View Full Version : How is your weather??

We have friends and relatives (in-laws and out-laws) in Iowa, Illinois and Ohio and Winter this year has been horrible!

I hear from my sister in central Iowa about the heavy snows, ice storms, temps below zero and just trying to get to the mailbox is a chore!

My friends in Illinois are telling me the same thing with heavy snow and ice. When I chatted with my DS in Ohio this morning he told me they had a thunderstorm last night.

We have had some warmer temps here this week and it has been in the 60's days and mid 30's at night. We are supposed to have rain coming in with high winds again by the weekend so not looking forward to that at all. The sun was out but hiding behind clouds now so an ugly gray day here.

How are things in your neck of the woods??

This winter hasn't been too bad here (Atlanta)...knock on wood. Of course we've been in severe drought conditions which doesn't look like it's going to be getting any better anytime soon.

Have a lot of water restrictions. Can't wash the car so we have to go to the car wash. Stuff like that.

Fortunately all our plants and trees are established. Some of the less mature ones have died.

But as far as bad weather, there's been some around us, but we've been very fortunate.

Right now it's 63 which is cooler than earlier, it was sunny but the clouds are starting to come in....rain for the next few days. I would rather it be like this year round, I hate the summer here when it's in the 90's.

I live in NW Ohio, and it's been weird as usual.

:D

We can go from t shirts and shorts to 3 layers of clothes and turn the heater up in a couple of hours.

We've had sunshine, T storms, freezing rain and 10" of snow all in the same day 4 times this season that I can think of - and I don't think so good.

:winky:

Right now it's about normal - 20 degrees with 20 mph winds.

The T storms are really out of season though. Very scary. That's what happens before blizzards and off season tornadoes. We got lucky and had neither. Actually, it's been really mild over all. Cold, but mild if that makes sense.

:rain: YAY :rain: It's raining today! :D

It's been so dry here that our lawns are looking very sick. Our gardens have a sprinkler system to they'e OK, but the poor grass has to be hand watered.

No water restrictions here as yet, but I daresay if we don't get more :rain: then they won't be far away!

Temperature's a pleasant 78 degrees and I'm in Tshirt and shorts.

Cold...we were up in Madison, WI this weekend. My son called from Naperville on Sunday, said it was shirtsleeve weather and heavy rain. We were in heavy snow. By the next morning, all of the rain puddles here at home were ice rinks...
It's been such a weird winter here. I can remember the weather guy saying it would be a warmer, drier winter. Boy was he wrong!!

Typical 'Spring Teasing' here in the Sandhills of NC.
Bounces anywhere form 50's to 70's during the day and usually 30's at night.

But we finally got enough rain to erase the 2 foot deficit and drought conditions from last summer.

Gonna move north-west one day. Definitely gonna move.

Webster, NY with no snow - what happened to the snow belt - in Rochester for 4 years in the 60's - blizzard after blizzard followed by lake effect snow -

And NC - Moose we were down there - Lenoir - from the middle of Jan for about 10 days to get away from Maine - it snowed Moose school was cancelled and it was pretty darn chilly - so that's it for NC and the Blue Ridge Pkwy -

Up here warm yesterday 45 - temp dropping - supposedly single digits over the weekend and we still have snow - all the rain - sleet - fog - snow - it's still on the ground - down to a foot now - always a snowstorm on St Pats Day - Yipee -

Currently, it is 10 degrees with a wind chill of 1 degree. For some reason, this is even more biting cold than last week when the WC was in the negative digits.

I am ready to jump off the nearest bridge.

I long to be able to stand outside long enough to get a few deep breaths of fresh air without risking frostbite.

I am tired of wearing all of these heavy clothes!!

I am tired of spending five minutes before each departure putting on coat, scarf, earmuffs, mittens, boots

..and of spending an additional five minutes taking it all off once you reach your destination.

I want to eat ice cream - outside.

I want to wear flip flops.

I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face.

I want my back to ache from planting flowers instead of shoveling snow.....

Okay, is everyone ready to kill the person that asked how everything was in my neck of the woods!!

It is supposed to be 65 degrees here today - I doubt it will get that high. They are always so optimistic with the high temps....

I want to move to the Pacific Northwest. I need to be in a climate where it stays colder longer than it stays warm. The heat kills me. I'd love to move to Alaska. Now, before everyone who actually lives in Alaska asks me if I am crazy, I prefer the cold weather. I prefer cloudy, cold weather to sunny, hot weather. I've always been like this - it's just with adding MS to the mix I am even more like this than I ever was before!

I love the snow, rain, wind and cold! A few sunny days thrown in are fine - but you can keep the heat.

It should be in the mid 60's this week, yesterday was in the 70's partly cloudy and we had the front door open till dinnertime when the temps started to drop. We're expecting rain the next three days, its very overcast right now.

I'd like to go to Petsmart and get the furkids groomed, toenails at the very least, they are getting so long, and they both think my legs are scratching posts (maybe I should get them one).

DH is napping again, I really hate to disturb him to go into town, but he hates staying home alone....and he is just getting over a bad case of bronchitis.

Yes Joyce...You have the weather I had last week...cold and snowing, but the winds were behind that and it got warm and started melting on Monday.

So next week, you'll have the spring weather. It usually takes anywhere from 7-10 days to make it your way :) So far, we've had four days in a row of good weather (well, it's in the 30-45 mark...very warm for us this time of year)

We still have several months of winter to go.

You people in GA, CA, Texas, Beleze and other points south.....Kiss my grits..:p:D

Here is your kiss, Sally. It's supposed to go up to 67 today. There is cloud coverage. Yesterday was so nice. The sun was out. I opened all my windows. It was beautiful.:p LOL.

Now, come summer it will be a whole different story. The sweltering heat of 100+ degrees and the hot blazing sun with no trees to shade you will be cause for many "complaints" from me.

We're in the midst of receiving a foot of snow. After snow we'll get about an inch of sleet.

For decoration, I guess

I'm hoping Spring will be here shortly....

Stay warm.
Stay dry.

Cheers!
