Herpes and Neurological Symptoms

Does anyone know if an out of control herpes break out could cause Neurological symptoms like memory problems, fine motor skills impairment, slurring, uncoordination and generalized muscle weakness?

typically there would be fever and headache with a generalized
herpes event.

When herpes goes nuts like that it usually implies a poor immune system.

L-Lysine, an amino acid, inhibits herpes virus reproduction I think and so prevents flareups and also can shorten duration of existing flare, especially if taken at first sign

I would think that herpes does impact much neurologically as I believe the virus resides in ganglia?

Someone dear to me has just recently discovered that she has genital herpes. The pain that she has endured through this first outbreak has been incredible. As someone very close to her I have been reading a bit about it...what you guys are saying here is frightening!
She has much stress in her life and now this makes it wosre! She is young and she thought she had her 1st yeast infection...not. We had to go to emerge because she was so swollen and in so much pain....they tried to cathderm her but the swelling was too much....ice packs helped the swelling and she was able to go pee but was in terrible pain each time.
Now that she knows what it is and has meds for it it is getting better slowly!! I did not know that alot of people have it..I was shocked when I found out! She will be starting at a clinic for STDs and councelling as well. I pray that all goes well for her as we are extremely close and it would kill me to have her go thr any more than he has aready!

I understand how frightening it can be when first diagnosed. The truth is though that anywhere from 1in 4 to 1 in 3 people have it. The first time is incredibly painful. Something that helped me was taking a very hot bath and then drying with a hairdryer on low. That gives temporary relief while the prescriptions are working. The upside is that by and large it will be very obvious to her when an outbreak is going to happen so she can start the Rx right away and the pain will never be as bad again. It does suck big time to have to live with it the rest of your life, but it could be much much worse. If your friend would feel better talking to someone else who has been through it. I am happy to support her as much as possible on here.

A friend of mine, who has MS and is diabetic, has outbreaks that will cause her MS to flare. She's found that it's important to keep the Herpes under control by taking daily medication (Valtrex), not just when she feels an outbreak coming on.

This Thursday is the day the this person so close to me will be attending her 1st sexual health clinic...I hope all goes well for them...her boyfriend is going as well.
I think she will need some councelling...she is an emotional rollercoaster right now...full full of questions and fears.:(

Well things went OK at the clinic for my special friend. She has got plenty of info...and an Rx so she will be ready for the next outbreak. I feel so bad about all of this...emotionally it is so difficult for her. She is afraid that if her and her present boyfriend ever break up that no one will ever want her or love her. I reassure her that she may feel that way right now but people do have relationships and get married who have herpes. Just so heartbreaking:(

Please let her know that I know how she feels. It is stressful meeting new people b/c you really don't know how people will react. Most of the guys I have dated since my Dx have been surprisingly kind and understanding, but truthfully not everyone knows enough about it to not freak out. My way of dealing with it is putting it out there right up front. Kind of get it out of the way. That way I don't waste time or heartache on the wrong guy. I have met my future husband that way and we have a very special bond. Life is not over - it's just a little different.

She is doing OK...trying to stay stress free!! All of the scabs from her 1st outbreak are finally gone and I think she is worried as to when the next one will be.:hug:
