HELP! Does this look like Chiari I to you??

Hello All. I am new to this forum. I have had a surge or neurological symptoms that started in Mid February (with my first trip to the ER). I just had my first MRI on my brain and the Radiologist's report said it was normal. I do not feel normal. I have severe ringing in one ear, one dialated eyeball, eyelids that don't want to stay closed and flutter badly when I try, major headaches in the morning and evening, dizziness when I bend over then stand up, numbness, tingling and pain throughout my extremeties and back, digestive issues, emotional issues, ........ and the list goes on. After getting the MRI report I decided to review the films myself on the DVD they gave me. After many days of searching through MRI images online I found some photos of Chiari I. If you are familiar with the disorder, please take a look at my photos and let me know if you agree. Also, I need some advice...........my doctor seems to want to go off of the Radiologists report only, but I do not agree with it. I am working on getting into the Cleveland Clinic Neurology Department as I live nearby. Is there anything I can do at home to help alleviate the symptoms? have you ever had surgery on your head?? i looked at your scans it to me it looked like maybe you had had part of the bone removed already?? failing that it does look a bit like chiari to me

Get yourself tested for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. People with EDS tend to have many symptom in spite of a minimal herniation

Looking at your photos, it doesn't look to me like you have Chiari. Its really difficult to tell from a photo without being able to measure it though. Most Chiari's are only 5-15 mm herniations. Its not very big thus difficult to see just by looking at it. It seems like you need to follow up with this though. It took me over a year and a half of going into the doctor almost once a week before they finally figured out what was wrong with me. I know it can be frustrating but just keep at it until you get answers! I wish you the best of luck!

I couldn't tell you if that is a chiari or not. I have Chiari Malformation Type 1. I've had the surgery. I also have syringomyelia. My regular doctor told me when I was twelve and had a severe onset of symptoms that everything was fine. The radioligist said everything was fine. 7 years later I saw a neurologist and finally someone figured out what was wrong with me. And they helped alleviate the symptoms.

See a neurologist.

Also, for me, straining and rushes of adrenaline/blood flow made it worse. Like, 100 times worse. If you think you might have a chiari, lay off the heavy lifting and sprinting. Also, try to chill out. Stress can't help this. Relax as best as you can and take pain killers sparingly if you need them. Really, for me, I just couldn't yell, strain, lift heavy things, sprint, or have strong adrenaline rushes and I'd be mostly okay.

On the coronal view ( the view that looks like you are looking through the back of the head) It looks as though you have something with the intensity signal of bone which is causing a slight indentation on the right side of the base of your cerebellum. It does not look like you have what would be considered a C1M though, as your cerebellar tonsils sit above the level of the foramen magnum ( the hole at the base of your skull). I would consult with a different neurologist.
