Hi Curious, thought I'd drop in and say hiyaa!!

Hope you get the yard sorted; wow, halloween already, seems like the summer just shot past. It's the end of a long day here in Hong Kong, temperatures have dropped to 27C - very pleasant, I've just tucked the beagle baby up and am now headed off to bed myself...yaaaawn...saw your name and just wanted to come by say hi...zzzzz
all the best :) :)

howdy howdy artist!!! i'm always peeking in at y'all on rsd. gotta say it again...what an awesome group!!:D

so...hoot hoot...where are my sleepless buddies?

my foot is all a funny purple color. mmm...cute huh? :D i think i'll paint my toe nails day glo orange.

lil'monkey is invited to 2 birthday parties this weekend. and 1 so far for next weekend. it's not like when i was young...now gifts are $25 or more. guess she is gonna be my little go-fer for awhile.

ok...somebody come yap with me!!

So I am up and awake yet again.

For some reason, my kids became noctournal again.

Please tell me parenting gets easier? Atleast tell me that I will be able to sleep again some time soon. PLEASE!

Curious
10-13-2006, 11:19 AM
if i tell you NO...maybe you will pass out. :p

easier...hmm...different maybe. all the ages and stages come with it's perks and pitfalls. my monkeys are from 26 down to grandmonkey being 5. lil'monkey is 12. i get thrown the parenting curveball all the time.

turn those noctounal clocks around as soon as you can. tucker them out!! wake them up early.

i have early riser monkeys. ( well..not bubbamonkey...if he has a day off school, work and sports...he will sleep the day away, which is fine ) it seems like no matter how late they are up...rise and shine beofre the sun and the birds. always between 5:30am nd 6am.

how are thoe cute kiddos doing? feeling better? and you?

Idealist
10-13-2006, 08:38 PM
So the monkeys got a new patch of jungle, huh? That's okay, as long as we still get to swing around freely through the trees...:D

Kamie - How are those kids of yours doing? How are YOU doing? I hope you start getting some better sleep. Tonight I'll wave my magic wand and make the sweet little darlin's all sleep soundly for ya. How's that?

Curious - I hope your foot's doin' better. You try to stay off of it for a while now, ya hear? (Yeah...fat chance!) Are ya sleepin' any lately? For me it just seems worse and worse. Today I laid down at 12:30 pm and got back up at five-something. Oh well, guess I shouldn't complain. There could be worse things bothering me...

Oh, and Artist, glad to have ya drop by...:) . Always a pleasure!

Ya'll write back and let me know how you're doing, okay?

All the best...
Idealist

Curious
10-13-2006, 09:13 PM
woohoo...i know a night owl that ain't gonna fall asleep anytime soon!

hoot hoot

hehehe..you could have fallen asleep at 3pm...and missed me. :D

Idealist
10-13-2006, 10:11 PM
Wouldn't want that to happen! You're such an "interesting" bird, bless your heart...:D

So did she find any cool new ghosts? I thought you were supposed to stay away from that 'bright light', but all she does is constantly points out the way! I like the show, though. And that girl has got the prettiest smile!

So how are ya gettin' along on three legs? Or have you put the crutches back into the closet yet? I think day-glo orange might be a bit much with purple, though. Maybe something a little more subdued, like yellow stripes or something.

Curious
10-14-2006, 12:44 AM
i'm gonna do the limp thing tomorrow. i can't hack these crutches. put tennis shoes on nice and tight. i think i rested my foot pretty good today. well...pretty good for me anyhow..;)

on ghost whisperer...she did have an interesting time. the ghost was autistic. she couldn't figure out why the ghost wouldn't talk to her or look at her. there ended up being understanding and compassion. pretty cool. another show for you to watch during re-run season. :D

so whatcha going to do this weekend? how are you feeling? have you eaten much?

pssss....i think i'm going to do polka dot toes. :p

Idealist
10-14-2006, 01:19 PM
So how's it going today? Feeling hoppy...;) ? Been playin' any games of basketball this morning? I know...let's have a role-playing game! I'll be Butch Cassidy and you can be the Can'tdance Kid...:D .

Seriously though, how's the ol' foot doin today? I know you aren't going to give it any rest, so I'm not gonna waste my breath telling you that you should. You need to get you a robot-helper. 'Course then you'd have to deal with that whole "we robots are superior to you humans and shall take over the world for your own protection" thing. Or then again, maybe it'd just make ya sit down...;) .

Anyway, I hope you're doin' good, my friend. I know you're a busy woman and an important moderator here now, but don't forget about us 'common folk'.

Take care,
Idealist

Curious
10-14-2006, 01:34 PM
:::hops off her thrown::: :p

actuallyyyyyy...the ole foot does feel a bit better. there is a small break. i should have checked voice mail. radioligist called back. he said it is called a meniers break. i'm sure i'm not spelling it correctly. :p it is the same break bubbamonkey had. typically a sports injury. sooooooo...he said 6 weeks in a boot and stay off it!

i think i'll erase the message so nobody here knows about it!! :o :(

Idealist
10-14-2006, 02:55 PM
Ha! Ha!...Don't you dare! :p

See? I actually know what I'm talking about sometimes! Ya gotta take care of those footsies, gal...they're what take you places, remember?

I worry about you sometimes. 'Cause you're too quick to volunteer yourself for everything, too hard-headed to take care of yourself properly, and even when you need someone's help you deny it. That ain't smart, my dear...

You listen to your doctor, even if you won't ever listen to me...;) Be smart.

Idealist
10-14-2006, 10:20 PM
Are owls social animals? Do they like to chat? Or are they just nocturnal loners...

Someimes I feel like a nocturnal loner, so maybe that's it!

Kamie

All night-owls celebrate! Today's my little girl's tenth birthday. I don't know whether to be happy for her or cry for me...:o

My last single-digit baby...gone forever. I offered to pay her ten dollars if she'd stay nine for another year, but no dice...

Alffe

Hi Idealist ............ How was your daughter's birthday?

Curious
10-18-2006, 11:13 AM
dearrrrrrr jessi....

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j147/ChynaBirdd/happybirthday.jpg

to you...lalalalaaaa

hope you had a fantastic fabulous day! did your dad make you special mac and cheese? a cake? spoil you rotten like ALL girls should be?:D

pssss...sorry this is late sweety. i didn't get back online last night. so you get to celebrate for 2 days!!!

Idealist
10-18-2006, 11:31 PM
Thank you, Curious. That was very nice of you. I'll let Jessi look at it tomorrow, and she'll be thrilled. Things like that really do mean a lot to her. She's such an unusual little girl. If you make her a home-made birthday card and put a hundred dollars in it, she'd more pleased by the card than the money, and that's the honest truth. :)

So how you been? Haven't seen ya around too much lately.

Idealist
10-18-2006, 11:39 PM
And Alffe & Chemar, I want to thank both of you for wishing my baby a happy birthday! She was tickled by you both. Alffe, she agreed with you about having a good daddy...boy have I got her fooled...:D

Scrabble - she had a very nice birthday. She had breaded shrimp and mac-n-cheese for dinner, which are two of her favorite foods and what she asked for. She had a home-made chocolate cake with white icing. She got a magician's kit she's been wanting, and enough money from everyone to make King-Tut blush! I offered her anything she wanted if she'd just stay nine for another year, but she said "I'm sorry Daddy, but I can't. But don't worry, I'll always be your little girl and we'll always do special things together!" I don't guess I have to tell ya how that made me feel!

You and I never seem to connect here on the nite-owls forum. Wonder why that is...

Curious
10-19-2006, 12:28 AM
argh...i got bumped off before my last reply posted. stupid aol.

anyways.....

grandmonkey thinks your jessi is THE jessi from toy story 2. lol. so he asked me to post his picture to her. he picked one of him and his Woody. lol
(oh...grandmonkey does not have red hair...just a wonky picture or a wonkey me who who took it. )

Gosh, Curious...that sure is a cute grandmonkey you got there! You're going to have to chase the girls away with a big ol' stick...:D

Curious
10-19-2006, 12:41 AM
he is a doll. takes after his meme. :D

so what are up to tonight? spamming the forums? am i gonna have to follow you around?

i'm having some hot chocolate. you want some?

Idealist
10-19-2006, 12:47 AM
Naaahh...I'm right here. It's just that I never know where the heck YOU'RE gonna be anymore. I'd love that cup of chocolate, by the way...:D

I've been totally out of it the past couple of weeks...something strange that I couldn't understand. I think that whole surgery thing might have kinda pushed me over the edge for a while. But yesterday and today I've finally started feeling normal again. Had me scared, though, I don't mind tellin' ya.

So what do you do all the time that makes you such a stranger anymore? I've missed my buddy...:)

~scrabble
10-19-2006, 12:54 AM
Got any more hot chocolate, Curious??

I got mini marshmallows and I'll share 'em!

grandmonkey is one handsome little dude! Love those blue eyes! Looks like he sure likes Woody.

Idealist, I'm glad your daughter had a good birthday celebration and her reply to you was perfect!

Idealist
10-19-2006, 01:00 AM
Well, hey, Scrabble! Imaging running into you this late at night...

Thanks about my daughter. I know that since I'm her daddy people just tend to smile when I go on and on about how special she is...but it's just the plain darn truth!!! I have another daughter who is fourteen, and special in her own way, but the little one? She's gonna break my heart a million times without even meaning to!

Curious
10-19-2006, 01:04 AM
is it ok if it's hot chocolate malted ovlatine? hmmm...rich and chocolaty and good for ya! i made you both a big ole mugs!

thank you scrabble. he does have blue blue eyes.

it seems like everytime i log on something comes up. or i remember something i was suposed to do. :o i've been trying to send out emails to family our of state. i feel bad that i haven't been keeping in touch real well. i wish i was that mass family letter at christmas type person ( monkey) but i hate getting those...so i guess i shouldn't send one. lol

i'm glad the funk is lifting idealist. i think dr's should really warn people about that after surgery.

lots of life descions going on around here. fun stuff ya know?

toss me some of those marshmallows scrabble. :p

~scrabble
10-19-2006, 01:10 AM
--------->*tossing marshmallows .......

Yum! I like malted chocolate Ovaltine!

My kids brought home their school photos today and there is such a change in my 14 year-old daughter from last fall's photo! (Long blonde hair - which she had me straighten for photo day - and dark blue eyes ... neither of which she got from me.) My 16 year-old son is looking much like he did last year - which is tall and handsome! He has brown hair and brown eyes but both kids have the same smile and you can tell they are siblings.

~scrabble
10-19-2006, 01:13 AM
Well I'm getting booted off by my son .........

He was at a soccer practice tonight in the rain, on the gravel field ... and he came home very wet and cold. So now that he's had a warm shower he figures its his turn on here ...

10 pm here ....... we should really all get to bed ... but, I'm gonna have a bath first.

Idealist
10-19-2006, 01:14 AM
Hot chocolate that's good for you? You wouldn't try pullin' the wool down over my eyes, now would ya? Sounds too good to be true!

I think the surgery think flipped me overboard mostly on a psychological level. The procedure itself wasn't so bad at all. It's just impossible to overstate how much hope I had built up, and all the while trying to convince myself that I wasn't going to have false hope. That it didn't mean a thing.

Idealist
10-19-2006, 01:17 AM

Curious

my monkeys don't really favor each other, but if i get told all the time that they look like me. sistermonkey and lil'monkey are both olive complected and have brown hair. bubbamonkey has light brown hair that blondes in the sun and my green eyes.grandmonkeys mother has his blue eyes and has been coloring her light brown hair red since since she was 12...me thinks it is problably still red, but i don't know. :o

my bubba is soccer dude too. have sweet dreams scrabble.

i'm an hour earlier than you idealist. can you hang with this owl? hoot hoot.

and yeppers...ovaltine...chuck full of vitamins and minerals. mighty tastey too.

Idealist
10-19-2006, 01:40 AM
Owls don't hang, do they? I thought that was bat... But they're night-birds too, though being called and owl somehow sounds a lot better than a bat, don't you think?

I wish I could go to sleep. But chances are I'll be up for quite some time. Sometimes I think I should take up drinking so I can just start up at, say, nine o'clock and pass out by midnight...:D I've tried taking meds, but all they do is make me feel funny. I've always been wary of pills, and after four years of being every doctor's lab-monkey, all I've learned is to distrust them even more. And yet still I have to take them...sigh...

Curious
10-19-2006, 01:46 AM
i can't hack the sleep meds. that druggy medicine head feeling desn't go away the next day. i have thought of trying meletonin. for me it is a combo of things. i can't stay in the same position for mor than a few hours. i wake up in pain. another..well..loneliness. but what is absolutley weird..is this is the only time i have to myself. maybe it's just adult company? hehehe...guess you qualify huh idealist?

so are we roosting? hoot hoot

cheers...nah...don't do the booze thing. skinny ole you will end up with a belly and look like an olive on a tooth pick. :p

Idealist
10-19-2006, 01:55 AM
Well, my choccy never got here, so I had to go fix me a cup of raspberry tea. UPS must be moving slow tonight.

Yeah, I hate being up at night because it's so lonely. But there's a kinda magical quality about it, too. I was always a night person, but before this that meant staying up 'til midnight. And besides, the daytime can be even lonelier for someone like me, with everyone out living life while I sit at home and sigh a lot...:o

I'm gonna beat this thing, though. Since the begininning of the year I have worked harder at that than I've ever worked at anything in my life, and I've had results...but they're just so danged slow!

The reason I like you so much is you always seem to take it all in stride, and manage to turn it into humor of some kind. I'm trying to learn from ya...;)

Curious
10-19-2006, 01:57 AM
well..ya know it could be worse...we could be married to us. LMAO:p

Curious
10-19-2006, 02:06 AM
sorry...couldn't help that one.:o :p :D

you just have to surround yourself with the good stuff. keep the negative in put to as little as possible. if it can't get in..then well..it can't fill you up.

make a point of thinking something good. no matter what the deal is.

lil'monkey had come home from school last week and was real upset about her math teacher. her fave teacher. she said she was soooo mean to the class. so lil'monkey and emailed her. asked her if something was wrong cuz she didn't seem like herself...and lil'monkey was upset that the kids were saying some not so nice stuff about the teacher.

well...the teacher had found out that her husband got transfered and that friday was her last day. :( she was so thankful that we emailed and showed her that somebody cared.

baby steps are good. take it slow. it's a learning process. just take it one day at a time to see what your pain level is going to be with what you are doing. i;m very proud of you!! i know you won't let this beat you!!

I feel sorry for my wife, having to put up with a problem like me. But at the same time, she could be more comassionate. That's one of the things that made my surgery so hurtful. By the treatment I got at home, you'd have thought I just went and got a manicure. I'm supposed to go back for post-op next week, but I can't drive right now and my wife doesn't want to waste her day off taking me, so I guess I'll have to cancel. I'm sorry, I don't mean to complain, but...grrrrr:mad:

actuuuuallyyyyy me thinks my hubby is going through a mid life crisis. the weirdo...he has gotten all mushy and thinks i'm wonderful. he must have a long christmas list or something. or with my luck he spent a fortune buying himself something and is buttering me up.

all kids have their places in our hearts. but some kids shine to others.

we have a member that is turning 103. she absolutly loves lil'monkey. she says that she is truely one of god's angels. lil'monkey will talk and talk with her. it's pretty cool. not many 12 year olds will do that.

I know...think of something happy, right? Gee, you're smart! You and Alffe are a lot alike. :)

:D it's the stinkin' thinkin'.

it can be a hard habit to break. i am sooo working on my mother. omgoodness....all i kept hearing was how it was going to be scary living in an apartment...all the apartment fires. they will have to buy one of those steering wheel locks....buy mace...
 i live in a nice quiet town.

we drove by a house that the yard needed mowing. oh my..what lazy people...my mom says..such a shame they won't take care of their yard. i'm like...mom...who knows why they haven't mowed. maybe they are hurting for money...or there is an illness in the famliy. bubba is going to see if he can help and mow it for them. for free. no biggy. 30 minutes of his time tops.

then when i was driving her home....on the highway a red car zooms past and was darting in traffic. just by chance there were 3 other red cars. mom: oh...those red cars are going to race and kill somebody!

oi vey...

the butt
:p

that is my favorite piece....hehe...from a fresh loaf....hot with lots of melted butter.

ok...so i cheat and buy the frozen dough sometimes. homemade just takes too much time. hehe...then you can split up the dough and make lots of little loaves with lots of little butts. :D :p

Ahhh...you're mom is lucky to have a daughter like you. You do so much for her! If she's like a lot of parents, she probably never says thank-you, but you know it's gotta be hard to be in a position where you NEED your child's help. I hope my girls grow up like you...:D

Now my SON, on the other hand, I ain't gonna hold my breath waiting for his help! Really, he's a great kid. But he's so wrapped up in his own head that nothing else exists for him. Just the other day he was complaining 'cause he doesn't have his own car, and I told him "well, think how I feel? I don't have one either." And he said, "Yeah, but dad you're life is OVER, but my is just beginning!"

'Course then he goes and surprises me because when I got home from the hospital after surgery, he sat there and watched me like a hawk for hours just to make sure I didn't do anything to hurt myself...:p

mom is pretty good about the thank you. we have a pretty tight bond after i saved her life last summer. but there are times that i don;t think she eally understand the time factor. it takes me 1 1/2 hours to get to their house. i have stuff to do every day. it really cuts down on my bon bon eating. :p

I have a half-sister who lived in Texas for most of her life, but I've never met her. Isn't that terrible? I never even found out about her until I was twenty-five. I've talked to her on the phone some, but really we're just strangers. I think she lives in OK now.

I passed through Texas on my way to Oklahoma for basic training, but heck, I was only there for thirty minutes. But the Cowboys are my favorite football team! Not that I'm a huge football fan these days, but still...

Virginia is a beautiful state. I was born in W.VA. and raised there until I was twelve, but I'd never go back. It was beautiful too, but this is my home now.

lil'monkey has half sister and half brother she has never met. basically that whole side of the family. i hope she meets them someday. so far she says she isn't ready.

since that amazon girl has basketball tryouts early early i had better try and get a few winks. she isn't too athletic, but her height is an assett. she reached up tonight and touched the ceiling in the hallway!

Today I had a day off from work so I had fun ... :)

I went to the hair stylist for a few high-lights and a trim. My stylist convinced me to purchase some new Pumpkin Rehydrating Shampoo by Sexy Hair.

Then I found a great sale on swimsuits (70% off) so I tried on a bazillion ... and bought 2.

In the afternoon I saw my chiropractor for a craniosacral treatment ... where I was so relaxed that I dozed off for a bit ....

Bought some sushi on my way home and now I'm knitting while watching Men in Trees. (ok, so I'm not knitting while typing ....)

I have thick, wavy hair and even with a lot of thinning it out I still have lots of thick, wavy hair. I'll let you know what my daughter and I think of the shampoo.

Swimsuits are the worst to shop for! No way can I just pick one off the rack and buy it. The ones that look good on a hanger don't work for me and then the unusual looking suits end up being ok. I shopped for a suit while in Thailand and I felt like a blimp because their suits fit so small! I ended up having to buy XL and I was so disappointed!

The leopard print suit from today looked very blah on me ...

actually it didn't take much for me to be snack happy. it's about 1am here and we had dinner at 5pm. earlier than i am used to.

my dad was stationed in thailand. i still have a bush hat that he brought home for me..and a silk outfit. i even have a picture of me wearing it. lol.

I know you would, Scrabble. I can tell by the way ya say it.

Well, the sleep thing didn't work for me tonight. The sun's coming up outside, and I'm still awake. I came so darned close!!! Then a noise brought me out of it and...oh, well, you both know the feeling...:o

I'm okay. Just tired. So I'm just ramblin'. Hopefully, both of you are sleeping deeply right now, what with the time-zones and everything.

I didn't know people even bought yeast anymore. You make pizza-dough from scratch??? You just GOTTA figure out a way to zap some of your home-cookin' to me through the internet, Curious.

I'm so glad to hear that the Alffes are having a good time. I've been wondering. And hoping.

I'd like to travel more, too. I spent almost two years in Germany when I was in the service, and visited Paris and Amsterdam and Ludwig's castles and some other neat stuff. But I was too young then to appreciate it enough. I'm sure it would be a totally different experience now that I'm "mature"...

Sweet dreams girls...

Mornin' Night Owls :)

your talk of travel reminded me of how I loved living in London!
..........so cheap to just hop a ferry over to France, rent a car and go anywhere all over Europe I loved travelling around the British Isles as well, and Scotland is quite one of my most favorite places in the whole world, tho france and Italy come a close second!

When I lived in Africa, my favourite travel was to the ginormous game parks in an old VW Kombi camper with one of those opening sunroofs.
We would leave the campsite before dawn and find a river or waterhole and park under a tree and just wait and watch the pageant of wild life come to drink and frolic in the water. Being able to view from the top out the sunroof was needed when the prides of lions arrived;) and took us a little closer to the gorgeous eyes of the giraffes:p
We once spent an entire fascinating morning watching the antics of a family of monkeys (hehehe see why I love ya Curious:D )

In the 16+ years that I have lived in the States, I have tried to travel to as much of this amazing country as possible and especially love going to where the mountains are (I grew up in the mountains around Cape Town,SA and so living here in flat Florida has been quite a readjustment for me!) havent been able to travel too far for a few years now due to my business needing me here almost 24/7.

well, thanks for the travel talk cos it sure brought back some happy memories
:)

Idealist, I'm sorry you didn't get much sleep. (Maybe you are sleeping now?)

Bizi has joined me in the chatroom so I'm multi-tasking .... typing this, drinking coffee, eating a bagel with peanut butter, and keeping the chatroom window open in the background to see when bizi is back from getting a coffee too. (bizi is Alffe's daughter)

I loved Scotland too, Chemar. I lived in St. Andrews for a year, quite a few years ago.

Africa sounds amazing! Sounds like a wonderful photo opportunity ... especially being closer to eye-level with giraffes!

cheers,

Idealist

Thanks Scrabble. I finally nodded off for a few hours just before noon, but never enough, I'm afraid... I'm still mighty tired. My three younguns has been talking my head off for the past six hours. Each one has to have their own personal time to talk to me, then it's all together...I love it, but...:o

Chemar, do you write professionally? Because if you don't, you sure ought to give it a thought. That was a beautiful description of Africa, and in such a short amount of space! It made me jealous that I've never seen anything like that. I was born in the mountains, though, so I'm very familiar with them. Like you, it's flat where I live now, about a hundred miles from the Atlantic Coast in VA. The mountains aren't very far away, though, and I can be on Skyline Drive in only two hours whenever I can make it, so...:)

The not-sleeping is pretty normal for me. It's just part of the whole pain thing. Sometimes I can't sleep for a few days, and get pretty tired. But then I sleep a lot and catch up. I'm sure you know how these things go...in cycles.

Yesterday was an incredible day for me, but it was too complicated for me to absorb until I get some sleep, let alone tell about it.

How have you been. I could tell you were feeling rough.

Idealist

there are 2 color schemes. you can change it by clicking the tab on the very bottom of the left hand side. it should say "default style" or " chestnut".
if you are on the defaultm you colors of the forum are shades of blue and grey. chestnut are tans to creme/white. on the default...the chat room link is right under the private message link.

ok...i'm taking off my mod hat now. :p

With the blue scheme ... you can see who is in the chat rooms by going to the main page (NeuroTalk Communities) and scrolling all the way to the bottom.

To get into the chat rooms, click on "Chat Rooms" at the top right corner of this page (or any page) - it is just beside "Log Out"

I wonder if Idealist was able to figure out what to do with his old computer so he can join us in chat again?

I wonder if Kell had a good sleep?

I wonder how much sleep Curious was able to get?

I wonder why I'm wondering if I'm not on the Wonder Thread?

Idealist

I wonder if Scrabble knows it's because she's been hanging around with a monkey...;)

Well...hooraaaayy! I finally got some sleep. Wasn't enough, but a decent start. I actually played a game of Life with my two girls today and was able to keep up fine...although I got my butt kicked but good! My girls felt so sorry for how bad I was losing that they were offering to give me some of THEIR money...:p They don't realize I always win every time I play a game with them...

Hope everyone's good. Well, if not "good" then at least well...;)
