My dentist says I have a crossbite and need to have braces to correct it. The dentist also said I should have had braces years ago. But $$ wasn't available back then to get them.

I was referred to a Orthodontist that "takes" Medicaid. But that is not a definite. Apparently Medicaid will pay for the braces if they are
needed health wise. I do have some jaw pain now, and TMJ is also a possibility in the future. So I think I shouldn't have a problem getting them.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? If so please tell me what you needed to do to get the help you needed.

Note:

I'm mainly interested if you fit the following conditions:

1. Your in New York State
2. Medicaid is your insurance
3. You are over 21+
4. You needed (& got) braces (list the type of braces you had)

Thx. :)

Anyone, anyone?

Well I'll change this up a bit.

1. Your in the U.S.
2. Medicaid is your insurance
3. You are over 21+
4. You needed (& got) braces (list the type of braces you had)

No experience with this.... I know my dental insurance has strict guidlines on orthodontic work--- they cover braces for those under 21 (or 18 not sure) and they only cover half of the cost of them....

Perhaps you could get your doctor --in addition to your dentist, on the medical necessity of you needing them....

Good Luck !

:) Thx, for the reply. But unfortunately I learned yesterday that the limit is 19.
 But I'll try making a big stink with all my doctors & dentist. That might help give me the leverage I need to get the braces. :winky:
