I've been using Stevia for years. It's a whole lot healthier than Aspartame.
I use Splenda (because who on earth can afford Stevia). I just purchased seven boxes of Stevia packets from Puritan's Pride for $2 and change for each box, but they are on back order (because the whole world jumped on the price).
So while I wait for my Stevia Delivery, I'll simply continue to use Splenda.
However, guess what is coming to town (don't know when), but I'm watching!!!
Look at what I just found in my WEB MD email:

Mel, do you notice any digestive and other negative effects from the splenda(sucralose)?
we all get digestive yucks from it and it also triggers neurological stuff for my son and hubby.........quite a lot of reports of that around.

Well, I actually don't know. I don't see any neurological stuff. Lately, I've been constipated but I don't use that much (not like Alan who puts 5 packets in his cup of tea).
I use maybe two packets a day, and I do drink Crystal Light (the one with the Splenda).
I would think that if one is having gastro stuff going on (like I had with the Metformin), then I'd be in the bathroom all day. That's why I quit the metform.
What kind of gastro stuff does it do to you all??
And this is why I'm delighted that Truvia will soon hit the shelves. It has NO SIDE EFFECTS WHATSOEVER.
Wouldn't that be great for us diabetics??

the digestive stuff we noticed was cramping and a bloated feeling plus that "liverish" yuckiness...like when one eats food that is too rich.
there is a lot of info on it being not safe, especially as it seems FDA approved it without human studies

Dr Mercola's site is full of anti sucralose stuff and he has even written a book on its dangers Sweet Deception
plus Dr Hull has a new book out on it's potential for harm

Well, I have to use SOMETHING in my coffee. Maybe I should just use a teaspoon of sugar instead??
I cannot wait until my packets of Stevia come in the mail. And the day that Truvia is on the market.
I only hope they don't blend it with other stuff. Like Acelfum (whatever the heck that sweetner is).

I'll have to check out these links. DH is managing his pre-diabetes with splenda. I use it for everything except baking. I use it myself on my cereal and drinks because it is here.
