we already have a selling on eBay thread, but I thought it might be helpful for those who are considering starting some form of online sales to have some ideas of other online selling venues, apart from one's own website, (which is always a plus)

A great place to "get your feet wet" is www.ioffer.com

Listing is *absolutely* free of fees:p and commission on sales is very low compared with FeePay errr sorry eBay ;)

also, once you list just one item, you can open your own free store....again no monthly fees etc

another fun thing about iOffer is that it is a marketplace where you can sell for fixed price, accept offers, and also swap/bartar with others

with all the *FREE* it's a neat place to learn about online selling.

hope that helps some who may be looking for an online outlet but put off by fees and complexity of other sites:)

Please add any other online selling venues that can help other members

ps remember *no* referral or affiliate links please!!

What about craigslist? It's a freebie, no cost.

just giving out some information where
you can list your items for free as many
as you want to list ...

ecrater (http://www.ecrater.com)

It has been around for a very long time,
but I hadn't been in there for quite awhile,
for I've closed the store a long time ago
when I underwent a divorce...

There is a FLIP side to this place, while
easy to use; but it is LIMITED, no fancy
schmancy html, xhtml, yadda, yadda, yadda's.

It's all plain and simple text.

But you can use BOLD and Italics
and that's just pretty much about it.

You can't use "meta or mega" tags, but there's
a way to get those spyders, bots, and other
search engines to your website (YES, you get
your own website) is how CLEVER you are in
wording out the description!

If you really want to sell, it pays to be specific
and detailed to the core.

Just saying 4 foot tall new Silk Tree in a planter
just isn't going to do.

What type of a tree is that in the picture? And
while it does enable photos uploaded, at no cost
to you, but you need to be specific, as even mentioning
such as nice chocolately-brown basket, nearly life-like
leaves where it's deceptive, fooling even mother nature
into believing it's real! This 4 foot silk tree comes in
a 2.5 inch planter, included in a cardboard box, with
leaves shaped to your hearts desires which can be
easily spread out to the circumstances of as wide as
5 feet, or keep it closely knitted for that bushy feeling
for those tight places to highlight that empty space
in your own home, apartment, or condo!

(That's clever and it will sell)

So paying attention and browsing around at other
Sellers will get attention.

IT DOES help to post in there that you are a reputatable
eBay, Half.com, etc, Seller with XXX+ feedbacks, but you
are not permitted to post links.

IT DOES give you the POWER and ABILITIES to
select what Countries you wish to make yourself available
to, and as for S&H (Shipping and Handling) that is also
in there for each item you select - however, if you offer
"discounts" for multiple purchases - you would need to
post that in the auction description somewhere.

They have a "Shopping Cart" format, so it enables you
to have customers pay now.

IT IS a headache to get it all started, but worthwhile
once it's all set up - and then you can be rocking!

:Good-Luck:

My wife's store is offering good discounts on art supplies and specialty books. The website also lists the art classes being offered throughout the country, including amazing botanical artists from around the world.

For anyone looking for a FREE place to sell online that is also a fun community, I would recommend Bonanzle (http://www.bonanzle.com)

It's like an enormous cyber flea market with stuff ranged from high end antiques thru plastic buttons and a whole lot in between

I opened my Deco booth there and sold 2 things soon thereafter. So our family have now opened RetroVintage for our cyber yard sales ;)

I am really pleased with the ease of listing and maintaining inventory there and the real low sales commission, with the free store. Plus the 2 guys who run the place are nice and they are mega tech savvy so there are a lot of innovative tools to use, which they make simple for techno-dummies like me!

anyways
as you can tell I am pleased with the place so thought would share in case anyone is looking for somewhere to sell stuff apart from the bay

they also have a cool thing called Handpicked Lists, where members can pick a theme and then include one of their own and 19 other items from around Bonanzle. the best handpicked lists get featured on the home page
Here they are(I keep it default to most recent so I can see the great new lists being added daily)
http://www.bonanzle.com/hand_picked_lists

there is also a Top 100 Booths list

Top 100 Bonanzle Booths

as well as a Ning Bonanzlers (http://bonanzle.ning.com/) Network

enjoy!

I have not tried www.seeauctions.com myself yet, but have heard from some other sellers that it has much potential and offering one full year free trial
