RA and it's neurological connections!

Hi everyone!

I am wondering why Arthritis conditions such as Rheumatoid, and particularly Osteoarthritis (which I thought was due to joint wear and tear) are on the NeuroTalk board? I understand that RA is autoimmune and could fit one of the Neurological categories but am wondering what the connection is!

This is a genuine question as I have been struggling with paraesthesias or PN (Peripheral Neuropathy) for about 16 months and now am getting a lot of joint involvement (pain, stiffness, strange laxity and changing shape of joints).

I would welcome any suggestions as to why the Arthritides are considered Neurological?

Osteoarthritis, for instance, can lead to probs. which impinge or compress nerves. Hence, its tie to neurology. Degenerative discs, bone spurs, etc., press against them nerves and ... bammmm ... radiculopathy, paresthesia, crush syndrome, etc.
