I beg of everyone to please bless my Nina. She is back at the ER and may not come out of this. She is in critical condition. I am not going to go into the last few hours of my time with her, too painful. I am not ready for her death because I put her here when all I was doing was trying to sustain quality of life. Out of a family of 8, there are only 4 left. If I lose her tonight, there is only 3. I am so upset. I just plead for your prayers.

Thank you

Please bless my Nina

I feel the power of prayer. I got up at 5:30 this morning and saw that I had missed a call from the vet. They did not leave a message. It took me 30 minutes to stop crying and to call them back. She is still with us! Fever is very high and she is not getting around. I am on my way back to the ER to transport her for ultrasound. I feel your prayers and your love and plead with you all to continue. God bless.

New pic of Nina under my profile. This one was taken after coming home from the groomers Thursday. Nina wanted to go back outside for her walk.

Still waiting for phone call from vet after the ultrasound.

Thank you everyone, I can still feel the power of prayer.

Ha Ha! And I thought your were some kind of genious or something, so curious is your secret! Ah hah! Call it age and being blonde. I hate cell phones too. Why can't they just make things with an on off button and not be so damn technical and confusing. I am so going back for everything being done manually again!

Thank you, and yes I know she is gorgeous. I hope I look that good when I am 98!

My blessed little Nina has now been transferred back to the ER. She actually was able to halfway walk out of the clinic tonight with a sling until she gave up and they carried her to my car. Her breathing was very labored when we arrived at the ER, but it was due to the excertion she mustered to lay down in her kennel. We gave her lots of loves and kisses and nite nites. She lifted her head many times tonight. She has not eaten anything since Saturday morning. On her ultrasound they commented about her having unbelievable kidneys for a dog of her age. That a girl, Nina! No masses were found and she is now tucked in for the night. I will be back tomorrow a.m. to transport her to the ICU. Thank you all for your continued prayers. This is not her time, I feel it!

Nina update! She walked to my truck tonight unassisted! She teetered a couple of times and I had to pick her up and load her. Back to ER for all night care. We lavished kisses and gave her her sleeping buddies and blankie. Her eyes look great compared to 2 days ago. The ICU told me she was very vocal today (siberian huskys sing instead of bark, much like a coyote). However, the whole drive to the ER she wined from the pain. By the time we got there, she walked a bit and then collapsed. They couldn't even put a stethescope to her tummy cause she was in so much pain. More pain meds. She was very alert and looked great when I left. Our regular vet will be back from Mexico tomorrow. I am sure I am going to get an ear full!

Me, Sara and Emma just wanted to say how much we can feel your love and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you so much!

This emotional roller coaster is awful. I picked up Nina this morning and she is right back to where she was over 24 hours ago. Had to be carried to and from my car. Her eyes are very distant again and this is day six with no food. I am so upset. My regular vet is back and gave me a great big hug and my girls gift cards with a picture of Nina sleeping with one of her babies. However, today is surgery day and he is overwhelmingly busy, so he wont be able to do his diagnosis on Nina for a bit. So, I am home again and very upset looking at her water and food bowl. I miss letting her out to go potty at 3 am! This house just feels so empty and I haven't swept up her hair since the day she left cause there is none.

And then there is my new friend I was telling you about that I have been trying to get ahold of for over a week. She had a mental breakdown and is in the hospital and her kids got taken away from her. This is a message she left on my cell. Don't know how long she has been in the hospital, but I am going to try and get into her condo to check on her cats.

We would still love all your prayers for our precious Nina.

I am home again sicker than a dog (no pun intended). I picked up Nina from the ICU at 6pm and she was again able to walk to the car. She was alert and not crying in pain. Her nose was cold to the touch and she was very antsy. Back to the ER. Her vet has changed a bunch of the meds and put her back on her steroids. I was so angry that the other vets weren't listening when I told them of the meds she was on and haven't been able to give her since Saturday. He explained that a lot of vets disagree with the steroids and her condition, but that she shouldn't have been abruptly cut off after being on them for 2 years. So again, I pick her up and she seems so much better only to go back to pick her up worse off tomorrow???? See the rollarcoaster here? I am sick, she is at deaths door and my girls continue to drive me insane. I am so tired! And my friend wont call me back, but her car is in the driveway. Should I call the police? What if I enter her condo and find her (I don't want to say it). I don't know who else to contact. Her kids have been taken from her. Apparently she is now an outpatient and she is not responding to my calls. What about her cats? Abandoned? God, I just don't know how much of this I can take!

Me and my girls want to say thank you again for all your prayers for Nina. They are truly needed right now.

NoHope--Honey,
If you have reason to believe (it sounds like you do) that your friend may indeed be inside the house and you are worried about her... Please call the police. They will go check on her.... all you have to do is let them know what's going on and that you fear for her well being and would like for them to check on her.

You, Nina, and your girls remain in my prayers.... I will also send up prayers for your friend!!!

Gentle hugs,
Abbie

WHAT!!!???? Nina was on prednisone for 2 years and abruptly stopped!!?? Oh no no, I don't think that's good at all. Long term use of prednisone has to be weaned from! I've been on long-term usage of prednisone several times for ulcerative colitis and you never just abruptly stop that stuff to my knowledge! Short term, like a 2-week burst and taper is entirely different.

I hope your doctor is getting Nina all squared away and continue to pray for her, bless her little heart!

Thank you everyone for your continued well-wishes and your prayers. Sorry, I've just completely withdrawn inside myself. Not looking for sympathy, looking for a miracle. This is now day 8 and Nina won't touch food. 8 days that I have shuttled her back and forth between the ER and ICU. The last 24 hours her health did not regress, but remained the same. However, she was much more mobile and alert. She is extremely week and still on fluids and antibiotics. Her regular vet has got her back on her prednisone and phenobarbitol. I have exhausted every food idea I have. I asked the vet if I could go get her a rotissere chicken from the store and pull off the skin. NO FATTY FOODS. Everything that Nina loves, I can't feed her. I have brought her deli meat, baby food, cooked chicken, hamburger and even steak. She wont touch anything. I am going to go pick her up from the ER in a little bit and I am going to bring her home and cook pork chops. I'll hop back on here to see if you people have any clever ideas for me that will be greatly appreciated while I have her home before I take her back to ICU. Thank you so much!

My friend is ok, well not mentally. I'll update later.

Have a great day!

I don't know if Nina would eat it but....

We had a dog that LOVED yogurt....

when we couldn't get her to eat anything else... she'd always eat yogurt.

Me and the girls went shopping for Alffe's and Abbie's ideas. We then packed a picnic lunch and went to get Nina from the ER. Not transporting her to the ICU today as they are only open till 4pm and then closed Easter. The ER unhooked her from her IV and let us take her for a walk in the grass. It's like close to 60 degrees today, sun is shinning and everything is in bloom, absolutely beautiful. We get a day like this and then a month of rain, no kidding! Normally we would be taking Nina to the doggy park or for long walks, so why not get her outdoors? Emma laid out a blanket on the grass and we kicked off our shoes and walked with Nina. She seemed much stronger today and walked with no issues. Teetered a couple times, but never collapsed. Then we sat down for our picnic. She gave quite a bit of attention to my pork chops, but still refused. Refused the yogurt and the chicken and beef bouillon I cooked seperatly. We spent probably an hour with her laying in the sun. She did drink water and actually had a normal poopy! Wonder where that came from, she hasn't eaten in 8 days! Took her back to ER.

We went shopping again and bought tofu (suggestion of one of the crew) and I got a New York steak and will cook it my way instead of the black angus from Quiznos yesterday. Since her last meal was with cottage chz a week ago today, I'm going to bring cottage cheese too. We will bring her these things when we tell her goodnight tonight.

I am praying for Nina. I know when my sweet Nala was so sick (cancer) she didn't want any of her favorites except Ice cream and yes I gave her all she wanted.

I also indulged her in raw filet mignon. what ever I thought she would like.

She left us a very content old girl.

I will continue to pray

Ahhhhhhhh I'm so sure you miss her:( I can't imagine life without my Nina now after all this family has been through.

I thank you so much for the prayers. I believe "the power of prayer" is why she is still with us. She is a ravenous girl now and back to her old tricks of trying to steal food from my girls at dinner. I want to give her everything she wants, but her vet is totally against it as once a pancreatic patient, always more prone to an attack. Her first almost cost her life. I would love to carry on the way we were, but I blame myself for the recently introduced flaxseed oil and cottage cheese to extend her quality of life from sarcoma cancer. After 11 days with no food, she is making up for lost time.

I would love to hold your grandbaby! So precious. My how time flies. Cherish the moment:) She is beautiful!
