I'm curious to know how you deal with missed med times.
1. take regular meds as soon as you realize you've missed taking your meds on time, then let whatever happens happen.
2. Take an extra "little bit" to make up for the screw up and hope you maintain the status quo.
3. Stick to your med schedule, skip this dose and wait till the next scheduled dose.
4.Mull the situation over i your head and try to figure out what option is the best.
5. Other...please enlarge on your reasoning.
I'm on a two hour schedule and try to stay as close to it as possible..But...you know how it goes. (actually thats the dilemma! Just how will it go?)

Hi Rosebud,
# 1 usually does it for me but I am still on a 4 hour schedule.

Number 1 (as I am on a four hour schedule). Can I ask how long you have been on a two hour schedule, was it recommended to you and is it common?

2 hr schedule...#1.
I can't wait...I would inevitably suffer dystonia.

31/2 - 4 hours
I take them when I realize I'm late and just count from there. Four hours works if I'm rested and not stressed, etc. but sometimes I have to go with 31/2 - like when I want to be able to finish shopping AND exit the grocery store.

I appreciate your input. I find once I screw my schedule up, it's never quite right for the rest of the day.
Dorothy: when you said "go grocery shopping AND exit" I assume you mean with your groceries...LOL Boy, can I relate to that one!
I haven't increased my meds for a long time (oops, I did increase my mirapex a bit..thats when I started buying lots of shoes) I have not increased my sinemet for a long time and prefer not to, but missing my schedule by more than 15 minutes will cause my medication to go off and can take the better part of 3 hours to get up to speed again. Yes I take CR, and I can jump start by drinking a coke, or chewing up half of another, but I pay for it by becoming dyskinetic. I HATE being dyskinetic because it affects my jaw and I cannot speak. (Well, I can speak but I sound like I've got a rubber chicken in my mouth!)

You guessed it, Rosebud - exit with my groceries. I've been known to spend long periods of time seemingly absorbed in food labels, hoping the new dose would kick in so I could get the heck out of the store with some measure of grace! These fun little challenges....

It's every 3 hours for me plus the CR at night. This works pretty well until I skip a dose. When that happens, I adjust my schedule accordingly. This does as you mentioned affect how I feel the rest of the day. My skips happen usually because I've taken a nap or slept late in the morning.
While travelling this seems to become worse particuarly with the time-zone changes. This week I've gone from Eastern to Mountain to Central back to Mountain, and now in Central only to go back to Mountain time on Sunday. Then finally back to Eastern where I started. My schedule got so far off, I ended up taking a Parcopa the other morning to straighten things out. Ghis helped tremendously, but I'm afraid to increase the medication more than I should even though my doctor said I could if needed.

#1 for me also. I used to take a 25/250 every 2 hours, along with 4.5 of mirapex, 300 of amantadone and 600(??)of Tasmar per day. if I missed by 15 minutes I Was messed up for hours afterwards. I had right side akinesia, severe dystonia and festination.
IF I tried to "catch up", the result was bouncing off the walls dyskinesia.
Now thanks to my DBS I have been off PD meds for almost 7 years now. With no akinesia, festination, dystonia or dyskinesia. I only have balance issues at times now.
I am a happy camper!

so good to hear there is at least one happy camper out there. I hope you appreciate how "blessed" you are to have had such good DBS results.
