hoot hoot...lol
i wasn't sure about posting this under sleep disorders, since many might just be on different time zones.
ok mr incognito....come out...come out...wherever you are....
can't you smell the choccy chip cookies? :p

I just follow my nose. It always knows. The smell of choccy and brownies is such a wonderful thing! :)
Hoot! Hoot! Hey, night owl! Imagine you being up this late. Do you never sleep? I was up until 10:00 a.m. this morning, then slept on the couch 'til four. It's been that way lately.
How's the exercise business doing? Still washing all those towels at home?
It's nice to find this cool new branch to roost on! Roost? Maybe I'm a rooster instead of an owl! :)

the new club is doing great! so great that i have atleast 4 loads of towels everyday. hmmm...heavy wet towels...bend and twist to put them in the dryer... sheesh...
ok...i wanna trade sleep patterns with you for just 1 day. lol. i get the 2 hours of sleep and wake up with a screaming back. wide awake again for a few hours. i'm averaging about 4 hours.
it's just all so odd. i have had sore..torn..hurt muscles for years and years. no biggy. apply heat, then cold, then rest it, stretch it and it heals. but this bone stuff...it's so different. nothing makes the pain go away. ok...so a brownie and nice mug of hazelnut coffee do. :D
so you the head rooster now huh? keep all us chickens in line? wait...i'm a monkey. :p
i think this is going to be a very nice branch to hang out on. :D

It's tomorrow now, Curious. You're supposed to be feeling better! What's causing your bone pain? I don't like the sound of that...:(
Sounds to me like you're pretty stubborn about overdoing it a lot! And maybe just a tad bit hyper-active? You gotta sit down while you drink that cup of hazelnut. Didn't you know that?
What I hate is being up all night, and then sleeping all day. It's hard to play incognito when there's nobody else around. Then I can't fool anyone but myself, and that's never been a challenge.
Did you finally get the move completely finished? And the computer? As I remember it, that was giving you a bit of a fit for a while. Now that you're growing cocoa (it ain't coca is it? ) in your back yard, and teaching grandmonkeys how to roll, you gotta slack off a little at work. I know, it's hard to do when your the boss of a small business, but hey! Give it a try!
I've been going through a whole pee-pot full of medical tests over the last few months, but they still ain't diagnosed me yet. They're gonna cut me open in a few weeks for a look-see, and if that doesn't pan gold I'll be SOL for another year. Insurance will start refusing to pay for any more tests until then.
Guess what? Our local PBS station starting showing a new Curious George series last week! Is that you running around with that man in the yellow raincoat?

i thought i'd wait to post back...make sure you were awake. :p
i have spondylolisthesis from an injury. (age 12... 30 years ago) the slippage has progressed. i'm sure from working at home and not working out as much as i always have. beleive me...i'm a disciplined person when it comes to working out, but doing it at home is not the same as going to the club.
could this be like the mechanic who fixes others cars and his wifes makes a noise? ;) hehehe
what tests are they going to do? oh man...look at your innards? well, they are going to find out you are wonderful inside and out! howz that for being a friend? :p i really really hope that non-invasive test will find your answer.
well of course that is me on pbs! every afternoon at 4pm and sometimes in the morning. grandmonkey is 4. the episode where cg ate the puzzle piece nd had to go to the hospital really hit home with him. guess what my little monkey pulled out of his mouth while we were watching?

Make sure I was awake? Shoot, Curious, you know me better than that. I was dead on the couch at 12:37 PM. I'm a Night Owl, remember?!? I fell asleep at about nine-thirty this morning and woke up around four.
What is spondylolisthesis? Boy what a word! I've heard you mention it before, but I never really understood it much. You say it comes from an old injury? Is the pain like inside the bone, or more in the joints and cartilege?
My condition, whatever it is, causes me sharp pain in the left side of my abdomen. It feels like somebody stabbed me in the left side and the knife blade broke off in there. Then of course after years of pain the fibro and other stuff sets in, and I'm just SOL. But thanks for that wonderful compliment! You really are a good friend. :)
It's not just mechanic's wives who have noisy cars. Ever notice that so many mechanics drive the crappiest cars? I've never owned a new car in my life. I always bought them old and broken, then fixed them up in my shop. It has saved me a ton of money over the years, I can tell you.:)
I watch Curious George with my little girl. She's ten, and it's new to her, but she's starting to really like it. She just thinks it's weird that I get into the show so much. She'd probably flip out if she ever saw me watch George of the Jungle! What is it with these Georges that I find so entertaining?
I hope you're feeling better today. Did ya get any shuteye at all last night? Gotta keep up that energy for the grandmonkeys, right?
Take care Curious...:)
Curious

george...george...george of the jungle...watch out for that TREEEEE! LOL
this link will tell you more about my back....
http://www.spineuniversity.com/public/spinesub.asp?id=39
there are different stages. it depends on the amount of slippage. my slippage is at L5-S1. in a nut shell: Importantly, spondylolysis only refers to the separation of the pars interarticularis (a small bony arch in the back of the spine between the facet joints), whereas spondylolisthesis refers to anterior slippage of one vertebra over another (in the front of the spine). Therefore, although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, this is incorrect and the two are technically not interchangeable. ( i copy and pasted that...you think i talk like THAT? :p )
i'm having my own little pitty party tonight. frustrated i guess. i try to be understanding, but my pain is gettin in the way. do you find that people don't beleive you are in pain because you don't look like you are?
so tomorrow...you take a nap for me ok? i did have a blast watching grandmonkey at the park today. no going down slides for me today. it was relaxing and the weather was beautiful!
hehehe...you save money on cars....i save money never having to buy a gym membership! my car is a 94. hubby has been looking for something for me. not brand new. he doesn't go for that. i had to twist his arm to buy him a new suburban. any advice?
Idealist
09-15-2006, 01:28 AM
Advice can be a tricky & hazardous business. But my (professional!!!) opinion is that Nissan makes the most dependable cars, with the highest value. I've seen many of them last for over 250k miles and still remain dependable. The real trick (of course!) is having a good mechanic to take proper care of your car, and not sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need.
Sorry you're feeling so frustrated. But I'm sure you have a good reason. You're not the kind of person to get taken down too easily. Unfortunately, I know exactly what you mean about being judged. A lot of people tell me that I look better now than I did when I was well, and say it in a way that almost sounds like an accusation. I don't even speak to my only brother anymore, because he keeps talking about it to other people behind my back, telling them that the only thing wrong with me is I've just "given up on myself", whatever that means. He called me once a year ago and told me that if I'd just forget about the pain and go out more, my problems would all go away. How the heck is that supposed to work?!?
But you know it ain't in your head, and I know it ain't in your head, and so do a lot of other people. IT'S NOT IN YOUR HEAD, CURIOUS!!! :) Feel better? I hope so. I'll take a long snooze for ya tomorrow so you'll get some good rest.
Sorry I sound so lame. I'm kinda down and out of it myself tonight. Here...(handing Curious a choccy brownie for a change)...eat this. Give yourself a hug, a treat, and a pat on the back. Get a good night's sleep, and we'll see ya all refreshed in da morning. :) :) :)

curious, you gotta lay off the chocolate if you want to sleep :p
I used to be a night owl until we moved to this 90+ yr old house and I saw a MOUSE in the LR one night  I think he came in the vent in the old fireplace. I plugged it up with steel wool "right real quik" :-)
For weeks I wouldn't go in the kitchen without an escort, when I saw our cat parked evil eyeing the stove.
Try to plug up all the points of entry in an old house! omg
so I go nitey nite with a 20 ft earbud watching teevee from the comfort of my bed where my mouse hound boxer sleeps. Nothing gonna get by him!

Hey, dorry! I'll never forget the time at my grandparents' house, when a
black "something" shot across the living room floor and went under the
utility room door (where the water heater was). I told my grandmother
about it and she said it was probably a mouse! Needless to say, I never
went near that door again!
Of course, with Raven (our cat) around, we don't have to worry about
things like that here!;) :D She'll eat anything!

yep mice are DEESKUSTING! They come in here at weird times....never in the winter. They like to hide behind the w/d and hw heater too. I saw a tail peeking out the side of my dryer one day and I about died.
I'm a tough ole lady except when it comes to creepy crawly stuff

Hi Dorry! Hi Gina! Wonder where Curious has gotten off to?
I rented an old Civil War era log cabin for a while when I was young and single, right after I got out of the Army. I shared it with all kinds of wildlife. There were squirrels living in the attic, and every morning they'd wake me up by running full-speed back and forth over my head. Mice were a big problem, of course.
Once I was watching a scary movie on TV with a date. We had the front door open because I had no AC, and it was hot that night. We were sitting on the floor in front of the TV, and all of a sudden she let out a big yell. I looked over to see a raccoon sitting up on its hind legs right beside her, watching TV. When my date screamed the raccoon screamed, and then I jumped up and growled at it like a bear, which scared both of them even more. The whole scene was hilarious.
Another time my fiancee' spent the night, and the next morning she woke me up in a panic because she had gotten up to go to the bathroom and found a big black snake lying in front of the bathroom door. I told her to step over it. Needless to say, she didn't see the humor in that. She told me that she was going home to mother, and wasn't coming back until I got rid of all the critters. So I got me a big tomcat, and after a week of noisy nights the creatures were finally all gone.

:D i'm here!
lil'monkey went to her first school dance tonight. miss social butterfly. lol. she danced and sang all night. she cracked me up when i asked her who she danced with. i'm thinking...well...there has to atleast 1 boy tall enough to dance with her...lol. her reply: girls....i'm only 12....i'm not into THAT with boys yet. maybe at the homecoming dance.
ok..so between now and i think the dance is in novemeber, she is going to start liking boys. lol. and they say kids don't come with a manual. getting more our of her....basically they all just dance. no dates...no asking anyone to dance..they just dance. hundreds of kids. must have made for an easy job for the chaperones.
gina...dorry....::::happy dance::::: you found us! hoot hoot!
so should i tell you my snake in the house story?

So I got me a big tomcat, and after a week of noisy nights the creatures were finally all gone.
how BIG a tomcat? I would have loved to see that scene! Guys....always take varmints in stride. Except, my yankee hubby wasn't too keen on the first mouse we ever had in a mobile home rental in TX many moons ago.
He had his cowboy boots on (with shorts of course -transplant cowboys don't know how to 'do the dress' right) and our sons BB gun ready to do battle with the cute little pink bellied mouse.
Come to think of it I was alot braver back then! I didn't like the mouse shredding the labels on my canned goods and making a mess, but other than that and the fact that my feet wouldn't hit the floor, I was cool with the mouse.
He stalked that poor mouse and shot up the kitchen with bb pellets pinging off the countertop and walls
That's ok, I shot our brand new T-bird at that same MH, when I tried to use his 22 with a scope to shoot a snake at the foot of the stairs about 2 ft away. Scopes don't work too well close up!! haha. The bullet ricocheted (sp?) off the car door and I had to call hubby at work and tell him I shot the car.
the worse part was, when I moved the scope away from my eye, the snake was still there at the foot of the stairs. Didn't even flinch! That boonie living was a trip for us yankees :D

Hi Curious! :) I'm dyin' to hear your snake story! Methinks there are few things more entertaining than hearing about a woman's (and some men's) encounter with a snake. They're even better than mouse stories! I'm glad that you're feeling better. If I were you, I'd be thankful that lil'monkey isn't too interested in d'boys yet. Maybe if you're really lucky that won't happen for a while.
It was a big tomcat, Dorry, with a mind of his own. He helped me out with the critter problem, but then I had to tolerate HIM for the next twelve years! He was solid black, and very intelligent. He taught himself how to go number one in the toilet, without anyone showing him how, but felt that he could do number two anywhere he danged well pleased! I miss him now, but back then we had serious personality clashes. I was hard-headed and so was he. Many times he'd run up a tree to get away from me, and I'd follow him up to get him.
I would have loved to been a fly on the wall when you told your hubby that you shot his car! That must have been something. The funniest snake story I have happened about six years ago. I was over at a friend's house when my wife called and told me there were two huge blacksnakes in the back yard, and they seemed to be doing the wild thing. She didn't want no bunch of baby snakes around, so I had better get home and get rid of them. I told her I was coming, but then kept talking to my friend for about ten more minutes before I left. I was pulling up the driveway at home when I suddenly heard this Blam! Blam! Blam! coming from around the house. I ran around to the back yard, and there stands my wife with a .38 in her hand, blasting away at two snakes from thirty feet away. The .22 was sitting on the porch steps, 'cause she'd already emptied that. Her mom was hiding behind her, and all the younguns were lined up against the wall with their eyes popping out. Needless to say, you'd have to be a pretty awesome shot to hit a moving snake with a snub-nose pistol from thirty feet away, so the snakes seemed totally unbothered by it all. I had to go get a hoe from the shed and dispatch the offending critters. I still can't think about that without laughing about it.
I hope ya'll are doing fine and having a good day...:)
Curious

grandmonkey and lil'monkey and i were getting ready to leave the house. i was brushing my teeth in fact. lol. grandmonkey was just about to turn 3.
i look down the hall ( my hall goes from one end of the house to the other....) i see grandmonkey bending over and reaching something by the bar in the kitchen. i'm thinking he is gonna eat a cherrio he dropped or something. i yell out " don't you eat that!" he yells back "meme...i don;t eat snakes" he had been petting it!!!!!!!!!
i run down the hall. sure enough. big ole snake abot 5 ft long. i snatch up grandmonkey and head for the stairs. yell at lil'monkey to stay in her room. i call hubby who was on his way home to make sure he doesn't walk into the kitchen.
i snuck back in the kitchen and the snake was gone. we never did figure out where it went. but this night owl stopped her midnight snacking!!!!!!
so...what is your wifes number incase i have snakes doing the wild thing? :p what a good woman!!!
btw...you do know yo have your clock backwards...sleep...nighttime...
(((idealist))) i hope you get turned around soon.

see us women know how to shoot! what's that spray and pray? something like that. We just empty the clip and hope to eventually hit the darn thing. :p
I'd like to see you chasing the tomcat up the tree. Like you I've mellowed with age. Back in my 20's I took things personal and no animal was going to out stubborn me :D

09-19-2006, 07:23 PM
you're much braver than I am Curious! I would have fled the house never to return until the snake was found. I'm serious :p
Idealist
09-19-2006, 11:31 PM
Why didn't you pet the snake too, Curious? It might have been having a really bad day and needed some love! Okay, not! I ain't afraid of snakes, but neither am I a snake-lover. I don't like the way they feel when you touch them, and I don't want to play with them fer sure.
Dorry, yep, it's "spray & pray". When she closes her eyes and starts to spray, I close mine and start to pray! There ain't no safe place to hide that's within a thousand feet and above ground.
Yeah, Curious, I know my clock's out of whack. The crazy thing is that any day now it could totally switch around. Then I'll be falling asleep at midnight and waking up at five in the morning. Truth to tell, I like that a whole lot better, 'cause I'm more in synch with the rest of the world that way. I gotta go see a surgeon tomorrow, so if I don't get to sleep tonight there'll be no chance for a nap in the morning, and I'll be useless all day.
I've been thinking about what you can call me instead of aw, so your poor widdle fingers don't get so over-worked, but I ain't had no super ideas. "i" just doesn't sound right. "id" sounds better, but every time I heard that I'd be reaching for my wallet to get my license. Looks like yer just gonna have to keep up the typing for now. I ain't ready for another name-change yet!
dorry
09-19-2006, 11:34 PM
I close mine and start to pray!
I was cracking up at your family lined up against the house out of the line of fire. :D :D

i've been thinking too. you just had to go and find a name i can't mess with.

i'm sure i will up posting the night away or i can go into chat if you need a friend.

09-20-2006, 12:39 AM
Hey Curious! You're up late tonight. Or should I say early this morning?
This place has a chat? Cool. I hadn't realized that yet. I will definitely have to check it out.
Actually tomorrow (today!) is only for a consultation, to find out if the surgeon will perform the laparoscopy or not. I went to two surgeons last year, and they both declined to do it. I couldn't figure that one out. I thought that if a doctor recommended you for the procedure, and insurance was willing to pay for it, then any surgeon would be only too happy to do it and make some money. Guess I was wrong.
The woman I am seeing tomorrow is supposed to be really good. I'm hoping she'll agree to do the procedure, and that it'll have a good result. If I don't have any luck with this it will be a whole 'nuther year before insurance will agree to any more expensive tests. No MRIs or CTs, or anything like that. I don't want to wait another year! I want to go out and have me a good time!
So, what's keeping you up on this fine night? I hope it's nothing bad. I know, you were just feeling sorry at the thought of poor widdle me sitting here all night in front of my computer alone, right? Why, you're so thoughtful! :) I'm hoping I'll be able to doze off for a while at some point. And you gotta get yer rest too, 'cause you've got a business to run.
Curious
09-20-2006, 12:52 AM
shoot sweety, i don;'t even try to go to sleep until close to 2 am. most nights i can't sleep for over 2 hours at a time.
plus..and this may sound selfish, but this is the only time i ever have to myself. these monkeys..including hubby follow me around!
they will even stand at the door and talk to me while i go potty. drives me bonkers. i know i am wonderful and swet and they love me...but sheesh...go away monkeys!!
oh..and get this...lol...i have an intercom system. so if i happen to sneak somewhere without a tag a long...they intercom the whole dern house! weirdos. lol
my mother thinks it's sweet.
i hope you get the a-ok from this new lady dr. think positive! there is reason why those other dr's turned you down. just wasn't meant to be.
btw....hubby is doing the day to day stuff. i'm behind the scenes. and boy do i have some stuff to do tomorrow. my webiste has 3 pages that are offline.
Idealist
09-20-2006, 01:02 AM
Now that's just too funny! They actually talk to you through the bathroom door?!? Bet that's a bit trying sometimes.
So you're behind the scenes, huh? Kind of incognito like me? That's pretty cool. 'Course it means you have to wash all those sweaty towels, right?
I have one of those intercom systems, too. I live in a really big house, with a basement and three floors, so it's a necessity. My little girl gets on it when she gets home from school and goes "yoo-hoo...daddy...where are you?", so she doesn't have to spend the energy looking for me. I fix her a hot snack every day after school, so I'm always the first one she looks for when she walks in.
What's on your website? Exercise stuff? Am I allowed to check it out?
Curious
09-20-2006, 01:18 AM
sure you can check it out, but let me fix it first. lol. it is info about the club and some..i think atleast 1 article i wrote.
i know the first 3 pages are offline...so it will show an x. i can get it back online in a few minutes. dang server was acting up and wouldn;t let me load new pictures. and some links are messed up. so go easy on me k...? lol
btw...i think i got all the pages up...but i know links are messed up
i have a 4000sq ft house. i thought it would be big enough to have some space of my own. nope. so this winter i am having the attic area over the garage converted to an art sudio just for lil ole me. as we speak there are tinker toys on my desk. and it wasn't me playing with them!
i really kid you not about bothering me at not so good moments.
and yes..i have the towels to wash. all the business side. ap/ar...accounting..advertising...never see adults type of job. elmo was real cute today. ;)
it is nice to be home for kids afterschool. it's special time isn't it? you know your daughter will always cherish it. :) so what is for snack tomorrow?
Idealist
09-20-2006, 01:37 AM
I didn't know you were a writer! I love to write, but I don't do it as much these days. For a while I had a regular column in a local paper, called 'Auto-Talk'. I didn't get payed for it, though. At least not in cash. I traded my writing for advertising in the paper. Do you write anything besides fitness articles?
I'm going to check your website out. I bet it's great! :) You know that since you posted that link, everybody else is going to be checking it out too, so you can expect a lot of feedback on it. Don't worry, the people here are gentle and nice, most of the time. :)
You have a big house, too. It sure makes for a lot of work sometimes, doesn't it? I can't ever seem to keep up with the maintenance. Sometimes I wish we hadn't built it so big, but at the time it seemed like a good idea. Like you, I thought I'd have plenty of room, but it doesn't seem to work out that way, does it? :o
You don't have to be ashamed of playing with tinker-toys, Curious. Are you a closet tinkerer? Well come out of the closet and share those toys! You ought to get you one of those new erector sets. Those things are fun!
Snacktime for my daughter is always Ramen noodles, a breaded chicken pattie, or an egg sandwich with cheese. She's a very finicky eater. There are only about two-dozen kinds of food that she'll eat. Usually whenever I fix supper I have to fix something seperate for her. But she's so sweet I let her get away with it. It makes the other two jealous, of course, but they realize she's the baby.
Curious
09-20-2006, 01:57 AM
loo...i could use the input. this is my first try at web stuff. one of the pages is pretty much crap. it still has stuff from the old club. i am determined to get that fixed tomorrow. and the links. lol.
i love to write. i have boxes filled with training manuals i wrote, fitness, health and nutrition articles that were published. and tons of short stories i want to turn into children's books someday. i also paint and draw, so i want to do my own illustrations.
i have done some of the same type of things...have a column in a local paper. i did it monthly for trade in advertising. lol.
have you thought of doing that again? maybe even online? i guess i keep it to do if the time comes that i can';t do anything physical.:o
oh...boy...do i hear ya on the house size! oh yeah...we will all help clean and fix stuff....promises promises! lordy....hubby just isn't a handyman. i LOVE powertools! and nice big roll away...:::swoons::: tools...and anything for my kitchen. lol. part of me really regrets buying house with a pool. high maintenance. and boy dothey all disapear when when that needs work! but are jumping right in after i'm done.
i'm sure all the kids have their own special little thing from dad. i'm the baby too. i am very very close to my dad. my siblings never have been. for us..he had more time when i came along. our bond has really helped with his illness. he would never have taken the help from my siblings.
oh...and for the record....the tinker toys are grandmonkeys....the old happy meal toys from the first years....those are MINE! :p
Idealist
09-20-2006, 02:11 AM
So share the happymeals toys then! I don't go much for McD's food, but the toys are pretty cool.
Man, you're just a talented woman ain't ya? Is there anything you CAN'T do? ;) I've thought about trying to break into writing, and I've always been told I have a lot of natural talent, but I guess I lack for confidence. I've shown only a very few people any of what I've written. My kids love my stories, but then again they would, wouldn't they? Or at least they'd tell me they did.
I have to admit, that's been the one great thing about my condition. I've got to spend a lot of really good time with my young-uns, time that I never would have found while I was running my shop. All my kids like to hang out with me, which is pretty cool, and they actually value my opinion.
Well, friend, I'm going to give a shot at getting me a little shut-eye before the sun shows up. It likely won't work, but I guess I gotta try. Nitey-nite, Curious. Don't let the bed-bugs bite!

Hey, Curious!
Well, yesterday turned out to be a disappointment. At the last minute my appointment with the surgeon was canceled. Seems she was called in for an emergency surgery. So now I have to go back next monday, and hopefully I'll see her then.
I didn't know you had joined the Mod Squad! Does that mean I have to salute you now, and call you ma'am? You're not gonna give me the boot when I tease you, or give you a hard time, are ya? :) I hope you're doing well, and don't get so busy with your new duties that you don't have time to chat anymore!
Ponyboy, you and curious need to get radios in your bathroom, so you can turn them up really loud to let everyone know you're not listening to them. A person deserves a modicum of privacy on the throne, you know.
Hi Artist and Jo! :) Hope you are both doing well!
Curious

so i take it you didn't get my memo. sheesh. what were you doing? sleeping last night?
i'm off to go buy a boom box. :p
(maybe i should let ponyboy have BOOM box in his bathroom  )

So we're handing out memos now, huh? Sounds impotent...uh...I mean important. Really, I meant to say important! Yeah, that's it.
Say, what happened to the link to your website? I went to check it out a while ago, and I couldn't find the link! Am I blind?
Really, I think you'll make a great mod. You have the right personality for it, and everyone seems to like you. :) Good luck with it!

i will remind you of the memo. it said to bribe me with choccy! lol
i will pm it to you. i did some work. but have more to do tomorrow. lots of updating. new classes. but i got some pics put up.
so now i get to worry about you until next monday? i hope you plan on staying up with me.

Oh, THAT memo! I remember now! I found it on my dessert plate, right underneath that tall pile of choccy cupcakes you sent me. :p
My little girl likes you, Curious. She was watching me type on the computer and asked me about you. When I told her you were friends with Curious George her face lit up, and she loved your Willie Wonka location. She said to tell you hi. :)
You don't have to worry about me, dear, though it always feels good to know somebody does. I'll be okay. I always am in the long run. And I'm always happy to stay up and chat with you. Especially since I know I'll be up anyway!
I got the addy, and I'm gonna check out your site tomorrow. Then I'll let you know what I think. I gotta warn ya, though, I'm always honest about these things! Not critical, just straight up. But I get the feeling that you like the truth. Am I right?
Hope you're doin' good...

awww...tell that sweety i said hi! i'll have to send you pictures of my curious george room!
yeppers you know me well! honesty!!! hehe...and i'm honest when i tell you i didn't update anything more today. hubby and the pt's were suposed to email me some class changes and didn't. we have an afternoon sports type of training class for teens. since the club is so close to lil'monkeys school, they all just walk over. but the pictures are up.
more honesty...could be better. not sure what is up, but bad pain day. :( worse in years. but i'll make it through. almost tomorrow already!!:D can't be worse than today.
how are you holding up tonight?

09-23-2006, 12:21 AM
Aawww...(((curious))). Sorry you're feeling bad tonight. Is it the same old pain, only worse, or is it something else? I can tell that you're the kind of woman who always tries to smile over the pain, so when you say it's bad I know it is. Where do you feel it the most? Does anything besides choccy seem to help?
I've never really heard you say much about your condition, or what you do to deal with it. I know CPers each have a unique personal experience, even when we share some common symptoms. It's defined by who we are, and how we handle life in general. But remember, it's okay to let it out once in a while, though I know it can be hard. It's always been hard for me, too. What's that old saying about friendship halving the pain and doubling the joy? ;)
Anyway, guess what? It's tomorrow! It's like an old Peanuts comic I saw once, where the gang was in Australia. One of them said, "we don't have to worry about the world ending today, because down here it's already tomorrow!"
I hope you're taking care of yourself tonight Curious. Let somebody else do the towels!

yep it;s my back. keep your fingers crossed that i don't have more slippage. or breaks. did i ever send yo the link about what i have? i sent it to jo. she has something similar.
it is kinda sad, but my family has never understood my pain. i rarely let them glimpse it. i just keep doing what i do. hoping that this is as far as the progression will go.
lol..have my choccy covered raisins. i'm all set. glad it's tomorrow!!

i can't handle sleep meds. i wish i could sometimes. it's two-fold for me. one is medicine head. they knock me out and leave me with a hangover feeling. not that i KNOW what that is exactly :p . second is my back can't handle being in one position for that long. i get knocked out..i don't move. then i CAN'T move.
so whatcha all wanna talk about?
Idealist
09-23-2006, 01:25 AM
All of my possessions for a moment of sleep! I hear ya, Kamie. Le sigh? Sounds like Pepe' LePew has been disappointed again! :p
Yeah, Slogo, those sleep meds are a double-edged sword. I hate using them, but every once in a while I do. Usually I just stay up for thirty hours or so, until exhaustion eventually takes over. Not very fun, though. :o
Yeah, Curious, you sent me that link. And I read it. But that doesn't really tell me how the condition makes YOU feel. I've got my fingers all crossed for you.
I have that same problem with some of my family members, too. Especially my brother. We used to be pretty close, but now we don't talk. I really can't understand why he would think the things he does. I gotta admit it bothers me, more than I'd ever show. But I can't do much about it. When people who know you doubt you, then anything you say will just sound like an excuse to them, and I ain't into giving excuses.
Do you get much support at home for your condition? Does anyone ever ask if they can help, or ask sincerely how you're doing? Sometimes I feel that that's the one thing I would like more than anything else. Just a little understanding, ya know? I can do without the sympathy, but a little bit of compassion would be nice. :)
I really don't have any plans for this weekend. I'll probably just hang-out with my kids, do a little work, watch a little TV - that sort of thing. And sleep whenever I can.
Wish I had some chocolate-covered raisins!
Curious

blah..pain. it;s funky when it's your bones. not something that just massage releives. mine has slipped where it is pressing on what my dr called my root nerve. at times i get shooting stabbling like pain in my legs. clear down to my ankle. then they go numb. can't even feel the needle pokes. that is scary since i have been paralyzed before .the creepy crawly feel is worse. that is when the nerves are waking up. that happens after i use my inversion table. it really helps to pull those vertebrea a part.
so there you have it. a condensed version. :D
i won't let the pain stop me. i may come to the point where i lose motor function, so i will be stopped then. so keep playing batman and soccer with grandmonkey. teach lil'monkey the electric slide. wear my high heels on the weekend. :p

support? no. hubby hasn't even looked at the paperwork from my dr or looked at the different web sites to explain it to him. it's one of those things...i don't look like i'm in pain. i put up a good front. he doesn;t understand that excerise CAN't fix this. i think it makes him feel helpless, so it;s best to ignore it.
empathy...compassion...somebody to fix atleast 1 meal or do 1 load of laundry. go grocery shopping or help put away the food. wash my car...do yard work. vacuum...mop..clean a bathroom..sheesh...we have 4. clean the pool...
i'm sorry about your relationship with your brother. have you tried to talk to him..about how much it bothers you? he might feel helpless too. it's not an excuse. but it is hard to see loved ones in pain. i grew up with that. that is why i hide mine.
you know...that is why i come and yap your eyeballs off nightly. :p you understand.

Hey, Curious! :) My daughter says you're nice. She also says thanks for the picture. Now my teenage daughter wants you to post one for her. She says Curious George rocks!
Something weird happened on these posts last night, or maybe it was just my computer. Your posts didn't show up until today! I checked the thread several times last night, and you were AWOL. Then this evening I log on and see messages that weren't there before! Maybe I need glasses. Maybe I need eyes.
Being paralyzed would be scary. I'd rather feel pain than feel nothing at all! There isn't any great risk of that happening to you, is there? That would be awful! :( Yer a tuff woman, Curious. Still, it's a shame you don't get more support. You deserve it. Sounds to me like you hold the place together. I guess I can understand how your hubby would feel the way he does, and why my brother feels the way he does, too. But they should get over it. You & I got enough to deal with as it is, without having to pretend that it just ain't so. It's good to be tough 'cause you wanna be. It ain't good to be tough 'cause you gotta be. There's a difference (I think... ).
So how's the mod thing going for you? Is it a lot of work? Do you enjoy it? Feel free to bust my chops anytime if you need the practice. (I hope you know I'm kidding, of course...;) )
How was your day today? Been sleeping any? Been resting at all? I hope that darn pain has backed off from you a bit. I worked around the house all day today, and then fixed dinner for the kiddies. (chicken divan with rice...yum, yum!) Betcha didn't know I'm a world-class chef, did ya? (NOT!)
BTW - the chocco chips were right on time!

yeppers...i'll post one for big sister. but...i'll take a poc of some of my vintage ones and post them next week. :D
no rest today. i promised hubby i would finally have a garage sale next weekend. i still have stuff ( tons ) from what didn't sell of sistermonkeys before she moved to the east coast. plus with growing monkeys...lots of clothes and stuff. i have craft i have made and some paintings i did. might as well clear stuff out. so i spent the day moving stuff inthe garage and setting up.
then cooked dinner. garlic chicken stir fry. lil'monkey is at a teen night, so i have to go pick her up in 30 minutes...unless :::bats green eyes:::: i can talk hubby into going to get her. grandmonkey and i made reeses pieces cookies. small batch. ya want a few?
we are celebrating his 5th birthday tomorrow. it really is on monday. he will be 5  already. i'm toooo young for this. lol
hmmmm chicken divan...i haven't made that in a long time. nobody ever goves me hints what they want for meals. so i'm stealing yours!! :p

09-24-2006, 12:21 AM
Garage sale, huh? Now, there's an idea! I've got about ten tons of stuff in this big ol' house I'd like to get rid of. I'd be willing to throw it away, but if I can con people into paying, AND hauling it off for me...
Tell grandmonkey I said Happy Happy Birthday! :) That's what's great about having kids around - when you start getting too old to want to celebrate your own birthday anymore, you can always enjoy theirs, and remember what it was like to WANT to be a year older.
I've never learned how to do stir-fry, but I do like to eat it. It can't be all that hard, can it? Do you fry it up in a wok? With fresh veggies and such? Uh-oh, don't tell anyone I actually asked you a cooking question. That might embarrass me, and tarnish my mucho-macho image.
So, did the eye-batting do the trick? Women are so good at that. Heck, ya'll got a whole arsenal of those mind-bend techniques. I remember one time when my son was still little, and my wife was trying to get him to help her out with supper. She told him that he could choose what we'd have if he'd help fix it. But she had already decided what dinner would be. So every time he suggested something she'd come up with a reason why it wouldn't work, until finally he picked the very thing she wanted. Afterward I told her how neat I thought it was - how she'd managed to manipulate him into doing exactly what she wanted. And then it hit me. I looked at her and said, "wait a minute - that's what you do to me all the time, isn't it?" Then she just got this look in her eyes like, "uh-oh...busted!" :p
Oh, well. We guys got our own bag of tricks, ya know. It's just a shame that they never really seem to work...
Curious
09-24-2006, 12:36 AM
actually..he did go get her. i got something in my contact and took them out. :D sooo..a blind woman shouldn't drive. lol.
stir fry is easy...i'll send you some tips. but remeber...a HOT pan. even a frying pan will work. just have everything cut up and ready to go.
hehehe...we got people fooled. yeppers...bring me money to clean out my gargage..attic...closets... you should try it. lol.
now you just wait a minute buster...you he-men got a pocket full tricks yoursleves. yep..oh darlin' i just love how you make the best chicken fried steak in the south....
you think i don't know that i just got suckered into making a big meal instead of being treated to nice dinner out? humph :p
and the laundry...ummmhow much soap again? what setting to i dry on? do you iron this shirt inside or out? starch?

awww sweety (((((Idealist)))))) hey i even capped your name!!:D
yeppers it was a good day. my mom bought grandmonkey a real guitar. he loves it. kinda louder than the air guitar he had. ;) we have an awesome keyboard already, so this just adds to the music around here. future rock stars ya know. gotta think of a new names since the monkeys was used already.
so do you have to give your kids exact words when you want them to ask something at school? or anywhere for that matter. or do they have common sense to add to the conversation by asking more questions?
sheesh...drives me nuts. i tell lil'monkey to ask her coach how much it would be to buy 2 more t-shirts, 2 shorts, a sweat shirt and a pair of sweat pants so she could take a check the next day. hard huh? she tells me..oh coach said it wouldd be the same as what it was before shcool started. which was????? nope she never thought to ask. maybe i should have asked her in french.
comedy of errors lately. so tonight she is going to be helpful. hurray!! put a load of laundry in. hubby comes home. HE is going to be ehlpful and put a load of club towels in. me thinks they are trying to kill me...the shock and all. he comes out of the laundry room....yep..lil'monkey put a load in...didn't turn it on. guess what i'm doing tonight?
so mr buddy...are ya gonna make me play guessing games? wassup with your appt? are you up to talking?

Hi, Kamie! :) How ya doin' tonight...er...this morning? I hear ya 'bout the sweets. 'Course, I just polished off a Little Debbie's creme swirl, so I'm good right now...:)
Curious, your grandmonkeys sure are hilarious sometimes. Wonder where they got that from?
A couple of years ago I went to a PTA meeting at school to see my oldest daughter in a play, and I took little-daughter with me for company. I sat all the way in back, of course, trying to be incognito like I do  . Then the principle gets up on stage to give a speech, and as soon as my little girl saw her, her eyes got big as saucers and she blurts out: "Daddy! Look at that woman's boobies! They're HUGE!!!" Of course everyone in the gym heard her, and they all turn around in their seats, so I got about two hundred faces staring at me. But my daughter isn't through yet. She starts tugging on my sleeve and asks: "Aren't they HUGE, Daddy?" I about died, and everyone's waiting for me to answer her, so I finally said "yes, honey, they are big, but they make her look nice, don't they?" I live in a small town, so of course everyone there knew who I was. Needless to say, I haven't been to another PTA meeting since then.
So how are ya enjoying all that help you're getting? Isn't it so nice to be able to just kick back and relax, knowing everything will be taken care of and there's no need to worry? Enjoy it, Princess!
Actually, my appointment with the surgeon today went really well. She was a very nice lady, and she's going to do the surgery next wednesday. She's supposed to be very talented, and she told me she'd do her very best to find out what's going on with me. Depending on what she finds, she may even elect to go deeper inside than she usually does with a laparoscopy. If she does that, though, I might have to spend at least a day or two in the hospital. :(
It was something that happened later which spoiled my day, when I was telling my wifey about the visit and what the doctor said. I was probably just being too touchy and over-reacted, but it really hit a tender spot. You probably don't want to hear about all that.
BTW - did you get the e-mail I sent to you on your website? I couldn't tell if it went through or not, and you never mentioned it. I really did like your website. It looked cool. Your gym looks nice, too, from what I could see of it. Much bigger than what I imagined.

we have just shy of 17,000 sq ft. sure is better than having the other one..it was 35, 000!
now where was your video camera when lil'ID was doing her best immitation of "kids say the darndest things?" you'd be a millionaire!! i have done the small town. where i am isn't so big. a famliy kind of town. having a business and living here, it makes it hard to not have somebody stop and say hi. more stop lil'monkey..lol
so i take it you are getting the support?
i am sooo glad this dr is going to try and find out what is wrong. you take this next week for you. rest. physical and mental. gear up for it. i'll help you keep your spirits up!!

You always do!!! :) :) :) That's why I hang around in here. I always leave with a smile. I'm a person who loves to laugh, but it's gotta be a good, honest kind of laugh. I can't fake it.
Wow, 35,000 feet! That's a lot of upkeep. My whole shop, front and back, was only 10,000, and that kept me plenty busy. I went by there today, and it sure brought back memories. Somebody else is running the shop now, and they want me to refer all of my old long-time customers to them, but I'm not sure about their qualifications yet. My customers trust me, and I know they would listen, but I ain't gonna lie to them.
Actually, it was a lack of support that got me kinda down. It really wasn't so bad, I guess. When I told my wife that the surgeon wanted her to be there while I was having my surgery, so they'd have someone to give permission in case they decided to go in deeper or found something and needed to fix it, all she would say was that she'd see what she could do. She's a department manager at a Lowe's store, and I know she's busy, but it seems to me that some things should be more important. I thought I might be, but maybe not. Anyway, you know how I feel about that. It's like the thing with my brother all over again. I'm the kind of guy who likes to pretend that things like that don't bother me, but sometimes they really do. Especially now.
But I'll get over it. I always do. I just needed some cheering up, that's all. :)
Curious

hon...you are speaking to a lady who drove herself in a 5 speed bronco in full labor to the hospital. drove myself and lil'monkey home 24 hours after i had her. when the offers seemed kinda wishy washy and i felt like i was imposing...i just took care of things myself.
but...you are like me. we aren't going to break down that wall and really let them in to see any itty bitty part that's gonna show it HURTS OUR FEELINGS!
nah..we worry and take care of everyone else. but that is ok.
must be a silly two way street. we don't understand them and they don't understand us. hmmm...good thing we aren't on a one way track!
i wish i was closer. i'd be camped out. i'll be frazzled waiting for you to get back online.
you tell that lady dr to scout around, but don't take out nothing you might need later. oh...did she tell you about the gas after? all that air they blow you up with is gonna have to find it's way out. warn those girls! laughing..it makes it worse. lol. have a nice soft pillow to hold on your tummy. might want an old one to muffle the back end. :p
Idealist
09-26-2006, 02:46 AM
Oh, gee, thanks!!! THAT makes me look forward to the surgery a little more! Now I know I get to have GAS afterward. Better not tell the girls, though, lest they conspicuously avoid me when I get home.
Tag, you're it! If I could get close enough to tag you, that is. Whenever I'm in here, you're somewhere else. I'm writing in one place while you're writing in another. It's like we have each other on hold tonight. It's confusing! It's funny how you said some things that are almost exactly what I said on the other line.
That's good advice for the surgeon. I'll tell her to leave it alone if it looks useful, and don't break it if it ain't fixed. Or don't fix it if it ain't broke. I'm losing my mind here!
Since it's halfway through the night, I'm hoping that you've made it to sleep already. I'll catch up with ya tomorrow. Thanks for caring, Curious...:)

Hi Monkey-friend! :)
I still can't beleive you actually drove yourself to the hospital in a 5-speed Bronco while you were in labor. You must be made out of leather and nails. Tough woman!
So, did ya get a good night's rest last night? I was up until four, but when I finally got to sleep I stayed there until three this afternoon. Not bad, huh? But whenever I sleep so much during the day, I always hate myself when I first wake up. It's such a yucky feeling. I feel totally worthless until I've been up and moving around for at least an hour.
Did you see the thread on Community Forum about accessing the old OBT posts? Pretty neat. I've just been looking at some of the old night-owl posts from before.
I haven't really done much today since I woke up. They called me from the hospital this afternoon and told me I have to come in for a pre-op work-up on thursday. Not sure what that's all about. I decided not to cook tonight, so me & the kids all got sandwiches from Subway for dinner.
So what big doin's have you been up to today?

You need to get yourself a four-wheel-drive. Where's that old Bronco?
You doin' okay this evening? You seem a little out of it, Curious.
My brain just ain't working right tonight. Everything seems a little dull and lifeless, KWIM? It's like that sometimes. You'd think after all the sleep I got I'd be alert and rarin' to go, but old Uncle Joe's movin' mighty slow at the Junction.

long day i guess. kinda stressful. a let down feeling.
i had high hopes all day yesterday that grandmonkeys mother would atleast send an email if not call. he doesn't remember her...but still...kwim? what does she do? posts a big happy birthday to him on her myspace blog. :( acts like she is him mommy having a big celebration for him. weird. then all these real life and online friends post to her blog. weirded me out i guess.
i got some dang cute pictures of him. he dressed up his stuffed animals as super heros. and himself in his dash outfit from the incredibles. lol. too cute.

I think I can understand how maddening that could be. The sad thing is that so often, it's the parent who neglects their child who has the easier time impressing them. I think it's because the child feels hurt by the fact of their parent's absence, and thinks it's because of them, so they are quick to do whatever they can to prove to the absent parent that they love them, and that they are worth loving, too. Did that make any sense at all?
Anyway, just remember, it is you and the other's around Grandmonkey who get shown his love in all those special little ways of his every day, and nothing anyone else can do will ever take the place of the genuine warmth and security you give every day, and the real love that you SHOWER him with all the time. :) He's a lucky little boy. And anyway, it sounded to me like the day YOU had with him would be pretty hard to top!
It's a scary thought, but I hope that when I have grand-idealists, I'll be that close to them. (That would have sounded better if it were still grand-wizards, wouldn't it? )
I missed most of House this evening. My little girl doesn't like Subway, so I had to fix her some mac n' cheese for supper, and I forgot about the show.
There ain't too many TV shows I like these days. How 'bout you?

Coolangel - can I call ya Cool? - I've been trying to think of the scariest thing a doctor ever said to me, but I'm having trouble. No big surprise there! There was the time when I was having blood-marrow taken, and all of the sudden the doc starting yelling for a second nurse to come help right away. But he didn't say anything to me. In fact, when I asked (with some hint of panic, I'm sure) what was going on, he just told me that everything was fine and going as planned. Yeah, right! But that ain't a good story. I guess I just don't have one...

you missed a great house! i made the monkeys eat dinner fast, so i could watch it. lol
i end up taping...no tivo...most shows. i love csi...bones...numbers and for some odd reason we watch ghost whisperer.
i'm not much of a sandwich eater either. so...the mac and cheese would have been my pic. we had spaghetti and meatballs. i cheated on the garlic bread and used the pillsbury bread sticks. the low fat ones. sprinkled them with some fresh parm.
grandmonkey hasn't seen his mother in close to 2 years. he doesn't even know who she is in pictures. she does stuff to impress her friends.
he is a lucky little guy. lots of love. silliness. and ME!! lol. but most of all i'm lucky that he just is. she could have made the choice for him not to be. i treasure him. he was put here to to tease lil'monkey!

I like House, CSI and Numbers. My little girl LOVES Bones and Ghost Whisperer, and I watch those with her. I've always liked the Law & Order shows, too, but in my opinion they've been going downhill lately. I really like the show 24, but it won't be back until January. I miss having the History Channel. I got rid of my satellite back when the troubles began to save money. :(
My little girl could live on mac n' cheese. My favorite food is spaghetti, but I like it without the meatballs. I guess I'm lucky, 'cause I've never had a taste for rich foods. I'm always at my optimum weight, so I never have to watch what I eat. My sisters hate me for that.
I like to cook, but I gotta admit I'm not the best at it. Plus I always make a mess. I do clean it up, though. See, I ain't ALL bad! My kids like my cooking, but that's because I fix things that they like to eat. You sound like you fix some fancy things? Do you enjoy that?
Curious
09-27-2006, 12:00 AM
my name is curious...i'm a cookaholic
i LOVE to cook and bake. homey stuff..and yes the fancy stuff. i'm lucky that my family enjoys gourmet food. food from around the world. i read cookbooks like novels and come up with my own ideas.
we eat very healthy. rarely go out. one...budget...opening a new club cost mega bucks. another...my famliy would rather eat my cooking.
hehehe...i can make a mess too. i'm pretty good at watching that. i have a huge kitchen, but i have been known to wipe it out. lol
no satalite here either. *sigh* i miss all the education channels... i wasn't very happy one day when grandmonkey was watching a kid show and they showed some rather rated r promos to the movie channels.
he loves the shows on pbs. he gets to pick 1 per day. we are having a blast with hooked on phonics right now. oh...and his guitar. lol.
do your girls help cook?
Idealist
09-27-2006, 12:20 AM
My girls like to help SOMETIMES - especially if it's dessert. My little girl wants to help more, but bless her heart, she's got ten thumbs in the kitchen. That's a southern thing, you know. The "bless her heart" thing. I read once that in the south you can say anything you want about anybody, as long as you follow it with "bless their heart". As in: Bubba is the most ignorant, smelly, selfish boy in the world, bless his heart!"
You mean they'd rather eat YOUR cooking than Mickey-D's?!? How in the world do you manage THAT? My son would eat a Big Mac for dessert. You must be a superb cook, indeed.
My son has been learning guitar for about a year now. He wants to teach it to me. Shoot, I might even let him. He is getting pretty good, as long as he doesn't try to sing. :o Nobody in my family can sing, and that most definitely includes me. Can you sing?
Curious
09-27-2006, 12:31 AM
lol..yes i sing. did the band thing. rock and roll. but lil'monkey..she is the singer. she has been in a few local productions and does the circuit singing at churches at christmas. we have a manger for her already. she is learning the keyboard and wants an elelctric guitar for christmas. i played wind instruments and could only play my mom's piano with my left hand. lol.
how does your son like playing the guitar? is he teaching himself? did he use any of the teaching dvd's? you should let him teach you. even just for fun. i don't have a clue on how to teach grandmonkey. he is a natural where music is concerned. he will probably teach me! lol
now darlin'...sweety...hon..... what makes you think that i might use "bless his heart"?;)
lmao...i have a bubba..he is 17. lol.

Yeah, he's teaching himself. He has a lot of musical talent. He played the drum in high school band, and his teacher said he was one of the best drum players he'd had in thirty years of teaching. He gets that from me. ;) I played drums in high school, too, and so did my brother. I came in second for drummer once at a state competition, and the band came in third overall. I almost got into playing in the Army, too, but then I got a re-assignment and it fell through. I had a real interesting job in the Army, but it was classified. I could tell ya, but then I'd have to hunt you down and...well, you know the rest! ;) I would have stayed in if some of the officers weren't such *!%&:()$, bless their hearts.
I've never really had a serious hobby :( . I've tried a lot of things, but everything I like is too expensive or unavailable. I used to collect stereo equipment, but when I started having kids it sounded the death-knell for that. Heck, I never wanted to be a mechanic. I was very good at it, mind you, but I only did it because it was a family business.
So, what are ya gonna bake up in the kitchen tonight? Cookies?!? Yum! Yum! Can I have some??? :o

The place has been empty without ya. Shoot, the whole set of forums has been mighty slow the last couple of days.
So, have you made a million bucks yet from your sale? Find any priceless antiques in your garage? Maybe you should put it all on e-bay and make a killing. Is the yard-sale a done deal, or are you gonna do it again tomorrow?
Curious
10-01-2006, 12:19 AM
i knew another night owl would hear my call. lol
ugh...hubby wants to have it tomorrow. not me. i'm tuckered out and feelin' the pain. but guess we will end up doing it again.
i need to do some ebay. find dout more about it. i really need to sell some of my curious george stuff. i have tons and tons of books. just lots of *stuff*. somehow all the relatives have used us as a storage place. then they tell us they don't want the stuff.
we really did well on the sale. have everything marked real low. some very very nice people came all weekend. here is alittle story about one man.
we had a men pull up who does lawn care. i kept thinking he looked familiar. he had 3 of his workers with him. he was buying them pants and shirts and atleast a dozen pair of hubby's old nike's and reeboks. then he was asking me about some of lil'monkeys dresses. like if they washed well, wrinkled...that sort of thing. one of his workers came up to me and told me they were for the man's daughter who is in a wheelchair and goes to lil'monkeys school. bingo..i know who he was!
lil'monkeys school had done a benifit bake sale to help out the famliy a few years ago when his got laid off. lost his insurance. :( i had him pick out whatever he thought his daughter would like. bagged it all up and wouldn't take a penny from him. he said his daughter will be so excited to have some of lil'monkeys cool clothes. ya know...pay it forward. :D
welll...shoot howdy...i missed y'all too! probably won't be up to par until monday or so.

That was very nice of you, Curious! :) :) :) I know it must have made that man feel good.
We ought to have us a yard-sale here, too. Our whole third-floor and attic are filled up with stuff we'll never use again. When we built our house we left the third floor unfinished, and we just use it for storage. There was a time when I would never have believed we would ever fill it up. But I guess it's like they say, your junk always grows to fill your space.
There's something to that whole e-bay thing. My dad used to run a thrift shop, and he put some of his items on there. He had an old doll he had been trying to sell for two dollars, and on e-bay he got several hundred for it. Of course all the stuff didn't sell that way, but still...
Ya been doin' any cookin' this weekend, or have ya' been too danged busy? I'm feeling hungry...:D

hubby and grandmonkey ordered chinese food. sheesh...we had our own buffett ..i swear.
but..oh my gosh i just about split a gut laughing so hard. i had fixed my plate...grandmonkey yells " EWWWWWW..MEME HAS A BRAIN ON HER PLATE!!!!" lolol it was general poes chicken ( yes...i know i spelled that wrong..but this fanny ain't moving to go to the kitchen to get the menu! LOL) they way they make it into balls...yes..it looked like i had a brain on my plate. needless to say we now have a new famliy name for for this dish...:p

I love Chinese food. Well, some of it anyway. I don't know that I'd like having a brain on my plate...
I had Subway for dinner again. A club sandwich. Been doin' too much of that lately. I don't know why, but I haven't felt like cooking at all this week. All I've been doing is sitting around being bored...:o I need to find me some good movies to watch.

remember the titans. always a good flick. and again...this fanny isn't getting up to go upstairs and find the name of another movie like that..but i's basketball. i haven't had the time to watch it yet..but the previews looked good..and it was on sale. ;)
comfort food. that is what you need. or how about making breakfast for dinner? do you ever make stratta? it's easy and kids love it. especially if you make it like big ole baked pan of french toast.
i have leftovers....but i ain't sharing my brains :p

Hi Kamie! :) Those sure are some cute kids! What's wrong with your little boy? I hope it's nothing too serious. I never thought I'd say this, but I kinda miss those nights of sitting up with my kids when they were babies. I'm sure it's just nostalgia though, and if I had to do it again I'd kick myself for saying that...
Curious...you can keep your brains all to yourself. Not that you don't have plenty of brains to spare, I'm sure...;) . But sparing and sharing are two different things.
I don't even know what stratta is. I've heard of Eric E'Strata. Is that his name? I do like fixing breakfast for supper sometimes, but usually it's scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and fried potatoes. Sometimes I do omelets. I've also fixed 'breakfast spaghetti' for dinner, where you mix the raw eggs & crumbled bacon or sausage with cooked noodles, then fry it up in a skillet. It's pretty good...:)
I thought Remember The Titans was a movie about highschool football. Am I thinking about a different movie? If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was a very good flick. We have about two hundred movies in our house, but most are kids movies. And anyway, I've seen them all several times. I need something new...
Kamie
10-01-2006, 01:51 AM
Trust me, it is nostalgia. Lack of sleep does things to your mind. Natie has bronchiolitis that is not going away. We have been to the ER twice and peditrician twice over this. If it does not get better by the AM, we are going back and demanding some answers.

i think hubby has spent the same dollars about 6x  we need new garage doors. a double and a single. round trip tickets for sistermonkey to come for christmas. a chunk towards the studio over the garage. new tires for both vehicles. handyman to help me do the stuff hubby keeps putting off. add it to the savings to add a tanning salon to the club.
me..i want just a little bot to buy a new sewing machine. mine is over 25 yrs old. a friend gave it to me 20 years ago when she got a new one. i make christmas prayer bears. it took me twice as long to make one today. my thinking is i could make twice as many...and make more money. :D plus i got a bit...well more than a bit frustrated with it today and swore!
so how are you today? get some sleep? nervous? did you ask about the tummy bloat and gas? warn the family? ;)
Idealist
10-03-2006, 12:56 AM
Yeah...I warned the family. So I suppose I can look forward to spending a day or two alone in my room when I get home. Maybe I should hang around in the kitchen?
Wow, sounds like ya'll spent the money even before you made it. Isn't that always the case? I've already spent my lottery winnings a hundred times, and I don't even play the lottery...
I'm not really all that nervous about the surgery. I just want to get the danged think over with is all. I've decided that if going through this doesn't fix anything, I'm going to do my best to pretend that nothing is wrong anymore. At least for a while. Wonder how that will go over? :o
I'm just sick and tired of thinking about it all. For the past four months it's been one medical visit after another, sometimes several times a week. I've been studied, probed and prodded like a UFO captive, and It's getting old. I'm sure there'll be a period of disappointment and depression if I strike out, so you might have to listen to me unload myself for a few days. But once I get that out, it's back to life for me!
If only I could get my peronal life back on track...but I'm afraid that would require a miracle...
So how have you been feeling lately, besides tired? You were having it a little rough last week. Has that gotten any better for you?
Curious
10-03-2006, 01:09 AM
you know i'll be here for you. either to celebrate or just to listen and try and cheer you up.
keep thinking positive. if this dr didn't think she could find an answer, i doubt she wants to see your insides or give you gas for the heck of it. hmmm find out if she had an older brother. she might just want to get back at all men ;)
same ole thing here for me. if you can't get your spouse or partner to listen, to try and understand...then you have to find others who do. i'm not asking him to "fix" me. i'm not asking him to do anything "for" me. just not make me feel like i am alone in this. kwim?
Curious
10-03-2006, 01:29 AM
please tell me that you aren't going alone? :(
Idealist
10-03-2006, 01:40 AM
Yeah...I know what you mean. I can't remember how many times I've been asked "what do you want from me!!!", when I really don't want anything at all. I've tried to explain that it's all about attidude, and that it's not any harder to do something cheerfully than it is to do it with an attitude, but that message never seems to get through. I know the Mrs. has had a rough time of her own because of my illness, but what I can never fathom is why she thinks that she's the ONLY ONE who has suffered? I mean, it sure ain't been no walk in the park for me!...
I read something once about how it's common for a person to blame their spouse for something like this instead of blaming the bad luck that caused it. I think that's what's happened to us. The sad part is that the wounds have cut so deeply by now that I'm not sure they can ever heal. I'm a romantic by heart, and I've never believed in divorce, so where does that leave me? My greatest fear is of waking up one day twenty years from now and realizing that I've totally wasted the last two decades of my life.
Okay, so I guess you can tell I'm feeling a little melancholy tonight...;) Maybe that's because you haven't been here to keep me on my toes! :D Not to embarrass ya, dear, but I always look for your name whenever I log onto the forums these days. That's because I know you're always good for a pleasant bit of conversation...

if the hint of hope is there...work on it. but ( my belief) is that we get one shot at this. i ain't gonna blow it and spend my life lonely with somebody. kids deserve happy parents.
forgiveness. it is hard. forgetting..well...that just doesn't really happen. but you have to forgive yourself first. even if it is for allowing things to change and sour. and forgive the mrs. she is human. and her hubby..her love, is hurting and she can't make him all better. she is a mom. that is what they do.
it takes two. and it seems like when one is trying the other isn't. lol ok..so that wasn't really funny. ironic? do you get defensive? i do. jealous of the time always spent with others. the club..clients...the monkeys...why no one on one with me? sheesh...i'm nice funny...furry....:p

As far as the spouse not understanding, I had that problem for 2 years until he saw me after spinal surgery. He was there when I was throwing up everywhere from the anesthesia to them getting me out of bed the first time. It wasn't until that moment that I think he finally got it. He rarely would go to doc visits with me and now if I ask he will go willingly. I tell him my memory is shot so I need an extra set of ears.:p He went through the phase of trying to fix me but he finally got it that I am never going to be like I was before. It was a hard long battle filled with many tears but we knew that we had plans to grow old together--I think I am beating him even though he is 7 years older--and once we realized how easy it is to lose someone you love we have clung to each other like never before. We both lost our moms in the last 3 years while I was going through all the medical stuff and as they say good things can come out of tragedy that is what happened to us. My hope for all of us in this same boat is to realize just how valuable it is to have a safe place to fall when life gets you down. Just my rambling thoughts and I hope they help...Sue

No sleep for the sleepless. Can't seem to find a way to get me any shut-eye this evening. It's almost not worth trying by now, since I gotta be up at five in the morning anyway. I have to be at the hospital at a quarter after seven.
Yeah, my wifie is gonna be there, at least for a while. I don't think she's really looking forward to it, though. But hey, neither am I! ;)
It's gonna mean a lot to me knowing that you're thinking of me, dear. You and my long-time best friend are the only ones who I truly believe really are. He says he's gonna come over and baby-sit me after I get home tomorrow, and might even take off from work thursday to spend the day with me. What a pal! We've been best friends for about twenty years now, so I guess you could say we're pretty close.
Well, no matter how much I tried to pretend that this surgery wasn't gonna bother me, it seems I mighta been a little wrong about that. I ain't scared of it or anything, but I do feel a little trepidation inside. Oh well, by this time tomorrow it will all be over and done with, right?
I'm sorry I missed you earlier here on the forums, but to tell the truth I was hiding out from the world this afternoon. I feel a lot better now, except for the fact that I'm so darned tired. If I'm up to it, I will definitely sign in and let you know how things went, and if I found out anything or not, okay?
As for the gas masks, I figure the family will get along survivably without them. Might even get 'em out of the house for a change, outside where they can enjoy some healthy fresh air. Maybe I'M the one who;s gonna need some assistance with breathing... 'Course, I know from experience that the gas masks don't work for that. Once when I was in the military there was a sargeant who was notorious for his lethal rear-end rumbles. One time he cut-loose in the front of a truck I was driving along with the chief, and it was deadly, I can tell you. We both donned our military style gas-masks, but unfortunately they did absolutely nothing to protect us from the smell. Maybe somebody oughtta patent that as a lethal weapon! :D
You know, you've turned out to be a very good friend to me, girl. I hope you know how much I appreciate that! You take care of yourself, and I'll talk to you again at the soonest...:) :) :)

Hi Idealist, another nightowl here.
Maybe spend the next short while until you have to go to surgery doing deep breathing, or quiet things, to try to settle your nerves? They say nerves are perfectly normal before surgery, but they're still not fun to deal with.
I do that too, think that "this time tomorrow it will be all over with". I thought I was the only person who did that. But I see you do it too. :p
Sounds like you've got a good pal there to take care of you afterwards.
Best of luck for your surgery and I will be hoping and wishing that it goes very well for you. Check in when you can... I want to know what you were dreaming about during surgery. :)

Idealist
10-05-2006, 01:36 AM
Well, as far as I know the lady didn't keep any sovenirs for herself, though considering my great fortune and fame one can never be too sure! :D
To tell the truth, I feel like I got hit by a Mack truck earlier today. I didn't know it was supposed to hurt this bad getting a laparoscopy, but maybe that's because of the problems I had already.
But guess what, Curious? No gas!!!! Not even a tiny little one-cheek-sneak on my part. So how's that for a man who has control of his own bod?
Ya'll's happy faces were the last things on my mind as I went under, but I can't honestly say that I dreamed about anything. Seemed like one moment I was making a bet with the anesthologist that I would be able to count backward from ten before I went out, and the next moment she was standing on the other side of the table with her hand out.
Of course, as you might guess, I'm more than a little down-in-the-dumps about the outcome. But the truth is it really hasn't hit me yet. I'm sure I'll have all day tomorrow to sit around and feel sorry for myself, but for now I'm still pretty groggy and light-headed. Heck, If I didn't keep correcting my typing every two seconds it would look an awful like like yours, Curious!
Thank both of you sincerely for thinking about me today. And you too, Hanna & Alffe. I was hoping a few of you would still be up this evening.

They asked me if I wanted any pictures, but I told them a description would do just fine. It was all pretty hectic anyway, 'cause I got there a half-hour late, and the surgeon was busily tapping her toes impatiently. I hope she didn't pull any little tricks on me while I was under just to get even. Come to think of it...there's been this weird ticking noise coming from inside my abdomen for the past several hours...
Well, it's finally starting to sink into me now that I'm slowly waking up that I have no idea what the next step is going to be. I'm supposed to go back to see the surgeon again in ten days to discuss possibilities for pain-management, but I don't like the sound of that. I really don't like pills much. I think I've decided that for the next few months I'm going to try to pretend that nothing is wrong with me anymore. I'm going to live my life just as if everything were normal, well at least as best I can. In other words, for the forseeable future I'm going to quit trying to figure out whaat the problem is, and just take each day as it comes. Anyone up for a trip to Disneyworld or Water-Country USA? :D :D :D

Probably good to rest up, recoup your energies and when you decide to look into it again you will feel a bit more energized. It's so tough when they can't figure things out, when we realize that medicine has a lot left to know.
If you had any of Curious' brownies before surgery, that might be why you're ticking... she's used to making her 'special' brownies for the incarcerated prisoners and tends to add a little 'sumpin special' to them, the more technologically advanced version of the file in the cake. ;) She might have given you the wrong treat by mistake. :D

i opted for a few bagel chips. i don't even know why. stress. yep. that is it.
had a stressful dinner. watched numbers. i love that show. i was relaxed after. then right back to stress. woohoo. hehehe..di dyou know helping people is a "silly waste of time"? i sure didn't. i even googled it. not what i came up with. ;)
so...you had better eat something. soup? broth? jello? beans? oatmeal choccy chip cookies would be good for you.
grandmonkey is on an oatmeal cookie kick right now. i make them BIG. full of nuts...rolled oats...wheatgerm....raisins and other dried fruit. he dips them in applesauce. then runs all over playing batman or spiderman...burns off all the calories..and does it again. all in 10 minutes. LOL but....i am much better at covering him with the spiderman silly string than he is covering me!! :p

I've seen your name around quite a bit over the past few years, and we've spoken from time to time, but it always seemed that we moved in slightly different circles. I think it would be wonderful if that could change!
I've always thought you seemed like such a thoughtful person. You always seem to listen, and take the time to respond to everyone's post. That is such an important quality to have! Too often I think people feel left out here simply because the regular folks seem to talk around them.
Anyway, I'm really pleased to make your acquaintance, and you can always feel free to drop me a line or a message any old time you like! Take care, and best of wishes.
Now for my pal Curious...!!! You out there swingin' around in the jungle tonight, girl? Me thinks I got a glimpse of you with a big ol' bunch of bananas strapped onto your back! Hi there, Night Owls of the world! I know I'm signing on mighty late this evening (or early this morning, depending on how you look at it!). So have you all gone off to roost already? Do owls roost? I guess that's something I should know!
Curious, I am so sorry that you were having such a painful day, and I wasn't there to try to cheer you up. Are you feeling any better now? Was it the same old pain you usually feel, or was it something different? It really was nice of hubby to offer to fix you dinner, but I do know how that can end up sometimes. Most of us guys aren't known for leaving the kitchen in good shape after our culinary adventures. Hey, we're hunter-gatherers, remember? Organization is not normally our strongest suit. :o
Unfortunately, I'm still not eating much myself. I just don't have an appetite anymore these days. I don't know how much of it is psychological, and how much is physical. Either way, I know I gotta get it under control. I weigh less right now than I have in twenty years! Maybe you need to start putting a little extra choccy in those cookies of yours for me, and send me a couple dozen...
I'm really sorry I seem to have missed you tonight, and probably everyone else. I'm feeling mighty lonely on this early monday morning...:o

Curious, I hope you are feeling better. Looks like you maybe haven't been around today. Good thing I was baking ... and I have banana chocolate chip muffins to share.

Chocolate-chip muffins? Sniff-sniff-sniff... That's almost sure to bring Curious to window at least. My poor, ill-feeling friend. Life is always so much lonelier around here when she is kept away.
Come on now, all you other gals and guys! I can see by the huge number of views on this thread that a bunch of you are out and about. So why aren't you dropping in for a brief visit once in a while? No one here bites very hard, I promise, and we let go pretty fast.
I would love too have someone else to talk to whenever Curious is under the weather for a change. So how 'bout it???

I hope you are well. :)

Yeah, Scrabble, I noticed later that you and I must have posted at almost the exact same time. It's a bummer when that happens, huh?
But I check in here almost every night, so you're bound to run into me whether you want to or not...:D
Things are going fairly well for me right now. How about you?
I'm getting kinda worried about Curious, though. I don't remember the last time I went this long without hearing her hoot-owl voice. Methinks I miss the little rascal...;)

Idealist,
I'm glad things are going fairly well for you.
I'm feeling rather full after having Thanksgiving dinner with my 2 kiddos tonight. I've enjoyed my long weekend ... and I'm also glad that it means I only have 4 days of work this week!
The sun was shining when I walked to the grocery store with my son this afternoon. Beautiful fall leaves on the trees, a nice breeze, and the company of my 16 yr old. Before shopping we went into a coffee shop for a pumpkin spice latte with a pumpkin biscotti. Yum!
After dinner we watched Prison Break together. We are actually an episode behind so we watched the one I had taped last week. It's a show that we like to watch together so I tape it when my kids are at their Dad's house or when we aren't all together.
Well I suppose I shouldn't be up too late tonight ....
cheers!

Hey, Scrabble...:) Is that like scrabble the game, or is there some interesting story behind your name?
You kinda threw me for a loop there talking about Thanksgiving dinner. Had me worried that I'd overslept for a couple of months and missed my favorite holiday...! Did you just decide to celebrate early, or do ya'll have Thanksgiving on a different day up there in Canada? If you do, do you still eat turkey and all the trimmings, or is that something different, too?
I've always wanted to visit Canada. I've heard there are some very beautiful places up there. I admire Canadians too, with their peaceful ways and sophisticated world view. Am I right about that? Tell me a little about where you live. What's it like to be a Canadian?
And CURIOUS!!! Where have you been hiding, girl? Don't you know that you have a responsibility to check in here every day? I've missed ya, you know. Gosh, I don't know how I'll stand it when you go away for vacation and are gone for a week or more! ;)
So, how has that pain of yours been acting? I hope it hasn't been too awful bad. And I hope you're doing better now. Did you even get a chance to take a break for a day or two? Probably not, knowing you. You work too much, you know. Aren't monkeys supposed to just hang around and eat bananas?

Hi Idealist,
How I got my name .... I registered at OBT several years ago and I just kept trying and trying to come up with an original username that wasn't already taken. My kids happened to be playing Scrabble and they were asking me for help with coming up with words using the letters on their trays ... Then it came to me -----> hmmmmmm, I wonder if "scrabble" has been used? Ta-da!
Canadian Thanksgiving is always in October and yes, we do have turkey and all the trimmings. (Hmmm, ~scrabble wonders if she should have tried to pull your leg and told you that we eat moose??)
Well, I am certainly glad to be Canadian and I live in a very beautiful part of the country - on Vancouver Island just off the west coast, quite close to Seattle. Mild weather, beautiful flowers, surrounded by the ocean ...
And where do you live?
Yoo-hoo! Curious!! I'm wondering about you too and hoping you are doing okay. (((gentle hugs)))
cheers,
Curious

If you HAD told me you ate moose for Thanksgiving, I think I might possibly have doubted you. If I hadn't doubted you, then I'm sure my next thought would have been that Canadians must be very "unique".
I hail from central Virginia, about an hour or so from the state capital. I was actually born in the mountains of West Virginia, but to be perfectly honest I've never regretted moving away from there. The countryside was honestly beautiful, but the people were...well..."different". ;)
I love where I live now. It's a small and friendly community, but not too far from the city should I need to go there. The only place I've lived that I liked as well was in southwestern Germany, but I felt too much like a foreigner there. Heck, I guess that's because I was!
I've read a lot about Canada, though...it's geography, people and politics. It's a very interesting country. I'm glad you like it there. It sounds like where you live is a beautiful place to be. But you still haven't told me what it's like to be a Canadian. I know...it's a loaded question, right? People interest me, though...especially by their personal philosophies. I had a pen-pal once for a while who lived in Canada, but he wasn't very descriptive, and his vocabulary was...well...limited. You seem more focused and intelligent.
I don't know what has become of Curious. She left me a very short PM a little while ago, but now she's disappeared again. Must be those pressing moderator duties of hers...:D

As I recall, Miss George, it was suggested that you do both...take something for the pain AND get some rest. Along with a couple of other things. But have you actually rested between all of that driving, cooking and cleaning? Somehow I doubt it.
And if ya ain't careful, Dearie, you'll wake up one morning looking something like that blue boo-thing you scared us with a moment ago...

heck..they all better figure out that if i end not being able to do for them...to do it for themselves! i wonder if they could work on that BEFORE? :p

I'm just popping in to say 'hi' but I can't stay online now as my daughter needs my computer to work on homework. (10pm here now)

Yeah...if you're a girl. I'm sorry, but there's something a little disturbing about a guy who gets the giggles...
"Screaming Meme" huh? Now THAT'S a sexy name! Does kinda go with the picture, though...:D . But you don't have to worry about that. I remember seeing your picture when you posted it before.
Which reminds me. I've been trying to learn how to post a picture on this website, and I'm having no kind of luck at all. I don't want to post it as an avitar or whatever, out where everyone can see it. I just want to be able to add it to a couple of PMs, so a few people can see what a frightful mug I have...:D Do you think you could tell me how to do that, what with all your obvious expertise and all? I promise I won't send one to scare you unless it's Halloween!
So you still haven't given me the scoop on your latest "troubles". It must have been pretty bad for you to take something for it. But nothing too serious, I hope. I worry about you because you're not the kind of woman who ever worries about herself, and that just ain't good enough.

the easiest way to add a picture is to host it on www.photobucket.com
just upload it. then copy and paste the img code to your reply.
whaaalaaa..picture. i added one of lil'monkey on the survivors of suicide forum on the doodster thread.

If I were Superman, I'd put on my tights and cape and fly over there to zap those nasty bugs with my laser-vision. But unfortunately, all I can do is sympathize, and send you my best thoughts and wishes.
You poor thing! I'm SO glad that your little boy is finally better, but that isn't helping you much right now, is it? I wish I could make them well through my strength of willpower!
On the bright side, though, at least I get the chance to hear from you again! Do you know how hard it is to find any company at three o'clock in the morning... Of course I'm just kidding with you, though. I'd much rather have you able to sleep.
Maybe it's time to wake up hubby and tell him it's HIS turn to keep the watch!
