Good Morning All!
It's a beautiful crisp day today in MN. It's supposed to hit 80 though, so it's going to be grand!

I have a dinner and a movie date tonight, so I hope the body holds out. It's been holding it's own I guess.

I had my Mayo appointment last week and I don't start all my appointments till October 5th, so I guess I hafta hang on till then.

I hope everyone else is doing as good as can be expected, under the circumstances! Come on in and tell us what's happening in your little corner of the world. Let's get this rollcall back on track--whether you come in the morning, afternoon, or night--hey even 2 or 3 times a day--let's talk!!!

Hope to hear from everybody!!!
Hugs,
Jan

Good morning Jan from East Tn!!
I think we will be having the same kind of weather as you describe:)
I decided to not weigh myself this morning since I noticed I am getting the scale addiction going (this is a weight loss thread...right???.......I am sorry if I screwed up:confused: )
I am debating on whether or not to go to my gym and try the pool walking out today....have lots of pain and kind of feeling iffy about taking that step, like what if it makes it worse??
I tried to uoload a avator I used on another board and it said it was too big...wish I knew out to make things like that work!
I decided to join this group here since my other place sometimes go down and I really do much better when involved with a support group.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here!:)

I am new to this weight loss forum, but not new to BT. I'll give a brief history.

I am 28 yrs old and I have dystonia. In 2003 I had deep brain stimulation for my dystonia. Ever since surgery I have been packing on the pounds, over 40 :( When Liz, AKA Lizard posted about her weight loss she inspired me.

I already eat healthy, but my metabolism needs a jump start. So I walk every morning and evening. Right now I am walking a total of a mile. Which is a miracle for me seeing that before DBS, I was in an electric scooter.

Lots of water, I think is the key to success.

Suzie

(this is a weight loss thread...right???.......I am sorry if I screwed up:confused: )
You're not the one that screwed up Junie--'twas me--well, OK I had a blonde moment. I got a phone call and forgot to remember to add a paragraph.... :D

I normally did a virtual walk at 11am central every day with some of the gals on here, but since BT went down, I hafta admit, I haven't done it. I need to get back into the swing of things again.

Welcome Suzie!!! Cool! Glad you're here! What a story! I am so happy for you that you are out of the scooter!! Way to go honey!! Do you walk at a certain time, or just whenever in the morning and at night? I need someone to kick me in the butt to do it I guess; account to someone......I know, I know....or maybe the virtual walk will again start......

Although I did have a bright spot at Mayo. I lost 10 pouinds since last year, so that helps. Now, if I could only get back on track with the walking.....

Anyway, I just wanted to pop back in and tell you Junie, that you're right--oh, and did you read what I posted to you in the CP forum?? I think we were posting at basically the same time---TOO FUNNY!!

I also wanted to say hi to Suzie! If you guys want to be a "cheerleader" send me a pic and I'll make you one. Oh, Junie--send me your pic and I'll shrink ya (don't ya wish it was that easy in real life!!) for your avatar. Not sure when I'll get around to it though. With my dinner and a movie tonight. Priorities ya know!! hehehe

Hugs,
Jan aka HC (Head Cheerleader)

i'm here!

beautiful day here in texas! i got my exercise done while watching the sun come up. i have an exercise room set up on the back patio. nice view...a tv....and a dip in the pool to finish up.

all before the monkeys wake up!

did you go do the pool walking junie? it might help take the stress off. you are only 10% of your body weight in the pool. maybe don't worry about too much walking, but floating ( if your club allows noodles or other floatation devices) and relaxing? i hope your pain lessens.

suzie, what wonderful news about being out of the scooter! and yes...water water!

i see you are in mn jan...i lived there for 4 years. lots of family there.

Hi --

(((((((Junie))))))) re the scale addiction....

sorry about the pain!

I'm here in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and it's lovely out. I don't think I can walk ten minutes... maybe. I was walking around in a circle in my garden, and even that tiny amount of exercise helped. (Past tense is BAD.) But things have been so stressful. I sold my rental and paid my home mortgage current. Then I began having the work on my condo completed... my condo was built over part of an old privy pit, that's where I got the hydrogen sulfide nerve damage from.

I paid for close to $5,000 worth of work and listed it with a woman at Sotheby's. A couple weeks later the woman called me and said another Realtor in her office said he'd bought it at the foreclosure sale.

It had been foreclosed and sold and no one had sent me any of those papers... so the Realtor got this totally beautifully freshly painted, freshly landscaped, condo for $85,000 and he got all my equity -- I'd been paying on my condo for 17 or 18 years. And I'd had the whole pit excavated which cost another 12,000 back in 2003.

That was bad, but having the court deny my Constitutional right to due process, to be told, to be notified, that's what made me so sick. I could barely get from my door to my chair under my ponderosa...

From experience I know that I'm better off resting when I get a lot of pain and muscle tightening than trying to exercise... exercise makes it much much worse... because of the tetanus nerve damage I guess.

So that's where I'm at... I've done an appeal, now. And when I'm a little more recovered I'm going to do an adversary proceeding in bankruptcy court against Deutsche Bank. But for now, the main thing is getting better. (And of course I would get dental problems at the same time.)

Oh... that's a good idea about shrinking the picture. I can do that too, because I have a digital camera and it came with a program that can do that.
You can send it to me, and I can do it today...

I usually go walking in the morning around our apt complex and sometimes in the evening. My morning walk happens whenever I roll out of bed, well at least until I get a job.

Hi~
I went to the "User CP" and "Edit Avatar" and found this:
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
That should help ya!
Hugs,
Jan :)

Hi, great minds and all.

I went there last night and found that. I made a few avatars that are on some thread...

darn it. I forget where. Maybe in the social forum... whereever that question was also raised.

I hate the inherent confusion I live with now.... They were pretty nice, I thought. Did you see them?

Where are they, she moaned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here they are... they were in the 500 members thread... no idea why...

You do take methylcobalamin, right?

It helps... it just doesn't restore things to Perfect... at least not over night.

Hello all, I am Nancy and one of the first members of the weight forum at the original BT. (Jan dragged me kicking and screaming into it. :D Just kidding.) It was so much fun and we were really rolling when - POOF - and we all know the rest.

I am known to some as BS which does not stand for the regular BS but means Big Sis. Since I am older (53) than Miss Jan, I am her Braintalk Big Sis and she is my Lil Sis. We met on Braintalk and have formed one of the most special friendships I have ever had. (Wipe the tear away.)

I have Small Fiber Peripheral Neuropathy in my feet, Fibromyalgia and a bunch of other stuff. Since the Neuropathy is so bad, I cannot excercise. I even have to be very careful in the pool. So I found Chair Excercise and CHAIR DANCING!!!! I haven't used them lately but now I found new encouragement.

Welcome to all of you, those you have been on the old "Babes" forum and those who found this new one. (Thx LS)

Gotta run - see you soon!

Hi kiddies~
I was just wondering to myself and to Big C (ConsiderThis) if/how we should introduce ourselves Should we do it here, or should we start a thread, and those who already have, could copy it to that thread so the new people would find it and introduce themselves if they want? I bet I could talk DocJohn maybe into making it a stickie for us, if everyone thinks it's a good idea that is. What does everyone think?

Thank you for starting this. I was active on the headache forum at the old BT. Anyway, I did Weight Watchers last year around t his time. I lost 25 pounds and have kept it off. However, the last few months have been difficult. I'm still hanging in there, but could use support. I don't count points anymore, but I watch my portions, avoid bread and pasta, eat sugar in moderation and exercise three to four times a week. It's really worth it. :) I'll support ya, please support me. Hang in there everyone.

J: OMG, how did you manage to loss all that weight with all your spinal problems? Please tell me!!!!!!!!!!!! Your dx's sound just like mine and my PM dr. told me to lay off the exercise, swimming was o.k. though. I've gained 30 pounds since crap all started.

You sound like you know the key to motivation!

Nice to meet you from Texas!

Long time no see. You have gained 30 pounds. Well this is where you belong then. I was an original, I guess. I was Called: BC, I forgot what it means. I just think of: Before Christ. I feel like it right now after pulling some weeds with many stiches in me, both front and back. Yes, I have had surgery again. These stiches are to come out Monday. I looked this evening and they are red. I have a paper that says to call if they look like that. I am otherwise ok, so no calling for me.

It's nice to see you here Linda. We have always had a ball chating about weight and the tips are really neat. I really liked the one someone else gave once about washing, draining green grapes, then freezing them. If not in the freezer to long, they are delicious. You would think they would freeze hard, but not for a couple days or so. Count me in, wherever we sign in at. I want to loose at least 30 pounds. I have lost almost that, but it's so easy to put back on.
Billie:)

Hi Billie:

What in the world are you doing pulling weeds????!!!!! You're to soon out of surgery for that. That is something else I've had to give up, and that was hard. Shortly after my 2nd fusion I was out chopping tree roots and boy did I pay for it. Why are we so stubborn? How are you doing besides that, I posted to you in the thread where I heard your husband had passed away. I'm so sorry to hear this, something else to add to your struggles. Please know you've been in my thoughts.

As far as weight loss, yes as soon as I start losing the weight something sets me back. I have to lose this weight, it's killing me emotionally and physically. I could really lose about 50, but 30 would be back to where it's maintainable, at least I think so.

I love those frozen grapes. I have some in the fridge now, I think I"ll pop some in for a treat tomorrow.

Linda

I am worrying about your red stiches...

Infections can be so wearing on the system...

Can you take a couple of grams of vitamin C, or is there some reason you shouldn't do that. It always helps me with infections... though mine have tended to not be so serious,,, kitty scratch type things.
