as curious have brought this to my attention, I started looking more into it...

it is quite serious...Richard Rountree aka SHAFT, had man's breast cancer...

I hadn't taken it serious when I first read about this a few months back...perhaps it is time for me to take it more seriously...

and while we're checking for upstairs, fellas, don't forget to check downstairs also...

Scott Hamilton's battle with testicular cancer comes to mind...

:)

Sheesh, now why am I thinking about the movie: Upstairs, Downstairs?? :thud:

Also our own Corkybird son had testicular cancer.

Young men need to taught how to check and what to look for. In both areas. :D

North and South came to mind...

Most people tend to think of breast cancer as a woman's disease. But men get breast cancer too. According to the American Cancer Society, about 1200 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in American men each year .......... http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/types/male_bc/new_research/

Here are some symptoms to watch out for.

* Painless lump
* Breast Pain (rarely)
* Nipple inversion or discharge from nipple
* Skin changes such as ulceration
* Gynaecomastia (enlarged breast)- rarely
* Palpable mass
* Enlarged lymph nodes in the axilla

Because men rarely check their breast tissue on a regular basis, lesions are often well established by the time the man seeks medical intervention, and according to studies, men diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer are more likely to die from the cancer than women diagnosed with early-stage disease. http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/types/male_bc/new_research/20070509.jsp

So gentlemen....... start checking your breasts on a regular basis. It takes just a second or two and could save your life.

A few years back :rolleyes: when I was 15 years old, my boyfriend of the same age, died from testicular cancer.

Please guys..... just a quick check once a month..... upstairs and downstairs.

Make it the anniversary of your birthday, the birthday of your DW, or any other date that you'll remember. Just do it. OK?
