Now that all our newbies are settling in, how about telling each other about our favorite things here at our beloved NT?

Mine, hands down are DocJohn, the admin and the mods. When I came here, everyone was so good to me.:grouphug:

And I love, love, love the variety of people all over the place here. I had a sense of community here almost immediately, and all these months later, I still find supportive, new friends around every corner!:grouphug:

The smilies are pretty neato too!

I find NT to be amazing:D So many different rooms to go into. Meeting New people and hanging out with old buddies:wink:

The information is abundant! Doc John and the Mods are such nice people.

Everything is organized and it seems to run so smoothly. Lucky ME:)

One thing that I love is that when you get e-mail notification of a new post on a thread you are subscribed to, the text of the new post is in the e-mail so I can just scan through that without having to go to the site if I am busy.

Thanks Nappy..

When I first came here, Doc John had just started this great place as a temporary replacement for Braintalk, so that we would not all be lost. At that time, he called it Braintalk2, with the understanding, that it would cease, once Braintalk came back online.

When it became apparrent that BT had, pretty much, deserted us, we took a vote to keep Doc's forum as permanent and rename it NeuroTalk.......and our wonderful haven was born.

I believe Doc John will go straight to heaven for this wonderful jesture and not far behind him will be KimmyDawn, Doc's right hand man errr woman.

The Mods are all volunteer and equally as wonderful and helpfull..

So that's why I love this place and it's deffinately my "favorite thing"..:)

This site is amazing from the technical end of it to all of the wonderful people who were so welcoming and the great sense of community. They even have a place for our pets!!

I love the Thank you button so you can thank someone for their response with out having to remember each individual in your reply (no hurt feelings if you leave someone out) and of course I am obsessed with the emotican's!!

My favorite things? Lots!

I've found everyone here to be very friendly and helpful for starters. I am sure that having so many new members all at once was a tad overwhelming but everyone made us feel so welcome.

I didn't know about the HUGE PM limit but thanks for the heads up. Yes, I can be a packrat!

The emoticons - wow is all I can say!

I love the variety of boards to choose from. I like having all my needs - serious and not so serious - met at one website.

I could go on and on...but I'm at work and break time is over. :icon_cry:

I'm happy to see all the new faces. It got lonely here at times before, eh Sally?

I like that it is an international site, so newbies will find their way here.

I LOVE that Doc John is responsive to requests, that he is very much a part of the community, and that he is an extremely reasonable man to deal with. I was fortunate to have established a relationship with him in the early days, and he is truly genuine, caring and kind person.

The mods are very committed to their "jobs" and I admire them for that. Some of them barely sleep, I'm sure, as they seem to be here 24 X 7.

Oh gosh, I could spend all day just listing my all favorite things about this place.

Doc John and the Mods would have to top the list - they are awesome. :D

This site is SO organized - one of my favorite ways to be!! It's big but it's easy to navigate around. Not confusing at all.

All the members are so nice - welcomed us in with open arms without a cross word spoken. What a special bunch of people you all are!

The smilies are great - so many to choose from and some are so funny - I smile just looking at them!! :p

The "moods", the "thanks" feature. Being able to edit UP TO A DAY LATER!!! Are ya kidding me???:D That's great!!

OK - I think I'm done. I'm sure I'll think of more later......and hey!! I can still edit my post when I do!!! :D

**can you tell I like it here??**

OK, maybe not Mary Poppins but same actress. I saw the thread title and that song popped in my head and won't get out. UGH! Thanks AMN. LOL

1. The DocJohn and the moderators for being so understanding and patient as us newbies run around this place like a bunch of kindergarteners. So much to see and learn.

2. The warm welcome we have all received.

3. The amount of information within this site, not just things MS related. Quite awesome and impressive.

4. Meeting up with old friends I thought I had lost and making new ones.

I'm brand new so don't have alot to say yet but I haven't found a forum that I have felt like home at in awhile. I see lots of old friends here & got a great welcome. Really glad I found this place.

One of the things I'm really impressed by is how much information & forums this site has. I'm one of those that have been diagnosed with MS & undiagnosed so many times I've lost count. Since all that started for me, I felt very uncomfortable at another site because I just didn't feel I belonged ..... well, I did the diagnosed months but on my you have something else months, I didn't. Not sure if that made any sense.:Hum:

I think alot of us develop other conditions as well (I confess, mine are because I'm a steroid junkie!) I've developed diabetes, osteoporosis & a couple of other things the last few years so it's great to pop into those forums as well.

Oh yeah....love the smilies! :Grin-Nod: Looking forward to getting to know you guys better.

Just catching up reading the Threads today. I have been here for about
4 months but I feel like I have always been here.

Found this post by accident. Still don't know what I did to find this great
site.

Everyone feels like family. I can talk about personal life problems. Good times and bad times and you all listen. That is what is great by talking about everything we can have a chance to forget about our illness. When we do talk about our illness we know that everyone understands how we truly feel. The support for each other is great. Hope our enlarge family now
finds the friendship that I have found.

To the newbies -- I was also given a nickname by my new friend SALLY
or should I say MARY POPPINS

When you see the name JAPPY it is me JOYCE :D:D

The emails are a great idea....thank you to who ever thought of that one.

Keep looking!

When I went to New Zealand, it was quite an experience trying to "listen" to the people talk. My friend and I went into a Cafe to get coffee. The waiter knew we were Americans and had a little fun with us and we were quite compliant as the 2 of us were frequent travellers! The entire Cafe was laughing by the time we got our coffee - now was coffee black, white, with cream, milk, sweet or black with sweet.

The Aussie's were a bit more laid back and didn't talk quite so fast.

Then there was Ireland..oh boy! I couldn't listen fast enough!

And then I lived in Boston...I was not afraid to ask people there to spell things! They were actually insulted when I did that! Can you believe that!

So now what to expect when I go to North Wales in September????

Hmmmm....

The folks in Wales have a different dialect just as the people in the south of the US have a different dialect than the people from the north. I don't think you will have as much trouble in Wales as you did in Ireland. Many of the words and phrases they use in Ireland are foreign to the Brits, and vice-versa.

Last year, when we were looking to move, I thought that the folks in Boston sounded almost as if they had a tad of a British accent. They had a much easier time understanding me than the people down here do. Down here, I seem to have a terrible time with the native Atlantan's for some reason. New Yorker's are also very difficult for me to understand. They seem to drop the last letter of every word they are saying off. Perhaps it is me, but that has been my experience.:o

Good thing I got a GPS for Christmas! Next time it won't take us so long to go from Andover to Worcester!

This GPS is hilarious...it talks. If you miss a turn, it will either say recalculating route or when able, make a LEGAL u-turn and ....

I want it to say...hey stupid, you missed the turn!

Is that where you learned how to dance on the table?

Texas was easy...everyone is "fixin' to do somethin"

When we first moved to Boston, everyone wanted to know what part of the South I was from. When I answered I was from Oregon, they were totally confused. First, most of them didn't know where Oregon was and those that did, had no idea it was part of the South! LOL!

If you are not from Boston, you are from the South...you're either a Yankee or you're not...took me a while to figure that out! I did like Boston but it was a difficult place to live in!

Being a big Red Sox fan helped a lot!
