Greg-

You mentioned that you had a positive experience with that unit. I was wondering if you would go into more detail.

The day i used the GaitAid glasses I was having more than usual difficulty with my gait. I put on the glasses and saw the projected image which is no more than a black and white tile pattern which appeared to to be out in front of me. I was then instructed to walk down a long hallway. After six maybe seven steps, I felt my legs relax??? and I started to achive my normal stride. After about 15 maybe 20 more steps I was walking with my normal stride. This is something that has not happened in 7 or 8 years. Even after I took the device off, I was still able to walk with my normal stride for about an hour. I don't understand for sure how this happens, but it does.

Again, if it were not for the high cost, I would own one of these.

I know you had little experience with the thing, but as your best guess, would there be a similar benefit using a grid made of heavy wire suspended at the waist in the position of the tray carried by a cigarette girl in an old movie?:)

If there is a need for that receding perspective, do you think that could be done by tipping the "tray" up and elongating and deforming it?

Rick,
Just my thoughts. At waist level I don't think it would do much good. You need to be able to look at the grid while walking. If you walk with your head down it might help some. You also need to be able to see what is out in front of you so you don't fall over something. A tray of the type you are talking about would block your vision.
