We had some fun with this one.

It goes like this.

If you have one laying aroung, fine, use that. Otherwise buy one that you want to look good in, notone you already do. I never try them on. I always get them online, in fact, and often from clearance (I'm a cheapo).

Then you pick one day a week when nobody's around and put it on and peek in the mirror.

What ever diet or exercise you do - if any - here's your incentive to stick with it, work harder at it.

Face it, the bathing suit hides nothing. You are used to seeing yourself nekked or in your undies, but that bathing suit - OTHER PEOPLE are gonna see that!

You can use the scale or the tape measure as a guide, but the suit is the real test to me.

We get back here and laugh and suport each other through the winter and spring and compare notes. We all had good results.

Bonus: you get used to seeing yourself in the suit! so it's less of a shock when swim season is here.

Okay, so who's in?

Judy with your new, improved and skinny butt, I hope to see you in on this! You ROCK, baby!

I'm not sure I can maintain a positive attitude if I participate in this.

OH! The Horror!!! I'm 'fluffy' :D That's when you are only 15-20lbs overweight but its turning to 40's flab

I'm starting Pilates today, PT next week, and I'm trying to eat better (or less!) I'll join you!

I don't have to post a pic in my bikini do I??? LOL!!

This is a scary thread!!

I usually buy my bathing suits in catalogs too. I was just looking at some over the weekend trying to think what I could possibly get this year. Last year I had to go to the Tankini but that isn't going to help me this year. I don't know what happened to my back view from the waist down but it isn't pretty! I was thinking no bikini or shorts and a summer of capri's and tank tops.

I did have my husband blow up my excercise ball yesterday. Time to do some major squats and work on my abs.

Last year I bought a new suit. Nice top that resembles a tank top and of course my new suit has shorts. Putting it on doesn't bother me. I'll have to see if I can find one of my old "real" bathing suits to play!!

Okay, count me in! I looked in the mirror this morning and just about fainted. I lost twenty pounds in mid-2006 (Divorce Diet, LOL), and started gaining it back this past summer after it was final. :( I'm in the same boat as Greenjeans, all except I'm already a few years past forty and am already starting to see the flab she mentioned.

My daughter (5) and I like to go swimming at an indoor pool, and I had to tactfully find something else to do yesterday when she suggested we go. :Noooo: Thank goodness it was 60 degrees and we could go to the park.

So, Brain, tell us a little more about this adventure! Do have weekly checkins on weight and measurements?

Let's all start the winter FAT MELT DOWN!

:holysheep:

Oh dear Lord, this thread frightens me!!!

I will not - repeat WILL NOT - put on a bathing suit this summer. :yikes:

Joelle, I can relate to the weight gain during a relapse. I did the same thing - and I'm to the point that I just don't care if I look good in a bathing suit.

I used to fret and obsess over the way I looked in everything I wore. No more. I'm going for comfort and ease and now safety. If someone doesn't like the way I look - then don't look at me!! :D

Oh come on Barb. Which is more important? Looking good or having people like being around you? LOL!

I agree. I think doing this AND doing the positive attitude thread is asking too much for one person. Gotta choose. :icecream:

Actually I had DH take a pic of my bikini scar today (had colon removed couple months ago). Wanted the pic for posterities sake. :D

Are you kidding?!! OMG, I don't even like to look at the dark circles around my eyes much less the flab around the middle anymore.

Besides it's too late, I've already covered all my mirrors! I just pretend I'm still as cute as I think I am. Besides, I like living in the land of denial, it's more fun there. :Grin-Nod:

Okay......I'm in.Just don't expect me to send a picture. See the picture I use for my avatar? Do I look like a skinny girl? Well I have gained another 20 pounds since then. But the issue is,we are boating people and I have to get in a suit this summer.
The really funny thing about this is I was just thinking yesterday that I would have DD take pictures of me from all angles to hang on the refrigerator. I tried putting the scale in front of the refrigerator but just used it for a step stool to get to the icream in the back of the freezer.:icecream:

Oh people, people, people! Where the heck am I going to go in a bathing suit in 110 degree weather with the BLAZING sun and a cacti for shade? The pool? Don't think so - it's hotter than bath water - Not the refreshing splash you see them do on those Carnival cruise ads. LOL.

I'll give it a shot. Besides, I probably need a new one any how. My polka dot bikini doesn't do my aging body justice any more. Or maybe my aging body doesn't do my polka dot bikini justice anymore. I like that much better. LOL.

I had ordered three new suits last june for trip back to Hawii. The one I liked best I was already to fat(Rubinesque) to get into. Must do something. If I had a friend here in Vancouver with a remotely similar schedule, who could go to the pool with I'd excercise before work. <finding excuses already>

OK Theresa, Should we join the Firstenburg Center or the Y? Do you think we could sneak in around midnight? In the dark?

I wear a swimsuit to my water fitness class three times a week at the health club.

I was dreading wearing a suit in front of the other ladies in my class but turns out they are in their 70's, 80's and one is 94!!

At first I had a heck of a time keeping up with them but doing better now.

I have learned to just accept the fact I will never look good in a swimsuit and a two piece is out of the question!!

If I can still be active and have the confidence these older women have I will be thrilled!!:winky:

(Of course; if I win the lottery... I can get a body lift, breast implants, fat suctioning and a complete overhaul.)

I think the Firstenbug is closer but we'd have to pick the lock to get in at midnight !

I may post a pic of me in the summer but not in a bathing suit. lol
