My Mood:
Post my opinion on the doctor that says it's in her head?

well - all I have to say about the doctor -
is it is neurological, and I wonder if he has even has met her personally and
given her any tests - in my own life experience dr.'s who answer like this
need to have their head examined

I have a friend that had a side effect of the flu shot in 2006. It's called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. It's very rare.

FTC Issues Warning Letter To Dr. Weil for H1N1 Products

Tsk, tsk, how dare Dr. Weil promote natural treatments for H1N1 instead of vaccination? He's been issued a warning letter by the FTC.

Marcia,

How scary to have all your limbs go weak and be near paralysis in a matter of weeks! Fortunately, it seems that a person can fully recover? I hope that is the case with your friend?

Researchers think that neuro-inflammation may play a role in PD and like Guillain-Barre, it may begin with a viral infection. I know that the idea of any sort of flu shot terrifies me at this point.

There are so many different triggers for all of us and then I wonder with so many causals, how can we have a one size fits all "cure"? It almost seems as if with PD or any other rare neuropathy that we need to each know how we ended up there in the first place and then treatment be designed accordingly? This would mean that we need many more treatment options and potential disease halting approaches given that we may need science to run interference for us at various points along the pathway of neurotransmission.

I didn't mean to scare anyone. Guillain-Barre is very rare. I read also that you can get it by having the flu.

My friend recovered because she went to the ER and a doctor there recognized what it was. She was properly treated but she had to spend a week in the hospital.

The one symptom she had that was really strange was her eyelids were blinking opposite each other.
