Davids post to reyn got me to thinking about words and how we use and sometimes abuse them. I think we use them in an attempt to comfort and ease the pain of those we care about. But sometimes it's best just to be silent because words can hurt people....the best laid plans of mice and men my dad used to say. Or my mother would say, if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all.

What words am I trying to say? Words can't help when a heart is broken.
Words can't coax someone out of the darkness. That's what hugs are for.

And sometimes it's best to just listen...with an open heart. :grouphug:

Interesting article....
Makes a lot of sense to me...
I've dealt with this first hand...

I knew they didn't want to help me...

So...so true..

I was told by one nurse that the only way to deal with emotions was too "SUFFER IN SILENCE"

When i asked for painkillers three days after admittance to hospital, another nurse asked said " You hurt yourself so viciously, and now you want pain relief....tut tut [under her breath]

Another crass thing in the UK Is if yur under the influence of alcohol [no PSCH doctor will see you until you pass a breath test] as 90% of attempted suicide falls into this feild, the chances are most people will be in hosptial feeling the way they do, but not be seen too when they need it most.

I think there is a need for some sort of attendance of someone who can be empathetic on hand, even if its just to calm down an individual [plus to oversee they are treated with humane respect]

We really have a lot to learn about "helping" people...the article angered me.

Yes we do!

Speaks volumes as to why some people who really need help, go to er's get questioned by cold, uncaring people... just end up answering questions with untruthful answers because they feel they won't get the help they want or need....

basically give the answers they want to hear so I can get out of here and not deal with this bull... I'll deal with "it" on my own... In my own way.

I hope that makes sense.
