Mamafigure:
I'm from the Braintalk1 Parkinson's forum. It's great to "hear a familiar voice" again. I wish that I had had the email address of at least one other member of the old forum; I coudn't talk to anyone!
I'm glad I finally found this place. I am concerned about John Lester, though; not responding to emails and not updating the message page isn't like him. Does anyone have any current knowledge of JL?
How does one start a new forum for Parkinson's?

The admin has to create new forums. I'm sure if asked nicely he/she would be willing to put in a new forum for Parkinsons ;)

I have the feeling that John is working so hard that he hasn't had the time to respond to anyone. This blow-out sounds like it must have involved a lot of software and hardware.
If I remember right, not only has John spent all this time working on the forum, but he has used his own resources.
I wouldn't be surprised if the final answer as to the return of the forum as it was will be a slow process that involves patience on all sides, as it looks like everything must have been wiped out and that sounds like money. Asking for that kind of money involves grants and/or getting approved by a long list written on red tape.
I really don't know anything, this is just my perception.
I am from the PD and neuro board. In its absence, lets just meet in one of the more general forums and gather others there.

Actually the biggest hold up is that Mr. Lester is traveling for most of August. The crash really did come at the worst possible time. He told me about 3 days before that moderator retreat thingy that he was going to be gone most of August (I asked about updating).
I should've went to SF to meet him (only a hour away)...but figured since I wasn't a moderator that probably wouldn't have been a good idea.

Some alternative forums have given BT up for GONE!
Can someone get to John or another to update the note dated 7/20? Even a new date would avoid negative speculations.
BTW HI! YOU GUYS! - j

Hi nide44 ~
Yep, I do. Got to the upper left side of this page, in the blue bar where you see User CP. Click on User CP. Look on the left side again under Settings & Options. The 5th one down is Edit Avatar. I did a check and it seems right now we can't have an Avatar as this is what I get:
No Avatar Specified Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post.
Do not use an avatar
Note: if you have a custom avatar selecting this option will delete it.
Sorry I guess I couldn't help.

Hello everyone
I was so pleased to learn of this forum. A heartfelt thanks to you, Dr. John.
I am from the bipolar board, but boy, it's really good to see someone from the anything board, eh, at this point? ;) (Hi Rose, I remember you!)
lets hope the braintalk issues get worked out. i have mixed feelings of awe and dismay about many aspects of this incident.

any pals from the als forum here ?
I finally arrived home!
Thanks to my son, who added me in here so quickly. He was quite busy,
but did a good job. And thanks to Sprint for upgrading our area with
digital (from analog) finally.... so I could use my cellphone more
efficiently. This is the first year of good cell phone coverage!
It will take me a while to read up here, digest all this info on the new board.
Most of it is making me a bit http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/mrsdoubtyre/AHHH_runningman-1.gif
