Bras and Breast Cancer

Have any of you heard of this before? There might be something to this because my husband bought me a bunch of new bras last fall. They are very pretty and fit very well, but they are the "push-up" type.

There seems to be plenty of room and they don't hurt at all, until I take it off. When I take it off, my breasts are very sore and tender.

I developed a huge lump last February. My doc thought it was cancer, but it was just a cyst. A surgeon was able to drain it, but it came back. My breast is STILL excruciatingly sore from having it drained. Now, I have SEVERAL large and painful lumps in BOTH breasts.

My breasts are fibrocystic to begin with, but I have NEVER had such a problem before. I can't afford to go back to my doc because I still owe him and the surgeon money from my visit in February.

I have heard that before. Especially the part about how the constriction restricts lymph flow and the bra also raises the temp of the breasts. I can tell the temp is higher when I take that bra off.

Dont laugh but each night after I take my bra off when I get home I do some exercises and move em around to get things flowing around those areas.

Underwires can make mine uncomfortable as well. I just got a bunch of new bras and was fitted for them and it makes a difference.

I read that chocolate and Sodas can aggravate fibrocyctic breasts. Also that hormones imbalances can contribute to it as well.

coffee /caffeine too -
I had a fluid type cyst 20 yrs ago :o and stopped coffee for a time and it went away.
I drink coffee now, and haven't had any other cysts - but don't wear any under wire bras - just because I don't like them.

comfy loose clothes and exercise style bras only for moi:o

I had a painful cyst some years back and switched from regular bras on advice of my doc. also do everything possible to be as unrestricted as possible in the heat and humidity of the swamp down here as I know I feel the effect if I dont!

I've had fibrocystic breasts since the age of 11. Mammo's since then too. One abnormal mammo five years ago, lumps still there, too little to biopsy. I wear a bra 24/7 because going without one hurts so bad. THEN I see this report on the TV. Great, wouldn't you know they say it's not a proven thing but those who wear bras 24/7 are at a greater risk? Yeah! Of course as I took off my bra Jim was smiling. :o :rolleyes:

Interesting thread :) I can definitely relate to that sore tender feeling when I take my bra off at night. I'll have to think about switching to non-wired bras. :rolleyes:
