I'm sitting at my computer biding my time 'cos I'm off to hospital (yet again) in 2 hours time to have the end of this purdy l'il nose chopped off.

If I was a nail biter, I'd probably have none left by now as I'm a wee tad nervous at the moment. I think I'm more scared today than I was when I headed off for the hemicolectomy! At least then I knew the hospital, the doctors and the nurses looking after me. No such luck this time as we've just moved states, and I'm taking pot luck with all of those things. At least the surgeon (female) is a real sweety, and the best plastic surgeon they've got here, I'm told.

I'm not sure how long I'll have to stay in hospital, but hopefully I'll be out tomorrow. I guess it all depends on the skin graft.

Good luck to you, Koala. I'm sure you'll do just fine. I would be nervous, too, but just try and concentrate on getting better and it'll be over and done with before you know it!

I'm great at giving out advice - not so great at taking my own suggestions.....:o

I used to work for a plastic surgeon when we were stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. I was the non-sterile roamer in the operatories...it was fun work and I really enjoyed it...sort of...(some of the surgeries were pretty bloody...but most times it was interesting!)

Anyway, you will do just fine cuz I said so! Keep us posted! :hug:

Well, I know I missed your seeing my post, Anne~ but AMN called and reminded me of your surgery, so as I was driving down the road, I was sending up prayers for you.

I know it will be OK, I just feel it.

Another friend of mine had similar surgery last yr and you can't even tell.

The operation apparently went well, but the surgeon said the cancer had spread a long way down, and she had to dig very deeply for it. I won't know until the Pathology results are back whether she got it all or not, but I'll try not to stress too much over that for now.

I was able to talk the nurses into letting me go home the same day......so much for my DH always saying I couldn't talk my way out of a wet paper-bag, :D and apart from being very sore, looking like I just did 10 rounds in the ring with Mohammed Ali, (and losing them all), I'm doing OK.

Just wanted to let you know, and send my thanks. :hug:

Was this skin cancer from the sun?

I wasn't told whether it was or nor, :Hum: but I guess nose cancers are mostly caused by the sun. I'll ask the surgeon when I see her next week.

Even if it is, you can always count on me to get the nastiest type! Some times I think I'm just plagued!

I'm OKish today....still a tad sore, and have 2 beautiful shiners where my eyes used to be, but I'll be fine..(sniff, sniff) I always bounce back.

Friday will probably be a long time coming around, 'cos that's when I find out if the doc got all the cancer, or whether I have to go through all this carp again. Not sure if I could handle that.

I even put a pic up for you to see what I looked like with a nose.....I doubt if you'll be seeing an "after" photograph, so make the most of it! :)
