Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers for the Disabled (http://www.monkeyhelpers.org/) is a national nonprofit serving quadriplegic and other people with severe spinal cord injuries or mobility-impairments by providing highly trained monkeys to assist with daily activities.

It was a very interesting story. The lady who runs the organization said that these monkeys aren't for just anyone. They work with several organizations for the disabled - she mentioned the Semper Fi organization for military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan - anyway, the people who receive these trained monkeys must have a caretaker or family member who can take care of the monkeys.

They are like 3-year-olds! They must be taken care of, too ;) They cost about $35k but go to each recipient free of charge due to donations. They train about 30 at a time and try to place 15 or 16 each year.

It was fascinating watching Kokomo on the show this morning.
