I just made a post on the Our Pets forum

Please keep my son in your prayers, as he is heartbroken over the loss of his beloved Millie
We could all use a prayer as we are really sad here:(

Prayers going up for you all. (((Chemar)))
You're all in my thoughts.
I really feel for you and your family and particularly for your son, Chemar. I know that awful feeling of loss too well and I know how difficult this can be for our sensitive children.
(((hugs for your family)))

Absolutely ((Cheri)) :(
I can imagine how devastating this would be to your son (and the rest of you). Nothing in this world compares to the unconditional love our dogs give us. It takes our breath away when we lose them, but your son will carry with him all the funny and sweet memories of his beloved Millie for the rest of his life. She'll continue to warm his heart.
P.S. - Millie was my mother's name. :D

Oh Cheri,
I am so sorry! We just went through this with my father-in-laws little dog.
I will be praying for comfort for your family and especially your son.
(((hugs)))

your caring responses have really blessed me
I would appreciate continued prayer for my son as he is grieving deeply and only managed to fall asleep around 4.30am
I stayed with him all night and my heart just aches for him
thanks again for your prayers and messages
with love and deep appreciation for all of you

Hugs and prayers to you and your son. He's learning a valuable life lesson - how to cope with the loss of a loved one. Over time, he'll see the joy she gave him was worth the cost of losing her. I hope he'll also understand how grateful she was for having such a good life with your family during her time in this world.
If I were in your situation, I'd tell my son to go ahead and shed all the tears he needs to shed. I'd then tell him to let me know when he's done - because there might be a puppy out there who needs his love, and I'd allow him to pick out the one he wants.
No dog can replace the ones we've lost - they are all unique. Still, it helps to fill the void and rekindle the flame that keeps us warm.

Hugs and prayers for you all, Chemar. A pet is part of the family. A hard thing to lose. I lost my Magic back during the summer, and haven't had the heart to replace her yet.

Cheri,
I hope your son is doing better. There is no greater bond probaby than with a boy and his dog.
I was wondering "What happened to my post?" Then I see I posted about your new kittens on Pets.

thanks Judy!
the kitties sure are helping to heal my son's heartache and to bring joy to all of us.
i had forgotten what a pure delight kittens are.........it has been 15 years since our Snowball had her unexpected litter.
I am just so thankful to see my son smiling again....I know he is still very sad about Millie.....but it has changed from a devastating grief to a sweet sorrow....and I know Millie's tail would be wagging to hear his delighted giggles as he plays with the kittens
