I just found this forum. I am a devout Trekker. We used to be called Trekkies, but I believe the term Trekker is the one that most of them want to be known by. I don't know how many of you grew up with Star Trek. But just in case anyone wishes to play a Star Trek Trivia Game, I'll start by posting a trivia question. But you can't cheat. You either know the answser, or give it a really good guess. Let's see if we can stump each other!!!
First question:
The Trouble with Tribbles: - What was the name of the grain that poisoned all the Tribbles????
Whoever gets the answer correct, has to post a new Star Trek Trivia Question.

Okay, new question: What was the card came that Kirk played with Krakow and Oxmix. The episode was entitled PIECE OF THE ACTION. The card game they played was ................??
This is a good one.

Montgomery (took me all of one second to remember that one), I'm glad I'm not a dead trekkie, trekker, whatever!!!!! lol . And do you know that no one in the history of Star Trek ever called him Montgomery!!!
Now, here's a good one.
Spock landed on a planet that was supposed to be being helped by the landing party from years back. Only that landing party, (well something happened to them), and walked around in La La Land!!!
There was a beatiful woman (played by Jill Ireland).
What was her name in that episode, and WHY DID THEY ACT LIKE THEY WERE IN LA LA LAND??. And Spock so completely changed that he hung from a tree in that episode.
Okay, get crackin!!

Oh, by the way, her name was Leyla, or Laila, (spelling, never knew how they spelled it). I'm pretty sure that was her name.
Gonna go check it out. If I'm wrong, hit me with a wet noodle.
Be back later, and update right here.
Wow, that was fast. They spelled it LEILA!!!
Ya can't tell me I don't know my Star Trek!!!!!!
When I used to work (back 20 to 30 years ago), they used to have trivia contests and bet on them for money, then they would come to me for the answers. They never allowed me to play. lol

Q. James T. Kirk,what does the T stand for:)
PolarExpress
02-14-2008, 06:01 PM
Tiberious (or however it's spelled)..~~
MelodyL
02-14-2008, 08:43 PM
Tiberius. (OH, JUST REALIZED THAT POLAR EXPRESS BEAT ME TO IT.).
Polar Express: You now have to post a Star Trek Question!!!
Now....what was Kirks wife's name. (he only had one wife, maybe not legally, but to HER people, well they were wed).
And what happened to her?? And what did she call him throughout that episode?? One of my favorites by the way.
McGimpy
02-16-2008, 05:53 PM
Ok my best guess, Kirk's wife i know it started with an M,like Mary or something:confused:
and i think she died,as for kirks name ?:(:o
MelodyL
02-16-2008, 06:19 PM
Okay, the episode started with Kirk standing by an Obelisk. He opened his communicator and said "Kirk to Enterprise", the bottom portion of the Obelisk opened and he went into the Obelisk. He was caught in a memory erasing beam. He staggered out of the Obelisk and a girl named MIRAMANEE approached him.(I have no idea if this is correct spelling) I'm doing all this from memory.
Because Kirk's memory was erased, (he had glimpses in his mind), he thought his name was KUROK. So that's what everybody called him. They thought he was a God because he walked out of what they called the Sacred something or other.
It actually was an asteroid deflecting beam thingee.
So at the end of the episode, a rival medicine man started the stoning of Kirk and Miramanee (who was pregnant by the way). She died.
So this is the only time in Star Trek history that Kirk got married (morally anyway).
See why people would make bets and call me up???
You should have seen my son watching me one day and I was saying the dialogue while the Tribble Episode was on. It was like 35 years since it aired. He said to me "How do you do that"??? I have no idea. I just a great long term memory for dialogue. Very bad short term, but my long term is just fine.
Will think of some more good questions.
And if you can think of some, pop right on in.
Take care,
Mel

Q. Captain Kirk had a brother, what was his name?
MelodyL
02-17-2008, 12:11 AM
Ah, good old George.
This was the episode with the flying creatures that attached themselves to your back and only some kind of light weapon could kill them. Kirk landed on the planet and his brother, the brother's wife, and the kid were there. I think the kid survived.
How'd I do???
McGimpy
02-17-2008, 01:03 PM
You're right on everything but the brothers name, I think it was Sam(i think)
MelodyL
02-17-2008, 02:10 PM
His name was George SAMUEL Kirk, but he called him Sam.
See, we're both right.
Okay, here's a good one!!!
France Nuyen played a warrior kind of princess (The Dolman of Elaas),who was promised to an enemy in marriage. She wanted no part of it and she had an affair with Kirk. Seems anyone who is touched by the tears of a woman from her planet, well they lose all control over themselves (remember this episode???)
There was a guy (he played Caligula in one of those old Rome pictures with Victor Mature), anyway, this actor played a kind of ambassador from the enemy planet who had to train Fance Nuyen to be a proper Queen when she married the King of that planet.
He kept referring to her (THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EPISODE) by a specific phrase. I never forgot what he called her.
Do you remember??
McGimpy
02-17-2008, 04:10 PM
You're good. come on someone 's got to know this one:)
MelodyL
02-17-2008, 04:54 PM
I can't believe it's just you and me playing STAR TREK!!!! lol
By the way, the answer is
He called her YOUR GLORY, and when he was referring to her, he said 'HER GLORY".
Remember??
Now it's your turn.
Think of a good one.
And believe me, I don't look anything up. If I don't know the answer, I'll own up to it.
McGimpy
02-17-2008, 04:59 PM
If i remember right there was only one actor that played a Vulcan,Romulan and Klingon can you name the actor ?
MelodyL
02-17-2008, 08:42 PM
No Sweat!!!
He played the Romulan guy first, the episode was about a battle between the enterprise and the first Romulans they ever saw. And at the end of that episode, the defeated Romulan commander looks into the camera and says something like "I could have even called you friend". Never forgot that episode.
Don't know which came next, either Sarek, (spocks daddy), or the Klingon character.
But the answer is ....DRUM ROLL.
Mark Leonard

Now it's your turn. Think of something really hard. You can go even go and google Star Trek Trivia, and give me a hard one.
I don't know actual names of episodes or their air dates. I'm not THAT kind of Trekkie, the kind that goes to all the conventions and dress like Vulcans and Klingons and greet each other with KAPLAAA, (the Klingon Salute).
I never have gone to a convention. Always wanted to, and I'm sorry I never did. I'd feel absolutely stupid now to do this, but I do enjoy remembering the stuff.
So think away and when you get a good one, post it, okay??

They all beamed down to a planet where one's wishes come true. It's like a great big playground. This is where Dr. McCoy saw the white rabbit.
Now James Kirk met up with an old friend from his days at the academy!!!

Thomas
Okay, my turn.
In the original Star Trek series, there was an episode featuring Zephran Cochran (played by Glenn Corbett).
He was stranded on this planet and this cloudy misty kind of creature became his friend.
This cloudy misty kind of creature was referred to as ???????????????????
and here's a bonus. At the end of the episode, the misty creature went into the body of a female guest star in this particular episode.
Who played the guest star?? If you get this right, you remember Father's Knows Best starring Robert Young.
Oh, I don't even know if you are from the United States.
McGimpy
02-18-2008, 08:03 PM
Elinor Donahue, was also on the odd couple

PolarExpress
02-18-2008, 10:41 PM
OK..I hope this isn't too vague..
What was the name of the time portal that sent Spock, Kirk, and I believe Dr McCoy to the planets Ice Age?
MelodyL
02-19-2008, 07:43 AM
They met a guy named Mrs. Atos, who sent them through something called The Atavachron. This is how Spock met Zarabeth who wore fur skins and who brought out the BEAST in Spock.
There's another episode of a portal being used. IN that one the portal is called The Guardian of Forever.
This is the episode starring Joan Collins as Edith Keeler. She (had she lived) would have changed history, so that's why Kirk and Spock just stood there while Edith Keeler diedl (a great episode by the way.
So first portal was The Atavachron, (and the second one was The Guardian of Forever).
Now here's my question to you.
Kirk and Spock went to a planet that had another city in the clouds.
Spock was attracted to the daughter of the head of this planet. A beautiful VERY THING young woman. They talked about science.
What was her name?? Upon introduction, she said "I've never met a Vulcan, and he looked at her and said "Nor I a work of art".
Never forgot that one!!!!!
PolarExpress
02-19-2008, 08:49 PM
I think her name was Droxine, or something like that..Sounds medicinal..:D
The question I asked was about the Atavachron (although Guardian of Forever would've been close)..What actress played Zarabeth?
MelodyL
02-19-2008, 09:47 PM
Mariette Hartley
I'm watching American Idol right now.
I'll be back later and give you a good one!!!
MelodyL
02-19-2008, 10:05 PM
Okay, here you go!!!
What was the name of Spock's betrothed?? They were joined as children.
And what was the name of the guy she actually wanted to marry?? She chose Kirk to be her champion because she knew he wouldn't keep her and she'd have the other guy anyway.
The name of this episode was Amok Time. I must have seen this one a million times.
PolarExpress
02-19-2008, 10:25 PM
OK..That was one of my faves..T'Pring was his "wife's" name..I'm not sure how to spell the guy's name, but I'll take a stab at it ~ S'Ton??
I gotta go beddy-bye, but I'll leave you with one more:
What was the very last episode of Star Trek about? (hint: hell hath no fury..) Night night! :Zzzz:
MelodyL
02-20-2008, 08:39 AM
Excellent. I always referred to him as STAN, but you are most likely correct in the way you spelled it because Vulcans spell everything with a T, TPau, Tpring, T this and T tht. So good job.
Now as to the last episode of Star Trek. This one was my favorite of all the episodes in the 3 seasons.
Turnabout Intruder.
Dr. Janice Lester, a scientist (with an assistant who is in love with her), she was the only woman denied a Starship command because SHE WAS A WOMAN.
So what does she do?? The switches minds with Captain Kirk.
OF course everybody now thinks she's nuts and puts her in the brig, until Spock mind melds with her.
But the acting of William Shatner, as he was using an emory board and filing his nails, and he puts his hand on the shoulder of the other guy (the one who actually was in love with Janice Lester), well that was one piece of acting, let me tell you.
And I remember the scene with Scotty and the others in the hall, saying "that's when we move against them, that's when we take over the ship".
Then "Captain Kirk" orders General Order 24 or some number thing, and orders everybody put to death and they all stand down and they arrest them all.
Then for some reason, Spock is walking with Janice Lester (who is actually James T Kirk), and by the end of the episode, the mind is switched back.
Then the assistant holds Janice Lester in his arms promising to care for her the rest of her life, and he tells her "You are as I've loved you".
Never forgot that one. I loved the actress who played Janice Lester (can't think of her name). She sat on that chair like a man, she moved her body like a man (I mean, why woudn't she, she was indeed Kirk inhabiting her body).
What a great ending to a great show.
Okay, here's yours.
There was an episode with a young man, played by Robert Walker Jr. He was an orphan and he escaped and he had the mind power to DO ANYTHING HE WANTED TO DO. He drove everybody nuts.
What was his name?
McGimpy
02-20-2008, 10:14 AM
Does this count? Charlie was his name can't recall his last name.
Question: Who wrote the theme song to Star Trek?(original)
McGimpy
02-21-2008, 05:49 PM
Alexander Courage wrote the song:o
MelodyL
02-21-2008, 07:34 PM
Well, you beat me to it. I never knew who wrote the song.
I will not be able to be playing these games because Alan had his operation today, and we just got home from the hospital today.
I'm absolutely exhausted. The hardest part of the whole day was getting him out of the hospital and to the Access-a-ride on crutches. The man does not know how to use crutches.
Then getting him off of the access a ride and up to our front door.
Oh my god. I thought he would fall on me.
Now he's in the wheelchair and i just went and filled his prescription and bought home steamed chicken and veggies.
I am absolutely exhausted.
I will go over the Neuropathy board and post his update because that is the main forum I go on. Then, only once in a while until he's back on his feet.
We have no family and every thing is on ME!!!!
Oh well. That's what happens when you get married. You take care of each other. He does appreciate me (most of the time). lol
You take care.
See you soon and hopefully others will come and play this game.

David Marcus (son of Carol Marcus) who developed the Genesis project.
David got killed by some nasty klingons when he was kneeling down next to that female vulcan (what the heck was her name??). First Kirstey Alley played her then another actress played her. Can't remember the character's name. Oh god, I'm getting senile!!! It had to begin with the letter T, because every female vulcan that I know starts with the letter T. AARRRRGGHHH!!!

False. He's from Canada.
Okay, my turn.
In the original series, this particular episode concerned a bunch of children who did not acknowledge the fact that all their parents were dead.
They worshipped a friendly Angel, named Gorgon.
A very famous attorney played this role. (He is in fact the only attorney ever to appear on Star Trek). I never forgot this episode.
Do you know who played Gorgon, the friendly Angel???
McGimpy

"Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed".
Told you I'm good!!!! (nah, I just remember anything to do with any Star Trek Episode).
your turn!!!

POP GOES THE WEASEL!!!!
Okay, here's a good one.
In one or two episodes, Picard went down back to earth to the Starfleet academy, and met up with the groundskeeper (who was like a mentor to him), when he first joined the academy.
This role was played by a very well known actor.
What was the actor's name and what was the character he played??
This is a good one. If you get this, you really DO know your Star Trek.

HI. I've been so busy writing about my steam mop, (see social chat), that I forgot all about Star Trek.
But I just watched a good Star Trek film from 2005. Star Trek Nemesis.
Okay, What was the name of the Android (that looked like Data), that they found (in pieces), in this particular movie???
McGimpy
03-15-2008, 07:23 PM

What is the name of Captain Picards brother?
MelodyL
03-17-2008, 10:00 AM
I remember the episode. There was a young boy involved. He wanted to join the stars like his famous uncle but the kid's father wanted him to go into the wine business or something like that.
Picard's brother (well his last name was Picard, riight? lol).
This is a wild guess but was it Jean???
IF I'm wrong, hit me with a wet noodle.
Robert... pronounced RoBear
now this... what is Picard's nephew's name?
MelodyL
03-17-2008, 10:47 AM

Wil Wheaton's character Wesley, was ultimately taken away by a mentor who literally appeared in and out of no where and could change time and make it stand still.
What did they call this character?
McGimpy
03-18-2008, 02:36 PM
My best guess is,the time traveler:o

what is Lt. Uhura's first name?
MelodyL
03-18-2008, 10:49 PM
Ah, this is a most interesting question.
Many people think that Nyota is her first name.
Gene Roddenberry made it abundently clear that William Shatner mispronounced one of his lines, and he never called her Nyota.
So, according to Gene Roddenberry, Uhura has no first name. But according to everybody else who watches Star Trek, her first name is Nyota.
Okay, my turn.
And it's a doozy.
Walter Koenig, who played Pavel Chekov on Star Trek, is actually (in real life), the father of an actor who was on a certain comedy show.
The character's name was Boner.
What was the name of the show that Walter Koenig's son was on. It ran for MANY YEARS.
Bet you don't know this one!!!
McGimpy
03-19-2008, 11:18 AM
First,great question.Second i haven't stopped laughing since i read the question:D

MelodyL
03-19-2008, 03:49 PM
GROWING PAINS!!!
His last name was Stabone on that show. And he was Kirk Cameron's friend on that show.
Oh, an interesting piece of Trivia on Kirk Cameron. He was named after Captain James T. Kirk because his parents LOVED Star Trek.
He and his wife have 6 children. 4 adopted, 2 bio.
Nice family.
Your turn......

Alexander Siddig, played Dr. Bashir on Star Trek:DS9
He also has a famous uncle that played an evil dude in one of the Star Trek movies,Can you name the uncle and his character?
MelodyL
03-20-2008, 06:09 PM
Yeah, good old Dr. Bashir (who married Kira in real life).
They change changed his name (after he was on awhile). His real name was something like Siddig Al Fazir (but they americanized it to) Alexander Siddig.
Now let me think. I can only think it might be F. Murray Abraham (I'm probably way off base), but he's the only guy I can think of.
I know I'm wrong. I don't want to cheat and look it up, so my best guess is F. Murray Abraham.
Shoot me now!! lol

Q. William Shatner was born in Germany (true or false):winky:
MelodyL
03-25-2008, 09:43 PM
Well, I thought he was born in Canada!!!!
His character is from Iowa, I think. He mentioned this in the film with the Whales.
But William Shatner, where was he born?? hm. I say Canada.
Am I right or wrong.
See, I told you I don't cheat. No fun in that.

AHA!!! Haven't lost my touch have I??
Okay, my turn
AND IT'S A DOOZY.
Spock's father, Sarek was originally married to a Vulcan Princess (her name was never mentioned), but that's how Sybok was conceived.
Then he married Amanda Grayson. After she died......... he married again (to another Human Being). He liked human wives compared to Vulcan wives. He said this to Picard.
What was the name of Sarek's 3rd wife.
Hint.. This was the episode where Sarek was found to have a disease (known only to Vulcans) and toward the end of their life cycles, their emotions came full circle.
TOLD YOU THIS WAS A DOOZY!!!! lol

Let's see,In Star Trek III who played the klingon villian?
MelodyL
03-28-2008, 08:14 PM
Ah!!! too easy.
This is my favorite film in the series.
Christopher Lloyd played Kruge and the beautiful Klingon that he blew out of the sky was Valkris. I loved it when he realizes that she has seen the tape on Genesis and he said to her: "you viewed it, and she said: Yes, most interesting, (or some such dialogue), and then he goes 'too bad" And she goes; "understood".
Then she said something else and she called him "My Lord and My Love"
Greatest movie in the series.
They are doing another Star Trek film, coming out in 2009 I believe. It's all about the Starfleet academy and the guy who plays the young Spock is absolutely fantastic. And Leonard Nimoy will play him too. He's 77 now. Good for him.

I don't know if it's my turn but here goes.
It's a strange one but does have to do with Star Trek
Mark Lenard who played Spock's father was also in another tv show
called Here Come The Brides.
One of Lenard's co-stars from that show also played a character in the original Star Trek. Can you name the Actor and the character he played.
(it's one of my favorites)
MelodyL
04-02-2008, 08:09 PM
Hah!!!! I'm better than you think.
Actually there were 2 characters from Here Come the Brides who showed up in Star Trek.
The one you are thinking of is David Soul, right?? in Star Trek, he played the guy in the episode about VOL, and everybody wore white makeup on their faces and Keith Andes (who married Vera Miles), he was the leader who had to placate VOL.
The OTHER actor was Robert Brown, and he played in a Star Trek Episode where he had some kind of space craft but he was stuck in some kind of a time dimension and he had a fight with Captain Kirk.
Do you remember that one???
McGimpy
04-02-2008, 08:13 PM
Very good i forgot about David Soul.
But i was thinking of the one with Robert Brown,He played Lazarus

Ah, the one with Joan Collins as Edith Keeler and McCoy who goes nuts.
Answer: Harlon Ellison
I guess it's my turn now??
Want to know something?? i can't think of any more questions. lol
If you do though, feel free.
I just got my juicer today (look in Social chat) I put a thread about it.
With a video I made.
I juice in the a.m. and I wanted a more modern one.
Take a look.

O.K. I have a St Trivia question.
What real life explorer was Gene Roddenberry's inspiration??
MelodyL
06-10-2008, 08:22 PM
Marco Polo?????
Actually, I have no idea, this is just a guess. See, I told you I don't cheat!!
mel
Gene Roddenberry spent a lot of time in the South Pacific and earned medals for his successful bombing missions. After he came back is when he started working on the Star Trek Pilot.
I don't think this was just a coincindence: Captain, James T. Kirk and Captain James Cook, sound very much alike. And James Cook DID boldly go where no other man went:
Captain James Cook FRS RN (27 October 1728 (O.S.) – 14 February 1779) was a British explorer, navigator and cartographer, ultimately rising to the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy. Cook was the first to map Newfoundland prior to making three voyages to the Pacific Ocean during which he achieved the first European contact with the eastern coastline of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands as well as the first recorded circumnavigation of New Zealand.

Wow, James Cook!!! Never knew that fact in my whole life.
I now know one more piece of trivia that I didn't know about Star Trek.
Thanks so much.
Take care,
Melody
