(See Curious, I didn't forget to remind him.)

I hope the melatonin works for you, Curious. Or has all your work on your web site tired you out??

Hey, has anyone seen where Idealist left that coconut bra? ;)

Idealist

Nice try, guy ...

"Yesterday was an incredible day for me, but it was too complicated for me to absorb until I get some sleep, let alone tell about it."

Now do you remember??

Curious
10-23-2006, 02:19 AM
and he did say he got some sleep...

hey..i sent you dinner. are you sure jessi didn't eat it? should have left a tell-tale sign of choccy brownie on her lips...

Idealist
10-23-2006, 02:19 AM
Was it really that incredible a day for you, Scrabble??? Tell me about it!!! Maybe then I'll remember...:p

It's too long for tonight, dears. Tell ya what, sometime tomorrow I'll come back here and leave a small...slight...abbreviated description of my craaazy friday. Or was it tuesday? Oh well...whatever part of it I can remember, anyway...:D

Idealist
10-23-2006, 02:21 AM
Methinks Miss Curious is avoiding a question from moi...???

~scrabble
10-23-2006, 02:25 AM
OK ........ it's a deal. :)

I'll look for your abbreviated description when I'm home from work tomorrow. Um, or maybe after my daughter's dentist appointment .... or, let's say after we eat our Far East Chicken dinner (it's marinating now) .... wait a minute ... maybe I'll be able to check in after my Hip Hop class .... Oh, yeah - I'm supposed to cleaning up my townhouse tomorrow night before the manager and owner come for a walk through for preventative maintenance on Tuesday. ~sigh~

~scrabble
10-23-2006, 02:25 AM
Yes, I noticed that ... and I'm just a bit curious about her story too. :p

Curious
10-23-2006, 02:37 AM
Tell me about Norfolk and Portsmouth, Curious. As I recall, there was some mention of you "embarrassing" yourself???

i wasn't avoiding this...it was the last post on page 1...i missed it.

and i answered it....hehe....cute girl with farrah faucett hairdo from california...visits va for a summer....summer of 75....nah didn't embarrass me..but my southern baptist deacon grandpa....well...:o he spent the summer shoo'ing those boys outta his barber shop....and me and my grandma sat on the upper balcany at church. grandpa was afraid those boys would try and look down my dress! guess he never thought up about me walking up the stairs in a short skirt. :p ;) :o

Curious
10-23-2006, 02:39 AM
night night me wonderful hoot hoot night owls. :D

my ole fumble fingers are all tuckered out. typing and re-typing. have a wonderful monday!!

Idealist
10-23-2006, 08:28 PM
I gotta be more careful about what I promise.

Oh, BTW Curious, sorry I missed ya in Norfolk. That was the same summer that I moved to VA from WVA, though. So in a way we were both "visiting" at the same time. I just stayed...;)

ANYWAY. Friday wasn't incredible, Scrabble. It was nuts. From my perspective anyway. First I went out for lunch with my Mom, and...my Dad went along...

Curious knows a little about my relationship with my Dad. We've talked about it before. Let's just say it ain't close. He hated watching football until I started watching it, and then he picked as his favorite team the one who was rivals with MY favorite team. In all my forty-four years of life I have NEVER had lunch with my Dad before.

And he went on his own. Offered to go. Wanted to go???...

He tried to pick an argument with me toward the end, but I didn't let him. I just changed the subject to something else and kept on grinnin' & eatin'.

Then, not so happily, I found out that a nephew of mine had gotten himself in some trouble with the law. Nothing mean or ugly...there ain't a mean bone in the boy's body...but stupid. And serious enough that he has to do some weekends in jail for it. I won't say what he did, but it was REALLY 99% just a huge mistake on his part.

Okay, so I'm trying to absorb that, and then my son gets home from school. And HE'S in trouble, too. Not with the law, or even the school. Far worse...with his Mama. I've tried and tried to teach the boy that there are three things you don't do to Mama:

Don't make her mad. That's bad.

Don't embarrass her. That's worse.

Don't SCARE her. That's a death sentence...

Poor kid. His Mama, and HER Mama, sat up in the living room half of friday night planning out his punishment. It still ain't over. What he did was wrong, but not unexpected for a teenager. But he's seventeen, and now he's being punished not only for what he did friday, but for the fact that he peed on his sister when he was three. And ran over a flower with the mower. And has curly, unmanageable hair...

I've been trying to defend him some, but...I ain't stupid.

Okay...then to finish the day. I got the pleasure of hearing my fourteen year old girl tell a boy that "she loves him" over the phone. For the first time. Sigh...

I was so tuckered out by friday night you wouldn't believe it, but I was a fool to think I might get any sleep...:D

Curious
10-23-2006, 08:59 PM
hehe..so i ain't the only nut around here. :D

now you just tell your son that he will have a wopper of a story to tell his son about his grandma and great grandma. :p and lots of words of wisdom...what not to do to **** either of them off!

cheers buddy. me thinks you might need a shot of something in your hot ovaltine tonight!

and boy howdy did i have a stunner of phone call tonight.

you do know that is was on the calandar friday..."wobble idealist brain day".:p

Idealist
10-23-2006, 10:13 PM
I hope it was a good "stunner", Curious...

So it was YOU who planned that whole thing out, huh? I knew it couldn't be coincidence...four impossible things in one day...:p

Tricky monkeys...;)

Boy, I sure wish that silly-face icon wasn't so pink. I love the little thing, but as a guy...does it have to be such a PINK shade of PINK???

Curious
10-23-2006, 10:25 PM
yes..because it is easier to embarrass guys. :p

Curious
10-23-2006, 10:27 PM
it was a stunner....let's just say ( on an open forum ) that this news might just actually allow my x to be a grandfather to grandmonkey. and to work on his relationships with his kids. ;)

~scrabble
10-23-2006, 11:13 PM
Idealist,

Well, I'm sorry to read that your 'incredible Friday' was not incredible in a good way. :( (<------ the purple guy is kinda cute)

Good for you for not letting your Dad start an argument with you! :)

I hope things won't be too miserable for your son with whatever the punishment ends up being for him. I know about teenage boys and grounding.

You really did deserve to get some sleep after all that happened on your Friday!

I just got home from my Hip Hop class  and I was glad to see my kids made dinner as per my instructions. My daughter had already left for her Jazz class when I got in and I briefly saw my son as he left for his soccer practice. So I had a quiet dinner alone. Far East Chicken, Red Thai rice and broccoli. I bought a fieldberry pie but I think I'll wait for the kids to return so we can maybe have some dessert together. I guess I should go tackle the mess in the kitchen!

Oh, tonight my Hip Hop teacher was away and his sub was my daughter's dance instructor. Man, she sure is fit! After the adult Hip Hop class at my Recreation Centre she was off to the dance studio to teach my daughter's Jazz class.

~scrabble
10-23-2006, 11:14 PM
Curious,

with not knowing much about your situation ... I'm not sure what to think of your phone call .... but I hope it is a good thing if it comes through.

Curious
10-24-2006, 12:05 AM
guess you could say that cinderella's step-mother looks like glynda the good witch compared to my kids step-mother. :o she hadn't "allowed" my x to have anything to do with grandmonkey. :( pretty darn sad when we all go to bubbamonkeys soccer games.

Idealist
10-24-2006, 01:48 AM
Curious, I think that's wonderful. Great. Fantastic! I know it was just the first phone call, but I sure hope it all goes forward the best...

Scrabble, sorry I missed ya. You sound tired, though, so I hope you're sleeping right now. Man, that dinner you had sounds good. I gotta learn how to cook...

~scrabble
10-24-2006, 02:43 AM
Not sleeping yet ....

Gosh, October is almost over ... I'm looking forward to that extra hour this weekend with Daylight Savings. :)

So, do you think you'll be able to get some decent sleep tonight? I hope so. :)

I think I'll go strip my bed and put on my cozy flannel sheets tonight ...

~scrabble
10-24-2006, 10:22 AM
Well, I enjoyed my sleep, in cozy flannel sheets, after a quick soak in the tub with Calgon 'English Garden'. Even though it was short sleep, I feel I got some quality rest. I hope you did too. :)

I just saw this: http://www.thedashmovie.com/ and I thought it was a good way to start my day. It was posted by Birdbomb in "On the Lighter Side".

I hope today is a good day for everyone ......... >>>>>>>>cya! :D

Idealist
10-24-2006, 06:08 PM
Scrabble, you sound like such a sophisticated person. In a good way...:D

I'm glad you slept so well. Actually...so did I! Like a baby. Best night of sleep I've had in months. And boy, was it due!

I also ate a great supper last night. Was actually hungry...

The link was spectacular. The images definitely, but especially the poem. I'm glad I took the time to look at it. It's so true.

Curious, as far as I know, I've never done that. I just want to be extra-careful-sure KWIM?...;)

Still waiting to hear more good news about the good news, girl...:)

Where did Kell-Bell go...

Curious
10-24-2006, 06:12 PM

Idealist

Yeah, you. Don't you mean "moi"...;)

Hey, Scrabble!!! How'd the walk-through go?

~scrabble
10-24-2006, 10:11 PM
It didn't happen! LOL

The manager had left a form for me to fill out and then attached a note saying the owner was going to only pick 30 out of 72 units to walk through. So they didn't pick up the form, which means they weren't here and I'm supposed to deliver the form to the office instead.

Oh well ........ c'est la vie.

Hoot! Hoot! Ain't seen many night owls around lately.

Sure would hate to see you gals with a box of crayons...

Or worse yet, finger-paints...

Scrabble, I don't know whether to say congrats on the walk-through or sorry... You didn't have to go through it, but do you still get your sink fixed???

Ya'll take care now, ya hear?

Curious
10-25-2006, 01:48 PM
idealist....it's daytime. :p

hoot hoot

so who do you think would be the sharpest in the box? :p

Curious
10-25-2006, 01:52 PM
oh hey...i think the melatonin is helping. it's melatonin plus made by schiff. the bottle says for stress relief and a sounder sleep. it also has b-6 and l-theanine. i got 4 hours sleep before waking up. :D

Idealist
10-25-2006, 01:52 PM
I don't know about the sharpest, Dear...but I can see YOU drawing with the wrong end...

Curious
10-25-2006, 01:56 PM
:) ;) :( :D  :p

hehe...i DO use the flat end. makes nice little circles...

Idealist
10-25-2006, 07:51 PM
You probably peel off the paper and use the sides, too, don'tcha???

And VA owls don't get lost. THEY know that the only two directions that really matter are up and down...:D

~scrabble
10-25-2006, 09:37 PM
Whoo-whoo! :)

Can I be one of the brightest crayons?? :D

Don'tcha know that using the sides of crayons is how you can make good leaf pictures by shading with the crayon when a leaf is under the paper?
:p

There sure are a lot of pretty coloured leaves around now ... Some are crunchy under my feet but, it has been raining today so that changes the sound.

I don't mind that my place didn't get the walk-through ... AS LONG AS my sink still gets replaced! My living space looks better and that's always a good thing.

I'm glad the melatonin seems to be helping you, Curious. :)

I just bought a new CD to fall asleep to. It has ocean sounds in the background of the music and I find that peaceful and calming.

Well, I just got home after a long day ... ~sigh~ and I think I should get myself some dinner.

cya! ;)

Idealist
10-25-2006, 10:17 PM
Make sure you don't play that CD in the car, Scrabble...

Well, if YOU'RE happy about the no-walkthrough, then congrats!!! And don'tcha know, you already ARE one of the brightest crayons. Certainly brighter than this ol' hoot-owl brown one here...:D

Hope you enjoy your "dinner" dear. 'Round here we eat supper. Sophisticated ladies... You better laugh...:)

Now I wonder where that ol' curious Texas-owl-thingie has flown off to this time.

And I'm still waiting for Kell-Bell to do her "Poof" thing and reappear...:p

Yesterday I was wiped out when I got home from work. My kids were at their dad's house so I had a cat nap on the couch. When I went to bed I still feeling very tired and again, I don't remember hearing much of the CD because I fell asleep quite quickly. Pilates - (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

The Pilates Method (sometimes simply Pilates) is a physical fitness system that was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates.

Pilates called his method Contrology, which refers to the way the method encourages the use of the mind to control the muscles. It is an exercise program that focuses on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and strengthen the deep torso muscles, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back pain.

Instead of performing many repetitions of each exercise, Pilates preferred fewer, more precise movements, requiring control and form. He designed more than 500 specific exercises. The most frequent form, called "matwork," involves a series of calisthenic motions performed without weight or apparatus on a padded mat. He believed that mental health and physical health were essential to one another. Pilates created what is claimed to be a method of total body conditioning that emphasizes proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement (The Pilates Principles) that results in increased flexibility, strength, body awareness, energy, and improved mental concentration.

Idealist,

Sounds like your daughter enjoyed being dressed up.

My daughter was invited to a 'Black & White Murder on the Runway' birthday party in September. She loved trying on all kinds of dressy dresses with the birthday girl, and the other mom and I had fun watching them. My daughter ended up with a black dress with white polka dots. It was fitted on top and then flared out from the waist to about her knees. She was at her dad's house the weekend of the birthday party but she came over to my house so I could put her hair up .... and take photos of her, of course!

We really did Idealist...there were so many planned activities...someone was always cooking us food....we even went to an oyster roast at a gentlemans house on the marsh....had a 50 ft. long screened in porch and a band at one end! He cooked us crabs, clams shrimp, and oysters. We watched the sunset from Dockside on Friday night...(that's a restaurant with shrimpboats docked outside) and on Monday the groom cooked for all of us.....he's a fabulous cook.

Mr.Alffe and I are going back down there for two weeks in January to warm up and see the sun.

Yes, the 'Black & White' party that my daughter went to was a lot of fun. The guests had to answer a questionaire beforehand and then they were given info about the role they would be playing in the 'murder'. Cool idea.

Have you bought a pumpkin or 2? I have one that I ended up stashing in my backyard instead of by my front door, after I saw a smashed pumpkin in my area. I've been hearing fireworks in the neighbourhood and some people have Halloween decorations out.

Idealist
10-29-2006, 08:46 PM
All the night-owls been busy the past few nights...;)

What ya'll been up to???

I think those pumpkin smashers are just awful mean, Scrabble. Me & the kids usually go to a lot of trouble to carve out our fancy-faced pumpkins, and if someone comes along and decides to smash it just on a lark I'm gonna be fuming...

But living in the country the way I do, at least I know that's not likely...:)

Hey Curious, I think I've got a bunch of bananas around here somewhere...:D

~scrabble
10-29-2006, 09:19 PM
Living in the country, I guess you won't get nearly as many trick-or-treaters as I do .... The kids around here just flock to our townhouses because there are so many homes and our front doors are quite close together. We can easily get over 200 kids .......

I've had a rather lazy weekend ... but I did get the laundry all caught up.

I'm fighting a sore throat today :(

How are all of you doing??

Idealist
10-29-2006, 09:46 PM
You're right, Scrabble. We'll be lucky if we get a dozen...:p But I don't care, I love it anyway. It just means I can give each one of them lots more candy, and still have some left over for me...;)

I haven't done much myself this weekend. A little of this, a little of that. I spent most of today working on my other computer. The one the kiddos use all the time. Seems like they've been clicking the monkey a lot lately (no pun intended, Curious...:p ) and the computer was loaded with adware and spyware to the point it would hardly work. I found and deleted several hundred. Phew!!! But it's working great now, so at least I accomplished something.

~scrabble
10-29-2006, 10:38 PM
Yes, it does feel good to get rid of a bunch of stuff that has been slowing things down with your computer. Mine (*knock on wood) has been doing quite well so I'm glad. I think I had more problems with the last ISP.

My son stopped by today (as he's at his dad's house for a few days) so he could get himself organized to go to a Halloween party. He's dressing up as The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. He'll be wearing my black and green striped witch's hat - complete with long, bright green hair attached under the hat; a lion mask; and a torn t-shirt with hangers hanging from it! :D

Time for tea ... to soothe my throat ....

Idealist
10-30-2006, 01:47 PM
How was your tea, Scrabble? What kind of tea do you drink? Regular, herbal? I pretty much like them all. Have you ever heard of one called "Nutcracker-Sweet"? Yum-yum...:) And I like all the ones with fruity flavors, too.

Hey...I ain't as much of a country hick as I make out to be sometimes...;)

~scrabble
10-30-2006, 03:01 PM
Hi Idealist,

The tea was good, but my sore throat got worse overnight so I didn't go to work today.

I have quite the collection of tea ... regular (Earl Grey, Chai Spice and Constant Comment are favourites), herbal (fruity mixes, lavender, peppermint, camomile ...) and caffeine free (green tea, apple cinnamon, Ginger Snappish, ...). Would anyone like a cup?? Just pick a flavour! :D

I'm not sure if I've had Nutcracker Sweet .. I know I've had different teas at Christmas though ......

I think I'll go back to bed for a nap ........

~scrabble
10-30-2006, 11:32 PM
I'm still working on-call but, the 3 week job I had at one school was over on Friday .... and I'm relieved. I was working with a physically dependant student in a class with 3 other physically dependant students and it was taking its toll on me. It is hard to actually call it a classroom when there are no desks, just hospital beds, and my job was more like nursing than educating. Anyway, I'm still hoping to obtain a regular job in one school because working in different schools each day is tiring. (*fingers crossed for more job postings this week)

The nap did help this afternoon. I then went out to buy some groceries ... and sushi for my dinner. yum! (I gotta look after myself when there isn't anyone else around to do it ...) My kids are back with me tomorrow after school, for about 10 days.

How are things with you? Are you and your family ready for Halloween? I found my string of Halloween lights - round yellow disks with black cats on them - and I hung them in my kitchen window. Now I really need to carve that pumpkin and get my bones to bed....

:)

Idealist
10-30-2006, 11:37 PM
We're not doing so well this year in the "getting-ready" department. We usually make a bigger deal out of Halloween. But I still haven't fully recovered from my surgery, even though it's been three weeks and I should be fine now. Mysterious...

I thought you got a call about returning to your old full-time job? What came of that?

~scrabble
10-30-2006, 11:44 PM
I did get a call last week... and the Spec. Ed. Dept. Head told me he would call me again with more details by the end of the week. Well, he didn't call me so I tried to reach him after work on Friday. He had gone for the weekend then so I just let it be. This afternoon he did call again and he told me that he had specifically requested me but I didn't get the Automated Dispatch call this morning. (Plus I stayed home with my sore throat.) So he said I should get the call to go in tomorrow and that there will be a job posted which I can apply for soon. (So right now it would be a temp. position until someone is hired.) ......... Are you with me so far?? ......... LOL!

I got a dispatch call tonight ... to go to a different high school so I didn't accept the job (just for tomorrow) and I left a message at Human Resources to see if they can look into why I haven't been called to the school that has requested me. So .... I'll have to wait and see what happens in the morning. The dispatch calls start at 6:30 am.

Thanks for asking!

How are things going for you since your surgery? I hope things are getting better for you.

~scrabble
10-30-2006, 11:47 PM
I brought my pumpkin inside from the backyard this afternoon to warm up ... but I just checked and it is still very cold. I'm NOT looking forward to sticking my hands in cold pumpkin slim .... but, I do want to save the seeds so I can roast them ....

Idealist
10-30-2006, 11:59 PM
I've never tried roasted pumpkin seeds. Are they good?

Yeah, I think I followed that okay. Sounds like some of the doctor appointments I've had to set up at times...LOL. Pretty complicated. It must be difficult sometimes to keep up with all the different places you have to go for work, huh? But it still sounds like a very rewarding job to me. I wouldn't mind doing something like that at all.

I'm okay since the surgery, it's just that all the poking around seems to have "stirred the pot" a little too much. I'm actually in sooo much better shape now than I was a year ago, but it has taken a huge amount of work to get here. The surgery seems like it has set me back a month or two, that's all. So now I have to recover that "lost ground".

I've slept well for a whole week now! And that's the first time that's happened in months for me. Like a whole new world. I can THINK! Well, what I call thinking, anyway...LOL

~scrabble
10-31-2006, 12:24 AM
CCCcccccold hhhhands!!

Great news about the sleep! Yes, I know what it feels like to finally get sleep after too long with very little, broken sleep. Sleep deprivation is not good at all.

My work is rewarding ... just frustrating about having been laid off at the end of last school year in June. I've been doing this work for about 3 years and I've worked at over 50 schools in my city. (And it has been over 4 years since I had a car ....)

Well, I'm just taking a short break to warm my hands a bit. I have most of the seeds out of the pumpkin .... but still more slime to sift my fingers through to pull the rest out. I do like pumpkin seeds and I buy them already shelled at the Health Food store but, freshly roasted seeds are the best. I have to rinse them and then spread them on a jelly roll pan. Sprinkle on a bit of salt and then keep an eye on them in the oven so they don't get too dark. I'll stir them a few times while they are roasting and that's it.

Curious

what kinda face are you going to carve scrabble? we are doing ours after school tomorrow.

we had sooo many kids last year. i'm hoping i get swamped again. :D got my scary sounds cd...my costume...

can you beleive i bought NO choccy to give out? filled treat bags with all that fun school supply stuff mom's never let their kids have. glitter pencils, pens, funky shaped erasers, markers that smell like fruit, stickers and since a friend of ours owns a local ice cream shop..coupons for a free cone..oh...and a free month of kid classes at the club. :p

grandmonkey has had the hardest time picking out his costume. it has been something different every day. he already has a huge box of costumes and masks. hehehe...but he found one at the dollar store that was hands down his fave.......and boy was this a typical "little brother" type of choice....

As for the chocolate, that's funny. You ain't the first choccy lover I've heard say that today. Seems some people are afraid they won't be able to CONTROL themselves, and might scarf it all up before the trick-or-treaters arrive...

Okay...so what was his fave??? You gonna tell us???

hehe..made ya'll wait. :p

he found a silly goofy face...with braces to tease brace face lil'monkey!! he even wore it to her ortho appointment today! LOL

nope...no crayons...in texas ya never know..it could be 100 degrees.

come on over scrabble! bring your seeds! i roast mine too.

i'm a weirdo i guess...shhh...i heard that idealist! ;) but i sit and eat popcorn while i hand out candy. last year i had out my popcorn machine ( same kind the movies have) and handed out popcorn too. it helps that we are known in town. so the parents aren't afraid of the snacks from us. even had coffee for the parents, since it was rainy last year.

oh...i have a circle driveway..so i set up and sit outside. no ringing the doorbell. but still fun. this year i have spooky music. :D

Curious

Yes, well, some of us who buy our chocolate treats ahead of time ... do end up having to buy more ...

But, hey ... I had to taste 'em and make sure they were good enough to hand out! (Mini Snickers, Aero bars, peanut M & M's, Smarties, Crunchies, Crispy Crunch, Coffee Crisp, Twix, Kit Kat, Wonder bars, ...) When I went back to buy more.... I bought licorice, Sweedish Berries and gummy Lifesavers.

I like your idea of eating popcorn and I think I'll have to pop some tomorrow too. It is getting cold here - not much above freezing - so I'll probably stay inside, close to my door. At least there isn't rain in the forecast ...

Curious, did you read (a couple pages back) about my son's costume for a Halloween party on the weekend? He is 16 and he was dressing up as the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - all together.

Idealist
10-31-2006, 01:18 AM
Suggestions??? Gee...how 'bout just taking off the mask and bein' a monkey...:D I wanna see those pics when ya get 'em. I don't get to dress up this year...boo-hoo. I got a call from the doc's office a while ago, and he wants me to come in tomorrow evening for some reason I have no idea about...

I hope I make it home in time to catch at least SOME of the fun.

Curious

we had a little rain tonight. boy was grandmonkey upset! i had to unplug all the stuff outside. i have a huge blowup, a projector that shows on the house, red spot lights ( ok...they are really for christmas, but they do give a spooky blood red ambiance...lol)

but not cold! i don't do cold..visit it once in awhile. :)

OK .... Jack's out back, chillin' ....

He has evil eyes and a goofy, jagged sneer. :D

Slime is cleaned up, I ate the pumpkin cut-outs (except for the skin), garbage is out and hidden from pranksters.

Time for me to hit the hay ....

g'night!

10-31-2006, 01:39 AM
No, I didn't see it ... (I don't get the paper) ...

Funny you should ask though, because that is the one comic that my Mom always saves from her paper and then she mails me a stack of them from where she lives, in another province!

I have my 'candy corn' earrings ready and I'm not sure what I'll wear to work tomorrow. It helps to know where I'm working cuz I might choose to wear something different to an elementary school than to a high school ... but then again, maybe not ...

;)

Idealist
10-31-2006, 01:49 AM
Yeah, that's about it...and then of course afterward he had these HUGE red circles on his chest....:p Then his wife says: "I told you not to use REAL coconuts!"

I hope you slept well, Idealist.

Are you home from your appointment?

The trick-or-treaters have just started coming to my door.

I think I'll get some photos of our 3 jack-0-lanterns, just in case they don't last ...

cya!

Yeah, I slept pretty good last night. And I got the dr appointment over with this evening. Seems he basically wanted me to come in so he could weigh me...:p I've lost seven more pounds since my last visit.

So it actually turns out pretty cool. I now have a doctor's note telling me to eat all the pizza, chocolate ice-cream and other yummy stuff I can handle...:D Ain't that neat? But he wants me to put on fifteen pounds in the next month... I don't see how I'm ever gonna do that!

Curious, you in a cooking mood dear???

I don't know why, but the whole visit tickled me. I couldn't stop laughing about it, so the doc must've thought I had a screw loose. I mean, don't get me wrong. I know that very low body mass can be a serious problem...he warned me that I might start having black-outs & stuff soon if I don't reverse the trend. But he also gave me a prescription, and it just seemed weird to me to be taking pills to PUT ON weight. Ain't it supposed to work the other way around?...

I guess the timing was good, though. All this yummy Halloween candy laying around. As soon as the kiddos heard that I had a drs note to eat their candy, though, it all just kinda suddenly disappeared...

So how is ya'lls Halloweens turnin' out? Any good stories yet???

~scrabble
10-31-2006, 11:04 PM
By 7:15 pm I had run out of candy ... I went through 250 treats in just over an hour! whew!

~scrabble
10-31-2006, 11:08 PM
So I blew out the candles in our jack-o-lanterns, turned off my Halloweeen cat lights in the window and left a sign on my door: "Sorry, we ran out of candy after 250 kids" - I'm hoping the kids understand and don't pull pranks on my home.

My daughter went out as a duck with her 2 girlfriends - who were dressed as football players with big, padded shoulders. They made a cute trio!

My son was going to meet his girlfriend and he left the house with fuzzy black cat ears and a tail hanging below his jacket. I offered to put some whiskers on his face but he said 'no thanks'.

I had some cute little elephants, panda bears, puppies and princesses come to my door ... but my favourite was a tiny little guy dressed in scrubs with a sign on his chest that said "Doctor in Training". He had a surgical cap on and a stethoscope around his neck. But the best part was when he came up to my door with a treat held up high in his hand and he smiled at me and said "Mine!" So I said, "and here is another treat just for you" and his little eyes bulged! Priceless! :D

I'm glad your appointment went well and that you were amused. Have you lost your appetite ... and that's why you've lost the weight?

Definitely not the usual doctor's note!

I only remember once when a doctor told me I needed to gain some weight ... and that was when I was pregnant. :D I had been feeling queasy, I had a one-yr old to run after ... and I was exhausted. I had actually lost 2 or 3 pounds but I started gaining by the next appt.

Idealist
11-01-2006, 02:51 PM
Well, I hate to say this, 'cause I've heard it makes some people mad...

But the truth is I just often forget to eat. :p I'm not a big eater anyway, but lately I only eat once a day, and that's usually not much. A sandwich maybe, or a hotdog. Before my condition started my normal weight was 167 pounds. Now I weigh 135. And the doc says it's all bone and lean muscle, so I need to gain some essential fats.

So on the way home from the doc's yesterday evening I stopped and picked up some fried chicken for dinner...:D That oughta help a little, anyway.

Curious

add ensure or boost.

it will take time to gain healthy weight. if you put it on too fas by just eating fattening food..honey you will have a love handle big enough for all us women on night owls.

hoot hoot

you know i can help you with nutrition. :p andnot just by adding more choccy to your diet. what rx did yu get? you can pm me if you don;t want to post it. my dad has to take an rx. he would be skin and bones by now if he didn't.
