Who will volunteer to try this? I would, if only I didn't have to pay for it. Think it could be reimbursable or at least a tax deduction?

Amazing!

I have not been able to find out how much this chair is! But I do think one's neuro would be willing to write a script for it, and then you could get a tax deduct for it. Heck, if folks are able to write off their swimming pools, surely we could get a tax break for this (heaven knows, we wouldn't buy one of these if it weren't for PD!!)

.................. $4,999.95! It is on the web site of the store mentioned in the article.

...or smells like a duck, hang on to your wallet.

However, that doesn't mean it is a bad idea. Found an interesting pdf at www.tlu.ee/files/arts/1186/olavs6dccb10c9ead5ddd2405c1d0c2e58365.pdf

Also there are a range of "gaming chairs" that might be worth a google.

The chair is described at
http://www.hammacher.com/publish/11040.asp

We have seen the beneficial effects of vibration before. I have not looked for the threads, but I looked at Power Plant I think it was called.
This is a machine that stretches and contracts all the muscles in the body when you stand on the platform.
There does seem to be something in the healing properties of vibration and massage.

Lee Bender has a website but I haven't found his mention of the chair yet.

RD42,
We are getting mixed here between the electrical and vibrational stimulation. This thread started with the vibrational or massage stimulation, raised by Lurking, and I posted the details of the chair above, as used by Lee Bender.

The reference you quote
http://nexneuro.com/blog/?p=879
is another report on the invasive operation by Duke University to attach electric leads to the spine. This was the work that gave Rick the idea to try external electric stimulation of the spine in the thread
"Electrostimulation of the spine seems to work."
Paula drew attention to the Duke electrical work in her post,
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread82552.html
on 27th March.
Hope this helps.
Ron

I was a bit confused, Lee Benders website mentions nothing of the chair, but talks of the Nexneuro. I wonder how to verify the chair article.

Thanks

Sorry for the slow response, I would like to find out more. I'm in Peoria, not too far away. My Doctor was at ENH and is now somewhere south.

That's for adding validity to the article.

Hi Linda,
Also thanks for your input, much appreciated.
Could you please give us some details about the chair. Is it massage only, or does it additionally have vibration. If vibration also, what frequency range etc?
Best wishes
Ron

Hi Robert, just answered Ron and Ibby by email, Peoria is not far, any relatives in the Chicago (schaumburg) area that u could stay with and try the lounge for yourself? I got involved because of seeing what shape dad was in before the holidays 2008, then starting the lounge in January 2009, its a difference of day and night. my boys just put a stationary spin cycle together for him yesterday...so now he is riding that too!! Dad has a 4 point plan that he sticks too...the lounge to feel better, exercise, nutrition & supplements, then the will to feel better...motivation. if you would like to talk to him ...not a problem...he would love it...just let me know....if there is any way to get up to schaumburg...let me know and i will hook u up...they have been contacting local support groups letting them know that they are welcome to come in and try for a pilot study, as to see if they will have the same positive results as Dad did....take care, linda my email *

Hi Ron, just emailed u too.... the lounge is a combination of motion, vibration, and music therapy. Go to the NexNeuro website and it will give you all the details and you can see a virtual "tour" of the lounge. Any questions that you have please don't hesitate to ask.... this is all about getting some "relief" and if Dad can answer any of your questions just ask, he would love to share what he has learned..... he has alot of information about the lounge, exercise, nutrition and supplements, and motivation....thats what it takes!!

sincerely, linda

Hi there, Lees daughter here, was just answering some emails and posting, Medicare will pay for vibrational and musical therapy, you do need a script. As i have mentioned in other posts, NexNeuro is looking for people who are willing to volunteer for a pilot study to see if they will get the same positive effects Dad did. If you are near Chicago, or have relatives in the area where you could stay, contact me and I will hook you up with them. Dad has been at the gym 3 times since Saturday and riding his new stationary spin cycle last night and today, the lounge has turned his life around! any questions please, please ask, i want to see others feel like Lee does!! sincerely, linda

llbl thank you the information.

Everyone else if you are ever in Schaumberg, IL give Marge at NexNeuro a call, 847-547-5102 and ask about trying the chair.

I tried the chair and will try it again on my next trip to Chicago. It was quite relaxing. Afterward, my legs felt more relaxed and circulation felt good.

One of the exercises in a ti-chi routine i do is a shake body ex.
It lasts for half a minuite starting with shaking the hands, arms, hips and chest. I acknowledge that it does me good and after reading this thread I think I will do the shake for a longer period.
Has any one tryed similar shaking exercise ?
