Service man!:D
Good times, good times. (another story)

Anyhoo! The "Blue" tickets was for an area right smack dab in front of the stage. Since we had arrived so early, we stood right in the very front. At least I could see. Hey, over 16,000 people showed up!

We got our picture in the paper. But we also had to shake hands with Bill, Al, Hillary, and Tipper. Oh and listen to them babble on about something.

Oh, the head thing....I will admit it. I am short. So I am standing there, in the front, shaking hands, and Bill Clinton reaches over my head to shake hands behind me and I get this sweaty armpit on the top of my head.

I am like...gross me out!:eek:

Then of course there came the time I could not scrub my hand hard enough to make it clean and I am sure I ruined a few Boy Scouts by dragging them there and.......

Thanks for asking. This has been had on him. He is back on his property and lives in his work garage. It is heated and has a bathroom. His choice. We fixed up a sun room (enclosed patio) for his eating area. I had a mini fridge and microwave for him to use. He likes it too much! I don't know if he will ever go back in the house even when we get carpet in it.

That's sad Taffy. Maybe once you get it fixed up and his stuff moved back in, he will. Men can be stubborn. It could be b/c it's a small space and not too much trouble to take care of.

I don't know Daisy! I am starting to think that the throwing of things away and hosing and riping stuff out was the easy part. Now we wait and tinker on things, waiting for the walls to dry out. Then the insulation can go back, drywall back on, texturing, painting, flooring, and deciding what can go back into the house. It is like having to rebuild the house all over again!

I guess we tend to think that new carpet is all is should take to make all well. He's been through alot. Things dry and can be repaired, but Dad may take a lot longer to feel his normalcy again.

Maybe he associates the garage w/being safe and that he can't lose anymore if he stays there. Just a thought.

We whine about the snow, but there's always someone else going through a traumatic event. A town about 30 miles from us just lost a block of it's downtown to fire. It's a frozen mess over there and they had 18 different fire dept's responding. THe firemen's coats were frozen on them. The pictures on the news were just horrifying.

Sorry to hear about your Dad's house. Sounds awful. I missed the original story, but I am assuming this was from the Washington flood. Floods are so destructive. Yeah, that is a total understatement, but I'm not terribly eloquent these days.

Note the change in mood. Still sad about what happened with MSW, but happy to have found a new place. Now, I'm just back to tired (my normal state of being)!!

Oh, and I haven't had my pic taken in a ladies room in years now!

My heart goes out to your father. Losing his wife is like part of him died also. Then losing his home is like dying again. All the memories that probably was helping him move on after the passing of his wife are gone too.
This has got to be so hard on him. I can only understand part of it the lossing of a loved one. Mine passed 4/06. If I lost this house I don't know what I would do.

Taffy all I can say is stand by and support and show a lot of love.
I don't think there is really any words that can be said than those words.
