Yoo hoo, Bryanna!! I hope you can help me with this.

In the past I've had sensitive teeth at times. Now, they're sensitive again, all of a sudden. I've noticed it especially in the past week or two. Is this a seasonal thing? Why would it start now, all of a sudden?

I haven't changed my diet. I did stop taking one of my medications (Tysabri). Would that do it?

sinus infections 1 year after tooth extraction

I had my 2nd molar removed about a year ago by an oral surgeon. After the tooth extraction I had a huge hole going through into my sinus cavity. (which my doctor neglected to tell me). Everytime I took a drink of water or brushed my teeth I would literally have water pouring out of my nose. I went back in for a second surgery to repair the hole, he removed a big chunk of my gum and tried to stitch my cheek to my gum in order to close the hole (which ripped away after the surgery because it tugged everytime I opened my mouth). After the second surgery I began having extreme pressure and pain in the area, and a pocket of tissue that would protrude out of the hole like a balloon (like there was too much pressure and it had no where to go but out of the hole). My oral surgeon told me that it was just a piece of tissue that they had tried to close the hole with (yeah right). I've been thinking alot about it lately and I now believe that the tissue may have actually been my sinus pocket!!! The hole eventually closed on its own a couple of months after the second surgery. All I have left in that area now is scar tissue and my hard pallate!
Ever since then I seem to have constant sinus infections, always with the most pressure/pain on the side where the tooth was removed, and it is always most painful down in the gum area. Could my sinus infections be related to this botched tooth extraction? Should I bring this up to my primary care physician? What would they be able to do about it?

I have been reading some of your other posts and have a few ?'s

1) Is there a time when a root canal is a good idea and you would opt for one or is extraction always better ??

2) you say " a fractured tooth is not salvagable " I thought a fractured tooth could be crowned IF it was not fractured into the root true or false ?? My wifes dentist told her she had a crack, root canaled and crowned it and its been fine for a few years, is this something different ?

3) Upper teeth, how many times are upper teeth into the sinus cavity ?? Is it fairly rare ??

have you ever had extractions or root canals or cracked teeth ? Just curious or are you the lucky one with perfect chicklets :D

Thanks for the answers and all the help you provide, I for one appreciate it:D

Hello,
I hope Bryanna can help me on this, at least to make me feel less... afraid.
I have had a problem on my upper jaw for a while now, the gum will swollen (only have this in the morning when I wake up) and when I press it a yellow stuff comes out. So I thought this is an infection... due to the fact that I moved to Canada from Spain a couple of years ago, I didn't go to the dentist until my papers were ready.
So I told my dentist about it and he sent me to a Maxillo-facial surgeon. My dentist was saying I'm missing a tooth. My parents never took me to the dentist when I was small so I told him nothing had ever been removed from my mouth.
So I went to the surgeon and he took some x-rays. Apparently, one of my teeth never came out, it seems to be located very close to the sinus and he said that if there is infection it has to be removed....
he also told me that he couldn't guarantee 100% that I wasn't going to have problems with the sinus after, and that he has dealed with problems like this a few times.
he has 30 years experience, I mean, I'm not worried about that, but since he said he has to go through the sinus and that is tricky to remove it when it is in that location... I'm literally freaking out...
I've been reading some people's posts here and in other forums, and they have had some serious problems after surgery.
The operation is next wednesday... how worried should I be?
please reply before wednesday!
thank you.
