Hello! It’s wonderful to be with all of you today for the 14th annual Parkinson’s Unity Walk. Thanks to Carol, Stacie and the whole Parkinson Alliance team for once again making this happen.

The Unity Walk means so much to our Foundation, and we love being able to come out and be part of this community of incredible people committing time, dollars, and good spirits to each other and to Parkinson’s research.

I was at the Unity Walk and heard Katie's speech first hand, and her words were striking. It has become obvious that, of all of the national organizations, only Fox sees the need for agitation and idealism. The rest are merely getting by without changing or challenging the landscape.

I am still hopeful that PDF will come through for us; they have some interesting and innovative projects they are working on, and have been good at seeking patient input. PAN has good leadership, but limits the voices of agitators and idealists.

Fox sets the standard. We will not realize a cure or a better quality of life in the meantime by adhering to the status quo, by taking the established road. We need pioneers and risk takers in positions of power.
