My daughters boyfriend who lives with us was diagnosed with swine flu today!
I called Interior Health and they said that CRPS patients were on the high risk group.

I went down @ 11: am and got 2 shots 1 in each arm, 1 H1N1 and 1 regular flu shot. The shots did not hurt (that was a huge surprise as most shots hurt me) but now 8.5 hrs later hard to lift arms have propped on pillows.

They said CRPS high risk so I am spreadin the word.

Aparently there is a chance that the shots may not work for us if we already contracted H1N1 from Marshal, I am quite concerned for my granddaughter and daughter who are also higher risk.

Unfortunately, it usually takes 7 - 10 days for an immunization to take effect. I assume you are taking extreme precautions (STAY AWAY FROM ME!) around him. I hope you dodge it.

I had flu last winter that had all of the symptoms of H1N1, but I was not tested for it. That may have given me some immunity. But I will still go for the shot when they have the vaccine.

I got both flu shots a week and one half ago and while I was waiting, called my PM doc about getting a shot in my CRPS arm.

He strongly recommended against it, didn't even want one in my other arm, instructing me to get themn in the thighs. Who would have thunk?

Great! That is just what I need. I am really careful when I go out because I kind of figured we would fall into the high risk group. Sadly, they are only giving the vaccine to babies and seniors in our area. I'm just using the Germex like crazy.

I have CRPS and had the flu a few weeks ago. They did not test to see if it was h1n1 or regular flu. They said it didnt mater bc the treatment was the same...fluids and rest. This made me mad bc I wanted to know which type I had. Oh well!!

Thank you for letting us know about your family h1n1 flu. That is something I'm sure all of us on the forum have been talking and thinking about. Please keep us up to date about yourself and your family.
I'm so undecided about getting either shot. I'm just finishing up my 2nd 10 day antibiotics. I still have congestion in my chest and sinus infection. It's been going on 3 plus months. I've never had a flu shot before. Do have very low immune system and weakness in the chest and sinus areas.
Would appreciate your and anyone's thoughts on geting the shots or not?

As of two days ago, Arizona has over 5,000 that have gottin the h1n1 flu. Take care - you and your family are in our thoughts. loretta soft hugs

Whether it's the shots or the flu not sure yeat.. the babe, my granddaughter is pretty sick last night and still today.. my arms are very sore hard to lift em today, I was told H1N1 would possibly be a little sore for 2 days.. I will let you know how this goes for me.

My granddaughter is 11 months old and my daughter is also high risk due to blood disorder, both had shots yesterday as well.

Here is what I have observed:

The "general idea" is that children and seniors are the high-risk groups, so that is how they limit when there is a "public" vaccine clinic. It is easy for the screeners to look at someone and decide they are very young or very old.

It is also easy for a "healthy" person to masquerade as someone in other high-risk groups, like someone with a compromised immune system. The screeners would have a hard time making that judgment call. So, I can understand that the public immunization clinics are run this way. Ditto for anything that is run through chain drugstores. Their screeners need to be able to make a call without having everyone’s health history. Can you imagine the outrage if a healthy-looking middle aged person was in line to get a shot? We don’t have signs on our foreheads announcing that we are in a high-risk group.

You would be better off checking with your own doctor’s office to get the injection. They will have your records and know that you are at risk and qualify.

Sandel is absolutely correct in preventive measures against the Swine Flu. Having had the swine flu, about four months ago, believe you me, it's no joke. I had more than a mild case, but the symptoms came on so suddenly, and were horrible. I had a fever of 104 for starters, felt like I was going to feint everytime I stood up, was coughing up god knows what, and was so cold, despite the fever, that I was almost convulsing. I couldn't bathe myself, dress myself, nothing of that nature because i was shaking so badly because i was cold. It was miserable. SO TAKE THE PRECAUTIONS NOW AS SANDEL SAID!!!!!
