My daddy is now 76, we lost my oldest sister to cancer just this past October as many here know.(she fought it for almost 4 years) When she found out first colon cancer, we all had Colonoscopys and we were all clear.
My parents since older ages, are to have the test every 3 years, and us sisters every 5 years, since she got it quite young.
My dad had his newest test today, although clear last time, but had polyps but clear. THis time he had lots of polyps they removed, but had a spot they left, because they think it is cancer, and they took some for biopsy. But they told my parents that it does look very much as the test will be positive for cancer!!:(:(:(:(:(
So please keep my father in your prayers, this is one reason I have always been glad we moved back into my hometown 7 years ago. To be close to my parents as they are getting older. (I lived away in Boston area for 13 years...)
anyhow please pray for him, and our family..as we may be going down the cancer trail again. :(:( thanks all, sarah

Adding my prayers to the others Sarah.
As you may remember I went through the same thing last year, so I know what you must be feeling.
I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. :smileypray:

Count me in , too, Sabi
I am thankful that you all are being diligent - usually "bad" news for this type of cancer is still a good outcome when caught early. Hoping that will be the case for your Dad.

I am trying to be positive, but when they found my sisters colon cancer and removed part of colon, it was said she was in the clear and all good so far, and that caught so early... then only month later, on a scan, it was in her liver, they removed part of the liver...and chemo...and again said to be pretty positive news..!! then over time, other part of liver had spots...and eventually her lungs too!! this over 3 year span... but then once told liver and lungs...wow time went quick...glad in a way so she didnt suffer. I got a good visit with her before she passed away just this past October :( my oldest sis...not very old either she was 49...
hoping the news is good and early, just cancer is terrible..with his age I worry too...
thanks for all the prayers and good wishes, I know whatever is in Gods plan will be!! Just hard after just getting thru Christmas, knowing my parents and siblings all were a bit bitter sweet on first Christmas without Madeline!!
thanks again all, and you know it...HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSS,sarah

Bless your heart, Sarah. I'll be praying for you and your dear father.
Am accepting prayers for my Dad, too -- he was dxd with lymphoma about 6 weeks ago.
Hurts to see those we love hurting. :(

I'm so saddened to hear about this...I don't want to give you false hope.
When my dad was dx with prostate cancer he was 69, his chances were not good they said. He went through treatments for almost a year and still takes the 'Zodiac' treatment daily. He is now 87 and is in remission, and has been for over 10 years.
Where there is breath, there is hope and I'm hoping and praying good news for you and your family. His chances are good and I hope he celebrates many many more birthdays.
Twink...I'm hoping the same for your father.

Not good news Sarah, and especialy after what you went through with Madeline, but everyday you're in my thoughts and prayers.
I have no suggestions about treatments and stuff. You've been there before as a family already, but I do hope that whatever decisions the family make now, are the ones that the entire family are comfortable with....especially your dad.
I'd liked to have said happy New Year to you dear Sarah, but I'll be content telling you that you & your dad remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Koala...30min to go....Happy New Year...
MY parents as I was thinking of them just stopped by, they went out to friends house, a group of the six of them have met at one of the houses (changes each year) for dinner and cards..they used to do it till 12 midnt..then start coffees and hang a bit...now adays they get home earlier...so on the way home they stopped in..
glad cause I hadnt seen my dad, since any of the news...hugged and held him tight... he is 76, and for years I always noticed how much younger he has always looked for his age. But in last year or two, looking his age...and I think he has been down ever since Madelines death. Hope he has strength to fight this...
I gotta focus better on my health in the new year, get back into some yoga..or something...havent done much exercise in years...since started having issues with my walks...
anyhow...eating healthier and yoga are my goals for 2009...lose a bit of weight, hoping strength train a bit...and hope for less symptoms of my undx self and for all others here...hoping for a great new year..
Koala love ya, love ya all around here...hugssss and thanks for the prayers, sarah

update,
my dad has surgery this coming Tuesday to remove a part of colon and that cancer spot. They will check the lymph nodes too. He did have a CAT scan of chest and abdomen and was clear other areas so far.
So, I will be heading hour away with my parents to be there with my mom, and stay with her till evening visiting hours done. then travel home with her.
I took Tuesday off so I could do that, then off my usual Wed and Thurs. which is good, I dont think any complications would occur with his surgery. He is pretty darn healthy condition for age 76, but nice to know days off following, in case anything occurs, or also just to have time to travel up and down to see him while he is in hte hospital.
Thanks all for all the prayers and support, it was very helpful when my sister was fighting cancer, and when she passed away just this past October in the loss from cancer. So thanks in advance again, this is such a great group here, hugssss, sarah

Sarah, I'm keeping you and your Dad in my prayers. Think positive.....they caught it and can do something about it. He'll do fine. You and your Mom travel safely and be sure to take care of yourselves, too. Once he's back home he's probably going to pay you back for calling him today while he was on his liquid diet and asking him if he was hungry!! :)

Sarah, I just read this thread. I have said a prayer for your daddy, and for you and the rest of the family. It is a lot to deal with... especially coming so soon after your sister.
My husband is a colorectal cancer survivor. It's been just over two years since his emergency surgery. The Lord truly intervened. The surgeon didn't think it was possible that it hadn't spread because it was such a large mass. But it was truly a miracle. And it was due to the power of prayer! God does still perform miracles sometimes. And sometimes he uses the illness to bring others closer to him. With my husband he did both.
Bless you and I will keep checking this thread and praying!
Love and hugs!

I just usually pray that whatever comes keep my father strong, and not in pain..and the family strong no matter what is God's will. - I am heading there with them tomorrow for the surgery. We have to be there 930am. so not too bad, gotta head out by 8am then.

I'm a survivor too Sarah!
I hope and pray that all goes well, and that his results following the surgery are all good.
Please drive carefully Sarah. I know how easily it could be to become distacted on a long drive when you have something like this on your mind.

Oh, Sarah! You have been going through a lot. Cancer is always frightening because we never know the outcome of it. The best anyone can do is to go for the tests and then hope and pray for the best outcome. So we pray that surgery will remove it and that it will go away.
I will pray for your dad and for you. May you find peace in the prayers that so many are saying . May you rest tonight and sleep peacefully.

twinkle and all thank you..
his surgery went well, they removed what they had to, but also the cancer had reached a few lymph nodes, so he will be doing chemo soon. Hope for the best, and pray we are strong if worse.
hugss and thanks all, sarah
(twinkle I am doing pretty good, although body is not, had to cancel travelling downstate to the gymnastics meet that was held today in my sisters honor. It was also raising money for cancer center in her area. It was a 8 hour drive, and once my mom wasnt going with me, although I have drove that far a many of times alone with kids. My right leg is acting up the past two weeks...if driving more than 20min it gets numb/tingling and like sciatica...:(
so had to cancel my trip:()
I did however meet a new neuro, and one that took hour on more going over my sxs with me..yeahhhh a keeper.
