Hi Everyone..We had some nice days here this week, and was able to turn the heat off and open the windows! :D

My daughter went back to N Carolina on Tuesday..It was sad to see her leave..We went out for sushi on Monday..(you can tell shes a fishermans daughter)..at a Chinese restaraunt..I am not a huge fan of sushi, so I could have used a bit of tudoring..First things first..Throw the chop sticks away!!..The aint too Parkinsons friendly..:D..Then there was this glob of green stuff on my plate that looked like play dough..Not knowing what it was, I tried a piece of it..(What do I know?)..and Lord..I thought they was gonna have to give me CPR!..HOO WEE!!..Talk about spicy!..And thats what it was, some sort of hot spice that you mix with the soy sauce..My eyes lit up like a couple of Roman Candles!..Please dont try this at home folks! :D

We had our spring symposium today at the Marriot in Providence..The turnout was good, and the speakers focused on medications, and speech therapy..It was a success!..Its always good to mingle with my felllow parkies..Strength in numbers

Ive been getting the boat ready for another season..I borrowed some boat stands from a buddy of mine, and jacked the stern of the boat up with the boat on the trailor so that I could paint the bottom..I painted it yesterday afternoon, and I used a roller with an extention handle on it, so I didnt have to get underneath the boat, or get my hands dirty..Tomorrow I'll jack it back down and paint where the boat stands were, and concentrate on fixing a few other things..Im looking foward to going back out and get some exercise..I dont do well in the winter, because I hang around too much, and I firmly believe that working keeps me going..I believe that exercise is a bitter foe of Parkinsons, and probably as fierce a challenger as Sinemet..I feel that if I stopped fishing it wouldnt take long for pd to run me over

And finally, my favorite show "Deadliest Catch" premiered their new season this week..Woo Hoo!!..And the Biography Channel featured this new show called "Extreme Fisherman" which is about trawl fisherman in Scotland in the North Sea..That is the kind of fishing I used to do..but not in those kinds of weather conditions

How was your week?

Yup, just hanging around lurking.. I have a question for those of you who use Macs...I've tried to post a couple of times, but it kicks me out and says I'm not logged in!!! Does my system have a time limit on it somewhere that automatically logs me out? I don't have the problem at other sites, and never had it on my PC....whatzup with this??? (just switched to Mac from whatever my old PC was called ...IBM?) Can you tell I'm a computer idiot

rosebud, I didn't have any trouble on this site, but have with some others. I use the Safari browser, and I find that when a web page won't come up, I should check the drop-down menu from the word "Safari" next to the apple on the left end of the menu bar to see if "Private Browsing" or "Block Pop-up Windows are checked. I uncheck them, and then I choose Empty cache (History is unaffected by Empty Cache, and, still on the Safari drop-down, choose Preferences. Under the security tab there, I have checked "enable plug-ins," "enable Java," and "enable JavaScript." I don't have knowledge about this, I just tinker.

Also, on log-in, you have to check the box that tells the computer to remember you BEFORE you type in the password. At least I do.

Everyone,
I'm feeling better again, still treating the sinus problems leftover from the flu/bronchitis/sinus/weakness/poor med absorption game I've been playing since February. I am still beading and loving it.

Take care, all

Jaye

Hi, Steve, Joy and Jaye. I'm still perking along about the same as usual.
Steve, I would still like to go to RI and find out what conch trapping is all about. It appears that the NDI in New Haven is not continuing on the SPECT testing project, so my family will apparently not get another free ride to New England, so I would have to foot the bill if we made the trip...maybe in our little motor home? We are planning another Seattle trip in June. At $100-plus per gas fill-up, the "savings" of traveling in that manner are shrinking! We'll see.

Joy, I'm not a Mac person, and even though they are supposed to be more intuitive, I think i'm too old to change. Hope Jaye's tips help.

Jaye, great to hear you are feeling better.

Yes, it sure is getting expensive to travel, but let me know what you decide to do in the future

Hi Everyone:

Just got back from New York City where I was a participant in a PD trial. This one will end in October but I will have one or two more visits before then. I've asked them to consider me for another trial. We'll see what comes. If I can't get on a new trial I'll make up my own trial incorporating what I have learned from the literature and from this site. While in New York I got to see my Grandson who is 2 years old. He and his mother are planning to move to Maine in the Fall. My other daughter is already here. In July, the whole family will go to Cold River Camp in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It's the highlight of the year for me (living in an unheated, no electricity log cabin with the John more than 100 yards away and surrounded by the Forest and my family) and I love it.

All the best,

Lloyd

Thanks for the tip on signing in jaye... I'll try your suggestions..
Can't think of the name of the greeen stuff Steve..but if you eat enough of it your PD will pack it's bags and move out....we wish! It really clears the sinuses doesn't it? Robert, good to hear your still moving right along. If you ever cross the border into canada north of Seattle, come see me. I'm about 20 minutes from the US border crossing at Blaine Washington.
Burkle:shades of Henry D.T. & Walden - or am I confusing Henry Fonda and the movie On Waldens Pond.... the Parkie fog is getting thicker.
